Hi, thanks for the kind words. Have you watched this video? The Mini-Z handles much better than the 284010, but a 1:10 touring car is much better than Mini-Z. A pre-owned 1:10 touring car can often be found around the same price as a new Min-Z. So if you want to get into indoor carpet racing, a 1:10 is in my mind the best way. But you need a club for that as the track is nothing you can have at home. But if you prefer the compact size where you can have a track at home, you will need to choose between the 284010 and Mini-Z. I have seen some of Beavers videos on upgrading the K989, and I am not fan of upgrading the cheap WL toys too much. You easily end up spending so much money that you could as well just have bought a Mini-Z. And no matter how much you upgrade a WL Toys, a stock Mini-Z still handles better (and the Mini-Z can be upgraded as well). It's not easy to give the best advice. I would buy the 284010, because it's cheap and start with that. If I then really enjoyed racing, I would consider buying a Mini-Z or 1:10 later.

284010 it has improved diffs and other small upgrades, so that's the best one. 284131 looks better though IMHO 😊

Yes, no problem. The radio on 284131 isn't as terrible as the K989, but a better radio will still make the car easier to drive

Yes it does. It also seems to be random which cars have nice drivetrains and which are too tight. I have all models and some were tight some not

After it cooled down i just checked it again..mesh it good and diffs may have loosened up a bit already...so i think it will break in maybe even better than my green truck which i installed some drift wheels on...i have to many rc cars to worry about wearing any of them out anyway...thanks 😊

I agree that for most people the wltoys would be just as fun. On a tight Mini-Z track the Mini-Z wins every time, in this test we used a stock Mini-Z vs a upgraded K989 with better radio and locked front diff and other small upgrades, but still the Mini-Z wins. The best driver in this video came 3rd in last years nation championship for touring cars. But outside this Mini-Z track the wltoys are more fun to drive, so for many people the wltoys are a great choice. But for racers the Mini-Z are much more satisfied to drive as it simply handles better and has much better weight balance.

Thanks. The carpet is 4 meters wide when you buy it, and if I remember correctly then I bought 2.4m so that’s 2.4x4.0 meters

The carpet is the cheapest type you can get, so not that expensive, rope is also cheap. If I remember correctly I used around $100.

The stock servo are actually good, you might be able to find a better one but the radio are the weakest link and should be upgrades before servo. I use the stock servo in all my micro WLToys

I also use the radio on 1:10 off roads cars and here I often run out of range, here the range is like 30-50 meters. I have another radio labeled “HRC” which should be the same (and looks identical) but that one has 300m range - strange

I’d like to see them become more popular in my area, even batting around the idea of building a multi track facility w/ hobby shop here in Hunt Valley MD. Hi, in that case I would recommend upgrading the radio - it make a huge difference for K989. The radio for K989 is pretty bad (it's better for 284131 and 284010). I am using this radio on my K989 and it has several benefits: It has no dead spots, you can reduce speed and it has EXP, see more about that in this video: czcams.com/video/_LAe7qcECkY/video.html

@@LyhneRC You are very naive or blind. In 1st main, he drives through the blue car and doesn’t wait. In the 2nd main, he drives through the red car twice and both times he doesn’t wait.

@@joneskimracing2932I didn’t argue against what he did, he did make some bad moves and hit my son. I just told that he didn’t do it because he wanted to ram other cars. He is not a very experienced driver and made some bad moves that resulted in collisions. If I remember correctly then this was one of the first races he participated in - if it was an experienced driver it would be another case. But for a rookie, this can happen. The judge/marchall should have given him a penalty, but failed to do so - I find that a bigger problem

Hi, I will add image of the mounting in an upcoming video, so hang on for that 😊. I use two cameras: A forward looking GoPro on a standard GoPro mount which I have attached to the battery with tape. And a 360 camera mounted on a homemade bracket attached to the rear bulkhead. Which of the body shells do you want a link to, then I will try to see if I can find that?

Hi, there is a lot of internal resistance in the motor so this car will always stop abruptly when releasing the throttle. If you are in doubt try disengaging the motor, then the car should run freely with almost no resistance. Regarding the screws in the diff, then I noticed that if I tightened too much then a freely moving diff would become tight again. Guess the plastic is so thin that you can bend it, so just keep an eye on that 👍

The cheapo aluminum difs from ebay are a great upgrade to fix the issues you are describing. With a little time spent, the WL cars can become quite enjoyable to drive.

For racing I agree, but the AWD mini Z is worth every penny for drifting. I’ve owned a k969 and the experience of driving the mini z vs the k969 is incomparable

I agree. The mini-z is a better car for sure, but the price is ridiculous for what you get. You can get a 1:10 car for that price. I own a Mini-Q which is a Mini-Z clone, but that is no way as good. I have bought two Mini-Z used, then the price is not that bad.

@@LyhneRC yeah honestly even the AWD is overpriced in my opinion but honestly there’s just nothing better you can get at this scale. I think $150 RTR with gyro and lights would be a fair price

@genboxofficial7417 Correct, they are THE best 1:24 and they know it, that’s why they are some expensive. Could be great if some other company made one as good but more affordable. Then they would probably lower the price

As far as I can see the only things you need is front and rear bodyposts part number K989-50 and K989-51, the 284010 body shell and some small screws. You could consider also using the cheaper K989/K969 body shell which has same measurements or the 284131 body. You got me inspired, maybe I will also make this conversion - it would look great 👍

I looked at the exploded views of both a 3S and 4S Arrma and all the ball ends seems to have different numbers. But the screw going through the eye of the pivot ball is 3mm for both 3S and 4S, so my guess it that you should be able to use TRX5525 also for Arrma 4S, but you might need more or less shims.
