    Finally, someone doing it the right way. I saw all of these other videos doing it backwards, or completely different altogether. Thought I was going crazy until I found this. If easy things like tying a certain knot are missing from our modern martial arts, what about the things that are actually difficult to learn?

      it may be special to him, some masters use their old belts in a way to show humbleness and how important to them was their journey to reach the black belt, using an old belt black belt is a way to save money too, they're like 60 dollars-

    Weird question, maybe miniscule. I am wondering if you are supposed to blink when throwing the strikes. It seems he is intentionally closing his eyes only as the punch connects?

    • @andstuff152
      @andstuff152 Před 3 lety

      @@kae_Lin_ not mocking, just being realistic. I am one of those "people who do karate" as you said. If anything this application itself could be considered a mockery to karate as it will not protect you in a real civilian combat situation, which is the original intent of karate in the first place Look up some stuff on Iain Abernethy or Jesse Enkamp and research more practical bunkai and you'll see what I mean. I mean no disrespect, I just don't appreciate karate being represented in such an impractical way.

    For anyone interested I transcribed a decent portion of what was said: With slight movement of your hip, bring your left hand down, right hand up With the movement of your hips, take your hands around, so that you’re looking at the right hand, left hand passing in front of your face to rest next to your elbow. Bring the left foot next to the right. Step forward with the left foot so that the toes are pointing at 9’oclock. Left hand brushes past your knee, as your right hand pushes from next to your ear. Right hand is about chest height. Transfer your weight backwards, make sure you don’t stand up fully, keep your body straight. Turn towards 45 degrees, facing 730. As you turn, bring your right hand around, left hand up, so the right hand is _ the left elbow, and the left hand is facing up. Step forward with the right foot, again the same, in reverse direction. Right hand bruises past the knee, left hand pushes out. Transfer your weight, make sure you leave your toe up.
