Fire Alarm wiring tutorial [Fire Lite ES-50x][Addressable]- Ep. 3: Add pull station(class B SLC)
Discord: discord.gg/pxF4brt
Disclaimers: 1) an end-of-line resistor was required on my class B slc to make the devices work. If there was no resistor, the devices would not power up and the panel would give a trouble saying they are missing. This may vary from panel to panel. It may be advisable to try without a resistor first. 2) I am not a professional fire alarm technician. I am a hobbyist.

Hey NM! I have my siren wired the same way (red for power and black for neutral; red on terminal 3 at the panel, and black on terminal 4 at the panel). However, my Honeywell WAVE-2 makes a constant low vibrate/rattle/buzzing sound. I tried troubleshooting online, but didn't find anything yet. Any idea what that might be? The only thing different with my Vista 20P set up is I upgraded to the 1361 Transformer (16.5VAC, 40VA) over the 1321 (but not sure if that's sufficient to make a difference). Thanks!
I might have actually figured it out. I just realized I don't have my backup battery installed yet (it hasn't arrived yet). Do you think that's the cause?
Check sirens manual to check what voltage it needs and double check what wires go where
@@NM_Tech Okay, will do. Thank you.
Accessibility tech is so cool and interesting. I appreciate this tech demo.
Following along so far, good stuff :) What do you recommend for someone like myself who needs more zones... is there a way to expand the Vista-20P (or is there another/better model)?
The Honeywell 4219 zone expander for the vista. Or use a zone doubling kit(two different value resistors).
@@NM_Tech - Okay, awesome! Which would you think is easier for a 1st-timer? And where do you recommend buying gear (like panel, motion sensors, fire, keypads, etc.) I prefer higher quality equipment over budget-friendly equipment. Thanks!
Honeywell equipment is solid quality and more easier to work with than some others. DSC would probably be higher quality equipment but as far as I know, not as easy to learn especially if you’re just beginning. I would recommend the Honeywell Vista 20P or similar models(15P, 10P, 21IP) as I worked with in this series of videos. Usually eBay you can get this equipment new or second hand for decent prices.
To add on, I’m sure you could even get some DSC sensors and still wire it up to a Honeywell panel. Conventional hardwired devices like those would work with any conventional hardwired panel.
@@NM_Tech - Love it, thanks so much! Super helpful! I'm using your videos + ChatGPT + like 50+ other tabs to do supporting research. I think leaning full Honeyell is likely the best route based and what you said. I think a 21P panel is a solid choice. I might hire a local installer to teach/install with me. That would be the best for learning. Do you have any recommendations for connecting the 21P to HomeAssistant?
This video is super helpful for learning how alarms work! Thank you. I'm beginning the my diy alarm research and this was amazing.
Thank you! Please feel free to check out the Security System wiring tutorial series playlist as linked in description!
@@NM_Tech Will do! Thanks very much :-)
@@NM_Tech - Hi NM, do you offer any consulting help? I'm looking to get into building my own DIY alarm system (and I have a bunch of 22/4 AWG wiring in the house) and I'd love some help putting together the initial hardware. Cheers.
I would say the best consulting is still the playlist I mentioned earlier.’
@@NM_Tech - Okay, will do. Thank you for the reply.
Great demonstration. Thank you.
This is a good demonstration. I was trying to search for a written description online and was so confused. Thanks for this explanation!
Great video boss. Mine has 3 screws on the back. So I needed this to point me in the right direction 😎👍🏽
I just won two of these in a pelican cases for like 90 bucks each, what are they used for and why are the prescription rates so high? I appreciate any info you can give me.
They use satellite communication to make and receive phone calls. That’s why they’re expensive to use.
*Please read desc*
I have a Fire-Lite monitor module, an ANN-80, an SD355R, and a CRF relay module for sale on my eBay if you’re interested.
You’re not actually supposed to put an EOL resistor anywhere on the actual SLC cause it can kill the panel. EOL resistors are supposed to go at the end of a conventional NAC, monitor, or control module IDC circuit.
As per the description, this panel required it at the end of the class B circuit. If I didn’t have it, the devices on the SLC circuit would not work and the panel would throw off a trouble stating it’s missing .
@@NM_Tech ok.
NM Tech very cool i just learned something new thank you for teaching me on how to wire a pull station up to a control panel.
Glad to help
Nice video N8, excited for more!
More to come!
Should keep the plastic cover in place until fully installed. This avoids dirty finger prints
Good point
Thanks for the video. Please, can we use a mobile phone for test ?
That’s entirely dependent on your monitoring company. Most likely, the customer cannot test this.
@@NM_Tech Thank you for your previous reply.
@@NM_Tech I have a slight problem with my Honeywell Galaxy Dimension GD-48 control unit. When I do an alarm test and the control unit calls the telephone number I entered in the settings, the call only lasts 24-30 seconds at the most before it cuts out. I'd like to know which key to press to activate the channel or communication with the tp800 connected to the control unit's c084 audio interface.
I’d recommend joining the discord server of this community and asking that question there. www.protostarlabs.net/monitoring/
@@NM_Tech Okay, thanks.
I believe the original meaning of TTY was "teletypewriter."
NM Tech very cool Fire Alarm control panel and thank you for showing everyone on how to wire up these control panels thanks for the tutorial.
Glad it was helpful!
I have an i3 and a safe watch pro 3000 panel and keypad. I wired the smoke detector but it is not showing “Alarm Smoke “
Please reference the video in the playlist for wiring a fire detection zone
Why can't the operators on 711 be replaced with a texting interface on your smartphone? All they are doing is translating text to speech and speech to text. A built-in TTY decryptor should be available on all devices and get automatically activated upon a TTY call. This would make it calling other numbers much more easier for people with a hearing or speaking disabilty
Why don’t you call 711 and ask them
There are apps that do text-to-speech TTY but I guess native software doing that would be too complicated.
Especially cause of the beeps
Did the relay service lady know you were controlling both ends of that call? 😂 Seriously though this was very informative, when they taught us about TTY in school (barely, even though we had a deaf classmate) I assumed it converted text to voice on its own somehow... many decades before that was possible lol This makes way more sense, and it's still impressive that the inventor basically came very close to modern "texting" unlike the somewhat similar technology that came before it
No she absolutely didn’t 🤫
Very cool Honeywell Vista 20p demonstration NM Tech also i find your videos very helpful keep up the good work.
Awesome, thank you!
@@NM_Tech your welcome.
NM Tech very cool Sony Camera and i like the fact the screen can fold out i am glad you got it also it is nice you don't have to push a button to focus the camera anymore witch is very cool as well.

You are kinda misleading with some words like tty and boad
What is misleading about that?
Huh how is that supposed to be misleading?
How to be sure that the ap is in the same network than the wifi access point on the mobile, because the link fail nevertheless my Unifi AP is pulgged to a switch
Thank you for the demonstration.
Old TTY for many years
This video was incredible
I’m glad to hear that.
Would my Ericsson r190 still work I got mine for 10 dollars
Ask Globalstar.
Can you demonstrate the compass software with the modem?
Don’t have either right now unfortunately
NM Tech very cool Thanks for showing how to wire that up i just learned something new thank you.
Late reply, but you’re welcome. And this is certainly a quite rare option to install on the Vista system.
I just found one of these in storage, turned it on and only the HS light is on? I plugged in a DB25 to DB9 null modem cable and attached a USB to serial. Is my modem dead?
Probably, to be honest. Can’t say I know how to troubleshoot one
NM tech very Awesome.
It sure is!
Does this require a Wi-Fi internet connection to work? Is there a TTY that does NOT require a handset?
No wifi needed if you’re using a dedicated landline. No, they haven’t made a TTY machine with no handset cradle. This is like an 80s or 90s machine. The only TTY with no handset is a smartphone
@@NM_Tech Thanks! I tried all the TTY settings on my Android phone and none of them worked!😥
Yes there are TTY that does not require a handset. Look up Ultratec Uniphone and AT&T Advanced TTY 8840.
@@NM_Techthey do make ones without the cradle that plug into the phone lines
@@KaiCheetah I would like to find this. Do you happen to know the make and model of any of them?
Thank goodness u6 Lite is also configurable as "standalone" through Android App 👍🏾
oh great I thought i needed some wireless controller for it
Try wiring up a Voice siren driver and a moose MPI 11 Siren driver to the Vista 20p as well
NM Tech why not also review the Moose MPI 11 Siren driver and horn speaker as well on your Honeywell vista 20P Burglar alarm system.
Very interesting, keep up the videos.
Even on x2 speed this was painfully slow
Would’ve been even slower if I was talking
Hello. DO you happen to know who to get the Vista-20 to send a status report once a day or once a week?
Do you have access to the Vistas manual? Yes there is a way. It’s one of the star codes in programming, just don’t remember exactly which one
Why did you delete the video “My Honeywell Vista 20P security system”?
Because I want to remaster it
In case you’re still paying attention to this comment thread, that video did get a remaster. Complete Honeywell Vista 20p Security System demonstration czcams.com/video/oEJOknGWOJU/video.html
Don’t use Globalstar. Their phones are obsolete and the service is terrible. Your lucky to get 3 minutes of connection and if there are any clouds you likely will not connect. I had them for two years and was glad I switched to Garmin Inreach as a SAT emergency device.
3 min can more than save your life.
Do you need a subscription for service or does it just come ready to go?
You need a plan from Globalstar
@NM_Tech it's extreamly expensive.
Spot x is the route I like the most so far.
