Welcome to my CZcams channel - Bernard Buys Karate (バーナード 空手道) where we will be training karate and everything karate related. In my videos we will focus on different aspects of karate such as kihon (basics), kata (forms) and kumite (sparring) for all belt and age levels in an easy step-by-step way to improve your karate skill level - whether it is in preparation for grading, to improve your fitness or just for an overall increase of your karate knowledge. Bernard Buys (6th Dan) is the Chief Instructor of the International Japan Karate-Do Association South Africa (IJKA SA) and is based in Johannesburg, South Africa. He is a qualified international Instructor (class A), Examiner (class A) and Judge (class A) and has been practicing shotokan karate since the age of 4.

Why do you want to vibrate?
Power in karate is generated from the hips.
@mattt1974UK You don't want or need vibration so to speak it's more of a description of what happens with proper technique. This is the problem with names being attached to certain techniques. Overtime they get misinterpreted due to the name. You're not actually trying to get "vibration" but when you utilize the hips/legs and ground connection in a certain way the hips sort of wiggle or seem more like a vibration than a twisting motion. It's more of a tension and release kind of like a rubber band pre-stretched then released and suddenly stretched again and ready to go.

Usually two fists apart (males) and one fist apart (females).

I notice that a lot of your basic kihon is similar to what we do in Shotokan. Then again, karate systems are all related at some level.
We also do shotokan as IJKA.
Strong basics are the foundation of good karate. As seen here. You can never practise them enough.
