The 2nd part of our photos from our final visit to the Targa Florio in 1973. One of the oldest and greatest road races in the World. Restore Floriopolis!!

This is the 1st part of photos from our 8th and final visit to Sicily to compete in this awesome road race. The Daren BRM had a few problems during the race but Jack & Martin managed to finish 22nd overall. The Ferrari 312s and Alfa 33TT12s dropped out and left Gijs van Lennep and Herbert Muller to win in their Porsche Carrera RSR.

The 7th visit to the Targa Florio and this time with the new Daren Mk3 BRM. A 2litre V8 BRM engine mated to a Hewland gearbox. Quite a major step up in power from the Sprites and Jerboa. On this outing the car ran quite well until ignition problems caused the car to retire early on in the race.

This was the 6th visit to the Targa Florio and the 2nd visit with Jerboa. This time the car only finished 40th O/A due to a clutch problem on lap 8

The 5th visit to the Targa Florio and the first visit with the new car; Jerboa. A Ginetta G12 chassis running the same BMC 1300cc engine but in a specially designed areodynamic long-tail body; originally designed for Le Mans. This year the car crashed on the first lap - but that's the Targa for you, highs and lows.

The 4th visit to the Targa Florio, the Sprite having undergone quite a lot of development work to the engine, gearbox and fully independent suspension. A new front end had also been made and the roof had been removed, Lancia Barchetta 'style' This was another Porsche dominated race, with the 908/2 taking the first 4 places.

The 3rd visit to the Targa Florio with the Sprite. The evolution of the car continues with suspension now changed to Lotus Elan 26R independent all round and the engine fitted with an 8-port cross flow cylinder head.

This was the 2nd visit to the Targa Florio, again with the Sebring Sprite, but many lessons had been learned from the previous year. Various suspension modifications had been made to withstand the hours of punishing and tortuous driving over the mountains of the Piccolo Madonie circuit. This time the car finished 5th in the 'up to 2 litre prototype' class - not bad for a 1300cc Sprite!

The first outing to the Targa Florio with the Sprite. Jack Wheeler and Martin Davidson aka 'Harry Martin' made the long road trip to Sicily to compete on this tough road race of nearly 45 miles to the lap. Unfortunately the car was rolled in practice and did not start the race, but they would return to race various cars in the Targa every year until 1973.
