Whats surprising about seeing these characters irl. Is their humanity. We see the finished product of a painstakingly detailed process that plants in our minds eye exactly what the cast and crew want us to see. When we see Lalo, we see a Mexican drug lord because we are supposed to. To see what intelligent well adjusted people they really are, and how different they are from the character's they portray, makes me appreciate their commitment to their craft....this is truly tv at its best.

The casting, of Ashford and Murtry, with Strahairn and Gorman, was inspired and genius. The casting of Marco Inaros with Keon Alexander gave fans someone they could rage against and yet completely understand, you get to know that the Villian truely believes he's the Hero.

So, right after watching the final episode I decided to casually rewatch Eps 1. Then I noticed when Yabushige's nephew asked him whether he plan to tell Toranaga about the ship (in Eps 1), Yabushige replied with "Why tell a dead man about the future"''....the exact same line Toranaga replied to Yabushige right before the seppuku. Man, that was just masterful writing!!

I watched dark when I was 11 (yes 11 years old… don’t ask my parents what was going through their minds when they let child me watch a show full of s*x, Kidnapping of children, murder, and incest cause I really don’t know) and now I’m rewatching it 2024 (18 years old) to learn German🤣

There’s literally not one bad character in the show. Fuji and Yabushige ended up being two of my favorites. Ishido was played brilliantly too. Can’t say enough about this show

Feels like I haven't been seeing this show get much attention. Which makes me sad, because I think there's a ton of potential for another season. I really enjoyed this series. The world is an intriguing one that I want to explore further, and the cast is a lot of fun. I was particularly impressed by George Rexstrew's performance as Edwin. Edwin is an extremely complex character, and George played those complexities brilliantly. I think he's a very talented young actor.
