This is where I hated more Dorian, that was a cowardly move threatening another man’s wife, it’s very tragic what happened to Doppos face he looks like a Frankenstein now.
No because OF COURSE ABSOLUTELY NOBODY CAN DIE IN BAKI WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU FOR EVEN SUGGESTING SUCH H E R E S Y (I really wish he did there because Doppo's survival undercuts the shit out of this scene)
I hate how this is written. Dorian admits defeat, but then he still goes to Doppo's house, destroys the place, blows up Doppo's face and then he leaves and gets defeated by Retsu. We never learned why he did that, what happened to Natsue or how Katsumi coped with the fact that Dorian went after his mom and cheap-shotted his dad. He simply loses to Retsu and everything is fine now. He's redeemed. I can see when the author suddenly 180's the plot because he had an idea. Every arc does this, and it's at its absolute worst in the legendary swordsman arc.
I too kinda hate when the author does the sudden 180 out of nowhere, but this one was kinda different. There was a weird build-up to this moment. Kato being almost murdered. The Shin Shin Kai taking revenge. Then the scene where Kato was still in hospital equipment when deciding to take the finishing blow to Dorian. That scene was super hype. That's why this scene felt so unfair, like after that hype scene, they took it away from us very quickly... and the Dorian, this mf starts singing. The only thing I don't like is how it all ends with Retsy shortly beating Dorian shortly after. I wish they left Dorian free for a couple episodes to get their ass beat by Baki or something.
It's a plot point for this season. It shows that for all of the prisoners' talk of "wanting to taste defeat", at the end of the day, almost all of them were just prideful sore losers who couldn't accept it when their opponents legitimately got the better of them. Speck and Doyle were the only ones who were able to truly accept their losses in the end (and Doyel took a LONG time to finally accept his). It literally got so bad after a point to where even Yujiro, of all people, eventually had enough of their nonsense when he finally went after the last criminal of the arc and tells him point-blank to his face: *"You lost."* And Natsumi is alive and well. We see her later in the Musashi arc, but yeah, not explaining where she was long before then was a really weird choice. Author had me assuming the worst for the longest.
@@kiyopawn Dorian didn't turn good, his mind just regressed back to that of a toddler. But you got a point. And this is the same man who's now trying to paint Yujiro as some kind of saint *after ALL the inhuman shit he did to everyone in the first two seasons and isn't even REMOTELY sorry for any of it.* For example, when Baki *understandably* asked Yujiro why he killed his mom, Yujiro got angry stating he didn't need to explain himself to some kid. And yet later, that same Yujiro tells Hilary Clinton that if she really is a friend of Emi's he'll protect her....... *What!?* It's like the author knows how just many lines Yujiro has crossed and is now trying to downplay some of them and make Yujiro look not as bad as we all initially thought. *That's not how it works.* It's no different from the writer of Naruto trying his hardest to redeem Sasuke and the rest of the Uchihas after all their crimes. You can't spend so long painting your characters as little more than psychopaths and sadists and then suddenly try to paint them as noble deep down, just because you as an author have grown attached to them, *and seriously expect everyone else to agree with you.*
@@painispootis Yeah, you could tell it was around this time that Itagaki was slowly starting to lose it as a writer (by the time you reach the start of Musashi, you'll officially be wondering just what the hell he was smoking).
@@SabeNo-rh7mb The story is about the son of a buff japanese man and his friends that do martial arts, and the goal is to surpass the father of the protagonist.
