I thought it was interesting he was in ‘Sin City’ in a dark role. But I think his range of acting was exhibited in Showtime’s ‘Penny Dreadful.’

I think I wrote this before, but thank you for diving into the entire dark tower series, and really a big part of King's bibliography. I'm not exactly the most observant reader, so I these have helped me understand what the heck was happening this entire series. This book in particular is quite crazy. Loved reading it though!

Breaking Bad is one of the only shows I can think of that is perfect. I love GOT but the ending wasn't perfect.

My kids love anime and manga and love telling me all about it. They could spend hours talking about it so I eventually have to ask them to stop. 😂

I like all the stuff about physical suffering. I became permanently disabled around 10 years ago due to a genetic illness. I'm mostly bedbound and feel some level of pain and like I have the flu 24/7. It has changed my perspective on many things in life, one being positive thinking, 'natural health', healing, diet e.t.c We are animals and sometimes have no control over what happens to our bodies and how that can effect us mentally. I despise toxic positivity now and people who think mind over matter is always possible.

i know im years too late here but i wanted to voice my thanks of yall breaking down just why everything works in a literary sense. you said that part of goal is to help teach people why things work so well in this story and that has been immensely enjoyable. i knew that i liked reading worm, i liked the characters and world building and story but even with that the story stood out and this series has helped me to see why (since i have no experience in breaking things down on this sort of level). so, even tho im very late to the party, thank you.

The Realm of the Elderlings ❤ I always feel grief after reading that series, ugly crying on and off for a week! I love those characters so much. Reading something entirely different after like Joe Abercrombie or Terry Pratchett helps me get over it or else I think I would get into a reading slump.

Top shelf as always, it's good to hear the voices of the most brilliant podcasters I listen to.

I've listened to we've got worm and ward, and started them up again. You guys are just that entertaining, and your journey through this series is amazing. I love Matt's intros and how Scott slowly learns just what the heck he's talking about on some of them, and Scott's predictions had my jaw dropping MULTIPLE times through the series. Listening to the insightful and deep story analysis is incredibly rewarding. Thank you very much.

First time catching your show. I had not realised the source of the story, and feel like you should have considered this more from the perspective of post Great War France. I love the French, and I believe they entered a kind of national depression they are still grappling with. This film seems to me more a reflection of that than a commentary on mankind as a whole.

I was in church once 😂 and the pastor in his sermon used Homies quite often. My wife and I had to muffle our insane laughter and couldn’t look at each other when he said it.

I love enjoying all of my favourite books and movies with my kids. Unfortunately they find some too old and boring, the Wizard of OZ for example. I highly recommend reading Septimus Heap with kids, it's a great read for adults too. Also if you struggle to get any of your kids into reading, ir they have learning difficulties like one of mine, graphic novels work really well.

I've re-read the books several times in the last 2 years; but I need to watch the movies again! So delighted that scott & matt got to nerd out about a work of literature I am also deeply, deeply nerdy about.

Oh no, you said this was a twenty three old movie and I felt so old! Excellent analysis as always. Scott and Matt, you have such a beautiful interplay with each other, and your passion for examining the subtleties of the works of art given to our world is inspiring. You're my favorite podcasters by a long shot 💜 Lotr always brings back good memories, my grandpa used to read me the Hobbit when I was very young and had a lot of turmoil in my life. It was an island of stability that I will always remember. He gave me a complete copy of the lotr trilogy and when I was in my teens, and we'd talk about them after school while he worked in his shed, he practically had them memorized word for word! This was way before people could just ask the Internet, and his wisdom and insight when we talked about them remind me of how you guys examine these stories. I loved the way the movies introduced these wonderful stories to the zeitgeist of multiple generations, and hearing them still covered today warms my heart.

One of my fave's! Probably one of the craziest starts of a book I've ever read, recommended it to a friend and they started looking at me funny after that prologue 😂
