I really enjoyed Name of the Wind. If anything, Name of the Wind is written very beautifully, but I still haven’t read book 2. Also, I felt the same about Rhythm of War! I’m not worried about the next one, but Rhythm of War just wasn’t my favorite in the series. Have you happen to have read any Adrian Tchaikovsky? He does expansive sci-fi stories. Really good stuff! I highly recommend The Final Architecture series.
I think the main reason why I want to read Name of the Wind is for the writing that is so frequently talked about. I am so glad that I am not alone in my thoughts on Rhythm of War. I've seen a number of people say it was their favorite in the series. Looking forward to seeing how it all plays out in book 5! I started Children of Time. I was really enjoying it but lost my copy when moving. Your comment reminded me that I needed to get another copy!
Here’s hoping the next six months bring you some 5 ⭐️ books.

I’ve been putting off The Song of Achilles for years too, despite love Circe. Glad it worked for you.
I've seen a couple of people say that. Maybe it's a sign that I should read Circe!
Glad you enjoyed The First Law Trilogy. I actually thought the standalones were even better, especially Best Served Cold.
I just finished The Heroes and Red Country. I had mixed feelings about Red Country, but The Heroes has been one of my favorite reads of the year so far!
I've put off grabbing Mythago Wood because I've heard so little about it. Thank you for giving your opinion on it. I'll definitely push it off to the distant future, if I ever bother with it.
Glad I found your channel, Blake. Happy to hear that you're really discovering yourself and what you truly enjoy reading. I agree that fomo reading can lead to unenjoyable reads. Seems like every time I check out the hot new fantasy series, it falls flat for me. Now at 40 years old, I've just accepted that I prefer fantasy that has a more classic feel over the modern booktok darlings. I'd for one be happy to see your book reviews as I love them too. Thank you for your kind comment, Steve! I find that a lot of popular series fall flat for me too. Over the last few months, I've discovered that I have a habit of picking up "easy" and short reads when I get busy and, as a result, end up reading things that I don't necessarily love.

Hi! I would recommend the Raven Caller series by David Dalglish because it is seriously underhyped.
Just finished Empire of Silence. Looking forward to Howling Dark. As for my favorite, I'd say Christopher Brenning's Hellborn King.
I'm really excited about Howling Dark. I've seen so many people say that the series gets even better. I hadn't heard of Hellborn King, but I'll definitely look into it because that's a sick title.
This was on my list for 2023, cause I kept putting it off cause it didn't seem like my type of fantasy.

I'm really looking forward to reading some Jay Kristoff, especially 'Empire Of The Vampire'. I love Anne Rice, so I'm hoping it'll be a bit like that.
I love Interview with the Vampire! I am currently reading Empire of the Vampire and it feels very Anne Rice at the moment. If that is the vibe you're looking for, I think you'll enjoy it!

I've just finished Crooked Kingdom and i loved it so much ( even with the ending 😪) . And completely agree, i never was sad to change to annother characters POV, they were all fantastic.

I’m sad the Lies did work for you (as a huge fan of both SoC and Lies) but I can understand why you felt that way! Lynch is much more descriptive than Bardugo for sure 😆 Ahhh yeah stupid characters can be so hard to read from 🙈

I really need to read some Brandon Sanderson! I always used to buy books, but here lately I always read digitally :P I tried reading the mortal instruments too, and it definitely isn’t for me :P
I highly recommend the Mistborn trilogy! Reading digitally is so convenient! I'm glad I'm not the only one that dislikes TMI because it's so popular here in the book community!

This is a great haul! ✨ Welcome to the Brando Sando club :) I discovered him about 3 years ago and he also made my favorites list quite quickly hahah I’ve never heard of Veil of Spears but that cover has definitely caught my eye 👀
Thank you! I read The Way of Kings and I was hooked. I am interested to see how all of the Cosmere books connect to each other. I've heard The Song of the Shattered Sands series is a revenge story and there are also assassins!

Thank you! I really like Neil Gaiman's writing style. I really loved The Graveyard Book when I read it and I've been trying to find something else by him that I love.

I hope you enjoy his work if you read it. I would recommend starting with his Mistborn series because it has a lot of elements that people seem to enjoy.

I re-read LOTR in October, still outstanding. Curious to hear your thoughts on the Silmarillion, that's definitely not everyones cuppa tea :D I have to re-read Gretcoats some time. I've only read the first one ages ago and I didn't enjoy it. Too much deus ex machina at the ending imo. I'll read Bear and the Nightingale and Uprooted later this year, good to see you liked these :)

I had very mixed feelings about the first Greatcoats novel but I do think that the second one was better. Yes to Name of the Wind, Yes to Temeraire, Yes to Lies of locke lamora. I love them all so much. The bone season is on my TBR for next year too. I neally picked up the Winters promise from a charity shop the other day and now regretting not buying it 😂
I have never heard anyone say that they dislike The Bone Season. Oh no! 😂 I hate it when that happens but I hope you stumble upon it again.!
Oathbringer is basically 3 books 😂, also I think I know the slow bit you mean 😂I've not actually read Edgedancer, she's probably my least favourite radiant, so I wasn't drawn to it.
Yes, I was trying to be cryptic about the slow part but I think everyone dislikes it. 😂 Edgedancer adds very little to the story, in my opinion. I really, really love her spren though! He actually might be my favorite spren?
I'm listening to Rhythm of War with my partner and loving it but having to wait until we are both around so its taking a while 😂 Would be great to discuss it once we've both finished. I struggled with Oathbringer, put it down for a month and enjoyed it a lot more when I went back to it. :)
