Does the crosman premier hollow point compare with these

I think the pointed pellets are unstable and begin to tumble shortly after impact so they release a lot of energy into the target This creates larger wound channels and quicker kills

In the pest control business I killed hundreds of pigeons, rats and mice with a variety of 177 air-guns With low power guns like 177 cal. CO2 pistols I had better results with pointed pellets at close range. I went for head shots and had good luck on pigeons and rats I used flat pointed target pellets on mice with goid results. With air rifles out to 50 yards I used Beeman pointer pellets with three driving bands. I felt like the pointed pellets were quicker killers than the round nosed pellets. The round nose pellets have more weight forward and are probably going to be more accurate at long range. I am getting back into shooting air-guns again. I think I have four or five that still shoot Thanks for the video.

I think you hit the nail on the head! The shorter spaced between rifling contact points of the pointed pellet, plus the increased drag of the head design, cause the pellet to destabilize faster. That explains the more significant terminal ballistics at 35 yds. The pellet is likely beginning to yaw, and that causes it to tumble upon impact.

    Nice comparison.

Great info. Thanks for doing this. My son bought a weird looking pellet. It’s a hollow point, but in the hollow, they added a small point. So it’s a hollow/pointed pellet. I know…it’s weird. Have you tried that one?

Like a Crosman destroyer or the H&N Terminators? They smack the hell outta game

Aerodynamics from the oscillating and harmonics of the barrels result in the designing of the shape, size, and weight. Science behind the pellets, airgun brother.

I like ole Tom too. I still go back and read and re-read some of his blogs on occasion. I hope they stay on the net forever.

Great info to share! I've noticed a big difference between pointed versus dome versus wad cutter heads. Pointed pellets seem to lose their accuracy before the others and that has been my experience. I'll add that this does not include poly mag pointed pellets, only lead pointed pellets. I'm my .25 Avenger, it loves those poly mags.

👍👍👍 I think you covered a topic on twist rate & pellet length, and using that info to narrow down the best pellet. I'd be cool to revisit that. - subbed
