my dad worked on this line from 1956 to 1958 great memories..

I was born 1959 .My 1st train was the 4mt,we had Cardiff Castle too.and the R55 diesel. I still have the 4 mt and have just had it running without track for yhe firs time in about 40 years. Now going to get some track 😂. Thank you for posting this great video.

Just discovered this super video. I'm building Minories as a District Railway 00 gauge model so it is interesting to view it as a high level town terminus. The Hornby stock is great.

Super operations at classic Minories small, busy, town terminus. Hornby Dublo stock adds extra variety and interest. Just a small observation if I may, please, strictly speaking when a departing train leaves a loco standing at the buffers, this standing loco should follow the departing train as far as the platform end, where it should stop and remain until the signalman give permission for it to proceed. This rule means that there is never a loco left standing at the buffets, which the signalman is unaware of, and which could cause a collision with an incoming train. I don't know whether your system of layout control permits this. I really enjoyed this and all your videos. Thanks so much for sharing!

Nostalgia . . Like you would not believe . . Had a 6x4 in my bedroom fromq1950 through to '58 which restricted what you could run by comparison with that which I am viewing here which is absolutely amazing. Love the loco shedding . . As Toad said 'Simply Glorious'

Beautiful train sets. Unfortunately it was too little, too lat. I had had 10 years of 3-rail by this time and to switch was not going to happen. I loved my Hornby-Dublo and I have most of my 3-rail equipment to this day, but never kept up the hobby in adulthood (now 77). Thanks for the memories though.

Christmas day must be the best day of the year to play with toy trains closely followed by boxing day, the day after boxing day, the next day so on and so forth until the next Christmas day and some new trains to play with, Merry toy train day and a happy toy train new year.

Why the musak and no commentary?

Great short film of a classic layout design (based on London Liverpool St Metropolitan Lines LT terminal) using classic Hornby Dublo trains, wonderful, and enjoyable. I had read that CJF had envisaged a steam suburban operation of the train arriving, a tank locomotive leaves the short loco release stub siding, attaches to the arrived train, and then departs, leaving the arrival loco to move to the short siding, and wait to attach to the rear of the next steam suburban train. I understand that LT did this at Baker St (?) with the LT xMetropolitan BoBo electric locomotives (services to Amersham?) doing a similar sequence, hence the Minors design. Lovely layout, and an enjoyable film, very well done.

I had a copy of that plan book when I toyed with the idea of building a model railway back in the late 50s, but we moved house and the space went away.

Hi, The signal gantry should be reversed as the only signal aspects possible on entry to a terminus is a yellow or red aspect, yellow for proceed to the next red signal (ie red at the end of the line) or a red to hold the train at the signal. If the signal gantry is facing the other way a 3 aspect signal gives the illusion of the line disappearing to some far off destination.😊

Got a set with this box for Christmas approx 1955or 1956. Silver King loved it. Still have the engine and Tender which still works.

Hi, Clive, nice video. One small correction. It is Schatten Banhof, which is indeed the shadow station. The word Schaffen is to achieve something. Like Mrs Merkel said: Wir Shaffen das.
