    Did you use this space in the winter? Did you need to supplement another source of heat to help keep the space warm, or did the floor heating keep the space warm?

    • @OurFirstCabin
      @OurFirstCabin Před 3 měsíci

      We used it for 2 winters actually and it was def warm enough to survive the NE winters. It can even be too hot if you leave it on too long.

    How wide of a driveway did you put down? How wide of a clearing? I'm about to start marking out where I plan to put in our driveway and I'm thinking of a 12-14ft wide driveway and would guess I'd need to clear 5 feet on each side to have room for a drainage ditch and clearance of trees on each side. Our driveway will be roughly 3/4 of a mile.

    • @OurFirstCabin
      @OurFirstCabin Před 5 měsíci

      Ours is about 10-12 ft but it actually depends on your town code. We originally envisioned a narrow driveway to creat a kind of tree Forrest tunnel but we found out it has to be over 10ft for fire trucks to get in etc. also important to consider heavy equipment that you might be transporting in and out for your build. 3/4 mile is a long driveway!

    I just saw this, I know its a year old, so commenting is a bit off. I am glad I see an option like this. I always wish when people do reviews of how warm thing are would have a legit mercury thermometer inside and outside so we can see the actual temps. That being said, this could be a very good option for my cabin remodel. Thanks.

    • @OurFirstCabin
      @OurFirstCabin Před 7 měsíci

      It's a great option for sure! This can heat a space to the point where it's too hot frankly. We have had winters in the teens and with sufficient time it can bring this tiny cabin to a comfy 70s and more if we kept it going.

  • @mikemellon80

    That’s insane costs. I just built a 2100sqft house in 2022. Brick front. granite and tile in bathrooms. Higher end house. $351,000. I’m about to build my own 600 sqft cabin and I’m thinking cost will be around $40,000. I can’t imagine it costing that much to build yours

    DEN drawings cost way wayyy.. too much. Especially when you consider they are sold in mass and not custom for a client. They are also fairly simple. On the other hand, there's never been a better time to spend way too much on everything.

    Hello and thank you for this video! I have a cabin upstate, it's on a slab, floating floors on top and it they are very very cold!! I'm planning on adding this product to the kitchen and living room which it makes about 600 sqft. My contractor send me a quote today of around $8000 including materials and labor. He would have to remove all the already installed first. I was wondering if it's worth paying that much or if you think that's a reasonable price. I also wonder if it could heat up those two rooms in the coldest nights of upstate NY. Thanks a lot!!!

    • @OurFirstCabin
      @OurFirstCabin Před 2 lety

      Well we purposely tried to overestimate each of the line items of the budget.l so we hope we will stay below our estimate because of that. It is however almost the norm to always end up being over budget when building a home, but our window order is already about $20k below what we thought so that's a start!
