The F-Type will always be a stunning vehicle. However with the 2018 model they've spoilt the front by going away from the side gills and the round LED head lights. And while AWD is practical, in keeping with the true Jaguar sports car heritage such a car should always be RWD. After all this car is meant to pay homage to the E-Type. The AWD also takes away from the dramatic bonnet power bulge present in the earlier models. So if I was in the market for one, I'd go for a used 2017 model with RWD. Better looking and cheaper.

Fair enough! Each to their own. I was actually referring to MY17 models of which my local dealer in Sydney still has 2 RWD F-Type coupes still available amongst some AWD's which are some 30K more expensive?As I said in my previous post, the AWD is practical if you live in areas where it rains a lot or there is ice, sleet, snow etc. In my case where I live we barely see that much rain let alone the rest. So why would you want to pay more for a heavier car that has lost the original beauty of the concept vehicle CX-16 (in my opinion) and most importantly takes away the fun/thrill factor of lighting up those rear wheels. Besides there are plenty of safeguards built into the RWD F-Type to control such situations when driven in a spirited fashion in DRY conditions. I grew up with Jags, E-Types, MK2's, XJS's to name a few and I consider proper Jags to have the engine in the front and driving wheels at the rear. I'm more an advocate for the true heritage of Jaguar and the smile they should bring to your face when driving them. If your a serious, more analytical driver who cares about being 0.1 or 0.2 of a second faster around the track then buy a 911. As I said before, each to their own.

50k cheaper!! Should be more like 90k cheaper. The XJS is after all a 30-40 year old car. And like most Jaguars, including F-Types depreciate pretty quickly. Anyway, enjoy driving your XJS Peter.

The yanks will lap it up, because it's British, but the reality is this car will spend more time in the shop than an equivalent Merc. Check out the UK stats for reliability - doesn't make for good reading.
