What I love about this scene when digging into the Legendarium is that these are only Lothlorien Wood Elves, The Nandor and some Silvan. Even though they died relatively quickly in the movies they are still a forced to be reckoned with. so just imagined what a full Noldorin High Elven army would have done

Peculiar detail. When Theoden talked to the troops before the Minas Tirith battle it appeared as if he summoned Hades (or Thanatos) in purest form. They had a banner with a pale horse. At the end perhaps there was a price tag for victory: something came to claim.

I always loved that the Elves honour alliances from literally thousands of years ago. All those men they were friends with are long dead, but to the Elves time is kind of meaningless in a way, and they hold themselves to such high standards that they still remember that understanding.

@@waynepurcell6058you do know that Tolkien was rewriting and thinking back on parts of the story and lore til he died right? I doubt he would be anything less than happy over this scene. It reinforces so much of the history while not taking anything from the main events.

This is one of my favorite scenes.
When I first saw this scene years ago, I cried tears of joy. I could feel everyone’s hopes rising in the room. Then I found out it wasn’t even in the book! Which makes this scene so much more special

It is sad that this scene never happens in the book, but for some Peter Jackson reason, is added to the movie. Yet, the movie totally ignores the Dunedain, also known as the Númenóreans or Men of Westernesse, of whom Aragorn was recognized as heir to the Kingship, joining him in Rohan. They were the Rangers of the North who, at Gandalf's request, watched over protected the Shire and followed Aragorn through the Paths of the Dead. They could have easily been added to the movie. In the book, Haldir has one short line and never leaves the tree he is hiding in.

Why are there no black elves?
Because Lord of the Rings is not supposed to be about poc. It's a purely European/white fantasy world and there's nothing wrong with that. Just like how Avatar the Last Airbender is supposed to be a fantasy world for Asians and Native Americans to an extent.

One of the best deviations from the books. Much better than the army of the dead at Pelenor Fields, I was looking forwards to seeing an army of rangers and the Gondorians Aragorn picked up swinging to the rescue.
