Just Doing Work.
I have established this channel to develop my skills at filming and editing short videos, and give back to the DIY community on CZcams that I have leveraged over the years to help with my projects. Although heavily focused on minor maintenance and repairs on vehicles, my aim is to focus more generally on DIY jobs that can be tackled by home-owners, vehicle owners, and more generally on those that endeavour to repair their own things. I will be doing maintenance and repairs on my 2013 Mazda 3, 2012 Nissan Pathfinder, and 2005 Honda Pilot initially, but plan to continue to expand as I eventually sell these vehicles and purchase new ones.
I will continue to ensure that I provide not only information on how I performed the DIY work, but also on costs and savings so others can determine if the effort was worth the savings. Cheers.

Thanks for watching. Glad it helped
Does the car have to be on when poking the low pressure side?
Even when the car isnt running there is still some pressure on the low and high sides
They can easily last 100000 miles, I changed the ones in my Nissan Frontier, I will changed them again at 200000.
I think it might depend on which brand and type of plug you use, but generally iridium plugs last a very long time
@@DIYNorth I use NGK Iridium, my Frontier odometers reads about 180000, in 20K more miles I will use your method to changed them. Thanks for the good video.
I think the NGK ones are the best to use. Best of luck with the change.
You do all that with new spark out pak...sand paper??? They don't ever do that for cars
You can check the gap and clean a car's spark plugs if you wanted to. Also, this isn't a car.
@@DIYNorth So you recycle a spark plug when a new one is 5 bucks..🤭.
@9th_child yes and it is still working today. "Recycle" is also a very inaccurate word choice. Its checking the gap and cleaning it. It takes about two minutes. Recycling is the conversion of waste into something useful. The plug is just fine and would not meet the definition of waste.
Seems to be a very common cause of CEL. Thanks for sharing buddy!
With 2 vehicles approaching 200k Miles I feel that I will be fighting a lot of check engine lights in my near future.
@@DIYNorth I hear you! I just got done fixing a coolant leak on my 09 GX. It was a pain in the a$$, but still much cheaper than a single car payment by doing it DIY!
Gotta save that money.

Thanks for checking out some videos. I have a lot of mazda 3 videos, overall reliable car though. My channel has no real focus, just whatever I'm working on each week. It seems like something is always breaking though so there is always something to post.
Stupid design
It's not convenient
So I understand the intention of this. All this does is pull colder air back into your furnatfle recirculation so your AC doesn't have to work as hard. This does reduce the airflow draw from other rooms in the house. Is that correct?
yes it would
I've been using valvoline maxlife synthetic fluid for years. $25 for a jug at Walmart.
Is that a 5 liter/quart
@@DIYNorth 1 Gallon jug or 4 quarts
@@TDK2K that's a pretty good price
Thanks for the video!
No problem, thanks for checking it out.
Do u really need the thread locker on the plug?
No
Good stuff, I hear five clicks before the AC compressors louder 5 clicks come on and those clicks are a lot closer to the front left side near and or under the Air Box Filter. What are those 5 clicks before the AC compressor comes on? Thanks for sharing.
Which vehicle are you doing it on. I'm not sure if they are all the same. For me it was the lights on and off before the AC. It might be the something that controls the lights turning on and off, but I really am just guessing.
@@DIYNorth Its an 03 Infiniti FX45.
@@ELEVOPR It looks like it might be the same order for the test for that as well. Not sure what the clicking is though.
Informative video but I noticed you did not show how to change the transmission filter which is important too.
Thanks for checking it out. There is no recommended change interval on the filter. I wouldnt replace it on every change.
Could you do a full testing video with no commentary? Unlike here in America, these models in Canada do not talk and in America they do.
I'll see, I have a few videos racked up now and I have to do some videos for a couple companies that are sending me stuff. Eventually yes, but it would have to enter a pretty long list of stuff that has been piling up on me.
Awesome explanation
thanks for checking it out
Mad skills, my friend. Sodering is one skill I am yet to master. Well, and playing a guitar is another😂
I'm just trying to get into soldering. It's not too hard. I'm just messy.
@@DIYNorth haha, I even misspelled it! 🤦♂️ Your soldering job is turning out great! Keep up the good work! I’m working on fixing a coolant leak on my GX470- a failed gasket that is buried under the intake manifold and overpass water pipe- a major PITA!
@@MaximumDIYGarage On a positive note youtube generally pushes the long form videos and that sounds like a very long video. In fact it might be a couple of videos. I have a mystery check engine on the mazda that i am ignoring.
Same car and engine here, 135k miles on the original belts. No squeal yet, but the serpentine belt does have a ton of cracks in it. Not sure about the water pump belt, cant see it until I dig into it. Was thinking about changing them, even though they are performing fine, dealer quoted me something like $285 if I remember correctly. I would like to do it myself, but I don't have any tools, a jack or jack stands.
You should have a jack. It should be in the trunk with the spare tire. It just kind of sucks. You probably know someone with jack stands, but if not you can get a decent pair for $50 and they will last forever. I'm not pushing you one way or the other, but even if you need to buy every single tool and the belts, I don't think that you would spend $150.
@@DIYNorth fair points. Although I wouldn't want to use the scissor jack, a floor jack would be so much more convenient, or even a bottle jack.
Ok try switching ports on the back of you computer it worked for me just a try but the mouse I was using worked on windows and not bios
some computers have a rear USB that is supposed to have priority for operation. Or so I have been led to believe.
You didn5 really dewcribe how to pit the wheel on and docthe quick release probably the most vital things
I'm sure other videos might cover that on youtube.
Hi me again, just before I go ahead and clean up the throttle body. I see some people disconnecting the battery, is it necessary? I wouldn't think so, however just asking. Thank again mate!
I don't think that the throttle body will open with the battery disconnected. This is an electronic throttle body rather than one that runs off a cable.
@@DIYNorth That's what I was thinking also. Thank 👍
My problem is that my cpu has no integrated
That is a problem. I don't run CPUs that don't have integrated graphics anymore as I found it to be an annoyance when trouble shooting the computer.
@@DIYNorth this is so random. So i forcefully reinstall my bios, and walaahh problem solve. Even updated bios can cause problem. So reinstalling it maybe a solution
Yeah, now that you mention it sometimes going to factory bios has fixed my issues. I'm not sure why it can become non-functional on its own, but yes doing a reset has also saved me. Just not for a GPU black screen issue.
So I've tried saving my FFVII and it goes at 0.01 mb/s. Wth?
Not sure do other games go faster
@@DIYNorth I figured it out, I'm on the newest Evilnat? And I read a few places where people had to switch back to rebug to get it backed up, or ripped, in a decent amount of time, but I just did what your video said to switch multiman to whatever mode? And now it's doing it in an hour at 0.18 mb/s instead of 2345235:30 min at 0.01 mb/s like it said last time ahahaah
@@DIYNorth It literally stayed at 1% for over an hour!!!!

hey just bought a rtx 3060 ti i have a lga 1151 and a 600w psu the graphic card at the start shows litlle small white lines fragments can anyone help
Does it show lines when connected to each of the GPU outputs? Have you tried a different hdmi cable?
Would this work on a 2014 pathfinder?
They arent the same, but the principles are the same. I've never seen that engine though.
underrated, cool informative video Liked 👍
Thanks for checking it out
Thanks. The Mazda dealership charged me $199 for this
That is quite a lot. They may have done a full 8 L flush, but still.
@@DIYNorth Nope. Drain and fill only. Mister Transmission quoted a higher price than that.
@@deshanchathura what I have found to be universally true is the engine oil changes are kept at a lower price, but other things like transmission, differential, etc are very much inflated. Even though they are just as easy or easier, and the fluid costs less.
BTW, did you continue using 0W-20 synthetic oil even after the total mileage exceeded 100k miles or used a different grade?
I'm still using the exact same stuff. It's at 260k (km). About 163k miles. No issues with it.
@@DIYNorth Thanks again
TFS. Very informative
no problem, thanks for watching
Thanks for doing this video. Pretty straightforward and easy to follow
Thanks for checking it out
I put two gallons
Like US gallons
Great video, thanks for uploading. Can you share which dealership had the fluid for $14/L and which had it for $24/L? I am not mechanically inclined like you and I am getting this job done at the dealership in Orleans. I am wondering which dealership has the best service, rates, prices, etc. from your experience.
Bank Street Mazda had the cheaper price on fluids. Its not the first time that I have noticed that they are less expensive. I'm closer to the one in Orleans so I'd rather go there. I would recommend calling the three in town for anything that you want done. There is always one that is less than the other two for some reason, but it isn't always consistent. I haven't really compared their labour rates though, only parts.
Aisin Atf-mfz is $9 for cheaper transmission fluid. They are the company that makes transmission fluid for Toyotas.
Good info. I usually get the company branded ATF though.
@DIYNorth I just go on rock auto for parts and check with the owners manual for what fluids the car takes. Like fl 22 coolant is just a slightly more concentrated Asian green pout coolant. They make it more concentrated so they don't need as much changing as water gets into their system.
My 2012 Mazda 3 Skyactiv is the same color as yours.
It's one of their better colors I think
Life saver bro <3
Thanks for watching
If I don't get it fixed. Will it have any effect on the car's headlights ? or anything else ? I called dealership and they said $170+Gst for this. I am student and we know students are usually broke !! lol
It shouldnt do anything. I drove mine like that for years. It's just annoying
Does the other engine’s bank have another PCV Valve ?
My manual indicates that the V6 has one and the V8 has 2.
@@DIYNorth Thanks buddy
Sir I would actually ADVISE you AGAINST spraying the door lock actuator (2:15) because I did that to both front doors and ended up having to replace them shortly after. This resulted in a door is open warning that would flicker about 50 times while driving.
Interesting. I've had no issues with it. But thanks for the information.
You look AI generated sir.
No, I was generated before AI was really a thing. I was generated by more traditional means.
Hi, I also live in canada nad have 2012 mazda 3. GT. Do you think it's worthy to own an extended warranty. I can do some light maintenance, but not as good as you mate.
I've only had an extended warranty once and I never used it for anything. I'd only get one if it was a pretty good deal. The insurance company makes money off the product so they have to charge above what they pay out. If the car is known to be very reliable I wouldnt get the extended warranty, but if it's a less reliable car then I'd consider it a bit more.
You’re right, the middle one on the passenger was a bear. The electrical connector on the coil killed my fingers.
But is the job done? For sure though, that one has to be the worst.

@DIYNorth after screaming, yelling, kicking and biting… I got it done! 😂. I would’ve taken a sledgehammer to my car if I had tried that without this video.
Glad the video had some utility.
I can’t believe how f-ing hard this is! My neighbors hate my guts, I’m out there cussing up a storm, and the top will not stay in place, when it did (once) the boy fell when trying to install the bottom. Stupid design Mazda!!

Hey I've a 2012 Mazda 3 axela and I just received my eonon head unit the problem is my car's connector doesn't match the eonon one ,where can I get the stock connector to buy? Link me please.
I honestly have no idea. Maybe at mazda. What I would do is go to a local pick and pull scrap yard and just pull one out of a mazda there. It's honestly the cheapest and easiest way to get electrical connectors
