No. 8 thread is the same as #30. There are also no. 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 and 100. The size of thread is according to the project you are going to make. The higher the number, the thinner thread will be. Thanks for sharing, great ideas.

Really awesome tutorial, with nice story times... After a rather long time I was able to do this pattern. Thrilled! The wonders of working the lace threads came clear. Thanks to you and your kind explanations, I finally understand and now have an ever growing enthousiasm. And I certainly agree about winding the bobbins 😁

Thank you for this. I'm a trainee embroidery artist, and have done both needle lace, needle weaving, and kumihimo (along with the lace effects in white work embroidery).... But feel it's important for needle artists to try a really wide variety of traditional needle arts. Bobbin lace intimidated me, and also wasn't sure if patterns were limited to geometric designs... But think this is definitely something i should be trying: and learning as part of rounding out my studies!! Thank you for making such an easy to understand video.... It's almost as if the bobbins are in a dance (thinking the grand dances where people would start in pairs, then exchange partners in formations).... It's a really beautiful technique, and think itll be lovely to work with silk threads (the sensation of working with silk is wonderful, and a favourite thread).... But obviously will begin with cheap cotton floss threads!

I tried the spider and for a first try it didn't look to bad not as neat as your's but close enough . Need practice but I think I understand what I'm doing.

I have hoarded my LGB’S for a few years now. I started making junk journals a few years ago. I love working with them. Back some time ago, I found a whole set of the Walt Disney books, encyclopedia’s. I bought the whole set and made my grand daughter a journal for her memories. I used the books from my son’s birth year and my DIL’s birth year to decorate it with. I think mom and dad loved it way more than she did because she was just a year old. It turned out so cute!

Did you forward the money you refunded to the OG creator of the pattern?

I know this video is 3 years old and you probably already know this…but you can heat the gold foil up with a heat gun and it will peel up. Makes it so much easier to get the staples out.

I saw the Instagram blurb about someone demo'ing a product and having 3imillion views, but because she didn't do it 'this' way, she missed out on (I think it was around 30k$?!)....... therefore, ya, I'm glad you said no to a free pair of glasses, as that wouldn't have come close to retribution ------ even if they hand bobbined them out of SOLID GOLD AND PLATINUM, dipped in chocolate sauce and rolled in crushed nuts. Though, those last two parts do sound pretty tasty. Smell good, too. And a good crunchy texture. Um.... Ya............ Excuse me, I, I think I hear the 'doorbell'. Ya. Bye.

Wanted to get into this but didn't know where to start, glad I found this lol

My two cents: I loathe "how to videos" with incessant babbling. I usually have to stop watching those videos, just watching, (muted) isn't a way I learn. I don't find you particularly "chatty" or babbling. You only tell specifics about your tools/supplies, and you're going to get ALL those questions in the comments, why not just say it on the video. I like NOT having to think about the question for the entire video and can instead concentrate on what you're showing. Also, I like enough info without info overload, and you don't overload. Your talking during the video is mostly centered on what you're doing. You're not talking about stuff we don't care about - we heard a noise, we of course wondered about it, in seconds you explained with a sentence and returned to your task. That's what I like. Because you're explaining without overload as you go, I find these videos to be excellent. I walk away with very few questions and feel more confident about trying it because of your amount of talking and because it's not useless info you're spouting off. I'm not here to be social, I'm here to learn.

i seen others say the 1 is a cross (name of stich) and the 2 is a twist. so its cross, twist, cross. cross is always to the bonbin moving right. the twist is always moving to the left.. don't know why they all emphasized that.. just sharing..

This was GREAT. good explanation, perfect speed (slow enough that I could follow), perfect camera height (I could see the bobbins and where they go), encouragement about errors, honestly this was just what I needed.

I to have Murphy(Murphy’s Law)moments like that where I’m trying to get my stuff done to go home on my early day and I get numerous calls and orders seemingly at the last minute or at least the last 30 minutes that I may have to act on.
