Working in networking and server administration I’d get fired if I wasn’t outputting something of value. I think it depends on how big the company is for that scenario. By and large I don’t think smaller companies < 150 would tolerate that.

This vide is a misleading. You CAN NOT get a cloud engineering job just with Az 900 certification. You can't even do this with Az 104. You NEED experience. You can land a Cloud job with experience and 0 certs but you CAN NOT get a cloud job with certs an 0 experience.

The AZ-900 qualifies you for absolutely nothing and no one is even going to hire you for tier 1 helpdesk with it, let alone an engineering job. Sure, it's a fine little addition to an already well-rounded resume, great for showing your employer you're motivated to learn if you're in your first year on the job. But that's it. I'd like to see this guy's actual LinkedIn before I believe anyone is hiring you for an engineering role based on the AZ-900.

Hey thank you for the video, this is real useful information. AWS Cloud Practitioner, after you get that cert and move on to any associate level cert, the knowledge gap is hugh.

I want to take the AWS Cloud Practitioner first to better familiarise myself with AWS and then I will have 50% off to take the Solution Architect exam. I started preparing for the Solution Architect first but I found that I have some gaps in my knowledge and it is a lot of material.

Toby another great video! Getting a job as a cloud engineer is hard if you have no experience, but definitely not impossible. It’s a very nuanced specialty and requires the foundations of Linux, Networking, Root Cause Analysis, being curious and getting familiar and working with Docker, Terraform, Cloud Provider, etc. My experience is working in a tech company starting off in an IT Security Support role performing level 1 tasks and eventually being able to build up my fundamentals perform level 2 tasks like working and configuring VMs in the cloud for employees, network troubleshooting, IAM using Okta, automating security groups with Terraform, and getting proficient at working with Linux and the terminal. I would still say I’m still a newbie after this and am interviewing for a Cloud Support Engineer internally, but there’s just so much to learn which is great, but also not easy. It took me 8 months to get relatively proficient in these skills, but it takes effort and actually enjoying. I really enjoy this the cloud environment in general, but not interested in Software development. I think people believe that they can learn the basics of AWS and some linux and get a cloud job, but unless you’re incredibly lucky or have a substantial network, you have to be employable, hungry and passionate. This applies to any role and specialty, certs can be great for HR, but you need to bring value and passion, otherwise it’s going to be difficult and you said being WFH is great, but you need to actually demonstrate to an employer or client (consulting) that you can do the job and deliver.

Thanks bro appreciate it. My mentor guided me towards cybersecurity and cloud, but i needed to know where to learn the fundamentals so my transition into cloud more smoothly. So this video gives me a good rough draft of how to go about this journey of just breaking into tech.

Cert with without experience is nothing , dude's got 10 years of experience before the cert . For noobs you need to build a portfolio of projects in your resume just to get a call. It doesn't matter what cert you have without relevant experience its just paper. Cert+ work experience at least will get you a foot in the door via interview calls. In the end , any knowledge is good knowledge but cert itself can't land you a job.
