My encounter with Brahms First Symphony was in the early 60s. A few years later, when I have heard the all 4, either live or in 33’ RPMs. my music circle (friends and relatives), did the customary (nonsense) “contest” to select the best. I selected the First, I guess that I was biased for my remembrance of my first exposure to such a masterwork, beautiful melodies, etc. but my insight of the 4 symphonies is that I experience them as a single (Wagnerian work),I don’t remember other cases, but the First Symphony was clearly the first movement of my Brahms master symphonic work of ‘“4 movement”; the last theme of the third movement was distinctly a farewell song; I guess that Karajan shared my feeling.
Quien es esa chica!! Xfi!!! Bravissssdimo!!
Ooooo mi Dios esta mujer es una Gallina cantando ni idea lo que es cantar !!! Un griterío lo que hizo !!! Un asco 🤢
Amazing moving vocals!
😢

😢 uno schifo totale!

In my opinion I think Jean Baptiste Lully was a greater classical composer then Johann Sebastian Bach Ludwig von Beethoven Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
BRAVO😳👏👏👏👏
The soprano has quite a wide vibrato, which some people might like...
She's shit- dreadful woman- encountered once or twice at IU- thats enough
why the masks? mental...
Well done Jeffrey, I haven't seen you play since your father's memorial. Very moving!
Great for a University but not practical for filling seats in an opera house that needs money to exist. Also William Bokum far superior composer of opera.
En directo tiene que ser,una pasada escuchar ópera .👏👏👏👏 13:07
I don't play nice and pretty with the flute or oboe or horn. We are having an orgy. It must be sensual. It must be primal. Like a Whitman poem. I speak as a musician.
When I play Brahms it is a serious orgy of sound. Mozart was above the waist. Play pretty and precise. But everything about Brahms is below the waist. Nothing pretty and safe. Everything must be expressed with an animal base. LISTEN TO THE FUCKING MUSIC!!!
I do not know how you can play Brahms unless you've passionately made love to someone. And unless you have had your heart ripped out. I don't know how else to play his music.
really entertaining to watch
This Nutcracker was absolutely spectacular!
Do you have the complete opera? Could you post it? It would be a present to us💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐
Oh my...the chorus😵💫
Great video. Could you enable the Spanish translation, for many people who love classical music?
Fantastic!!!
Just went a tad flat at the very end
Bravo Maestro!
Christopher: have you heard this wonderfully controlled, musical performance?
Achingly beautiful and such a fantastic production, thank you poster
Just performed this piece for my first solo performance in College thanks to you and this video🙏🙏. Thank you for being amazing
This is how it should be done; it’s twice if not more difficult than the Queen of Night Aria, and the fainting at the end is perfect because of her emotional exhaustion
Cool music😊
Could you turn on captions/transcription please?
Thanks to Harvey, the tuba and euphonium in Japan also flourished, and the Sapporo International Convention in 1990 was made possible by his support. We will never forget Harvey! We All Love Harvey Phillips as our Great Mentor❤
Oops forgot to mention after making your way around campus and finally finding Jacob’s school of music…And after taking lessons since you were three years old. even though you’re on time, they may not let you warm up, tune and then cut you audition short!
Always liked him from my youth. Just recently grasped how multi-talented & versatile he truly is. An amazing soul, serious- hilarious- beautiful all at the same time. Costumes, personas ... What can we say. .. Re-discover him if you haven't already. His mature genius is something quite unique. 🍒
So nice to see and hear Dave again!💜
Beautiful playing! What a great tone
On the third manual, I noticed one of the keys is not in line with the other keys it needs to be tightened up, it's one of the keys that are more or less to the left on the third manual.
So what it is? The thing that happens after the playwright's job is done?
I remember playing this for my junior recital and having to travel down the stage with 4 stands to be able to read all the music!
Amazing, Jean-Louis! I love Alkan, what a absolutely lovely selection of his works.
We will miss Jeffrey’s improvs at St Paul’s K-st
Bravo!!!
That was a beautiful flute stop right at the beginning.
Thanks to the vision of Dean Wilfred C. Bain and Dean Charles Webb the School of Music today has capitalized on there visionary conceptions of what the future of music at IU would be in years to come and the students and faculty of today reap the benefits of these two outstanding men.
hey Chris - from one Bates musician to another, this performance is ridiculous. Wow George Griffin '82
holy smokes
