I have been burnt by blind buying titles so now I only blind buy Blu Ray's and DVD's from pawn shops charity shops that way if they are not worth a rewatch it's only cheap

Blind buying is super worth it. I have found so many gems doing this. I’ve struck out a few times but that’s the cost of admission.

I have had the Sony x700 for over a couple years and I have had almost no issues watching my blu rays and 4k blu rays on it. Maybe one movie froze or skipped but I didn’t even remember about it until I saw people saying they have had many issues with this model. I put a lot of work into my Sony x700 so I can say for certain that I have not had any of those issues that I have been reading or hearing of. I would recommend the Sony x700 to anyone that wants a really good 4k player and wants to save some money. It’s been really wonderful. I want to upgrade to a newer player and I was looking at the Sony x800m2, but I don’t really see it having a big difference from my x700 so I may just save a little more money and upgrade to the Panasonic ub820. Though it seems it also has all the reviews and Reddit posts saying it gives out after the warranty expires and all the same issues of skipping and freezing. It’s making me nervous about dropping such a large knot of money on a machine that may give out before a year or so.

I buy my music from apple and I think it’s better to buy your music on cd and digital causes sometimes the albums you buy on iTunes will include bouse tracks which are only available on digital and not cdplus when you buy from iTunes the files aren’t drm lock .

I'll collect physical media as long as it's available. Ive been hearing/reading that studios may start altering their movies and tv shows. Like leaving out certain scenes or leaving out episodes. MAX has left out 1 or 2 episodes of FRIENDS for example. Streaming services can take off a show or movie whenever they want. Physical media is yours forever and cant be altered.

Most 4k disc problems are from smudges. All disc boxes have a chemical residue on the inside from manufacturing. When the replicated disc is put in the box from a robot the disc gets pushed into the residue that will be on a brand newly opened disc. When taking your movie out of the box by pushing the release button you're pushing the disc into the chemical residue also. Do a vertical wipe with a microfiber cloth before playing. If your movie is a single disc, when putting it back in the box insert it backwards with the art to the box wall to keep the residue off the laser read side of the disc.

I have the Sony UBP X700 and since applying the correct settings its perfect. CZcams has videos showing you which settings to turn off to stop the freezing problems.

I bought the lg UBK90 player and man, do I regret it. Freezes on dual layer discs every time on first play through. For some reason once the disc is cached into memory it doesn’t happen again. Nevertheless, super disappointing. Really thought LG would update the firmware at some point to address but it never happened.

Are any of these capable of playing any region for normal blu-rays?

Cinemark has cineartes in my area which show smaller independent and foreign films I’ve seen more smaller movies because of this and as a movie lover this made Cinemark the best theater for me

I have never had any problems with Samsung DVD player the DVD player plays video files witch DVD player cannot play to day today

Unfortunately they do freeze on video files and some video files the picture is good but the audio doesn't match the picture pixels

I'm sure Panasonic does make good quality DVD player but you have to spend a lot of money for it the three D function is just a load a bull crap

I love my physical media, still buying and collecting Vinyl and CD's, in fact the same topic you covered here is just as valid in respect of books, as I also love to collect and read books. Now some years ago the Kindle was issued, bit like a walkman for book worms, where you could download a book for a fee. Now for me this is great when on vacation, easier to take with me as opposed to a stack of books, but I only use it in that context once, maybe twice a year if that. My main source of reading has always been and always will be a book. And like CD's I have signed copies of my favourite books by the likes of Ian Rankin, Mark Billingham, and the debut novel by Susanna Hoffs, which crosses the boundaries of both Literature and Music, and these hold great memories for me. Don't get me wrong I do stream some music and enjoy that format to a degree, but it's the Vinyl, the CD and the Hardback or the Paperback for me all the way.

As I agree with you on CD's I'm at a point in my life I'm pairing down. I grew up with Vinyl, & just to bulky to store. I dislike monthly services, Grading is a total rip & ruined many hobbies.

Excellent point on the used market as a resource for collecting. The downside is, like others have said, it doesn’t encourage companies to keep producing new physical media because they don’t see any money from that. My general strategy is to buy “new” for recent releases (that also applies to new releases of older films), but buying used for older releases if I can.

My issue is that poor internet makes streaming not work well. I tried to buy some movies from Amazon, but I found out they are not legitimate copies. Often missing scenes or crappy editing where they are removing commercials from a TV recording. Where exactly can I get DVDs or BluRay movies and series which is legitimate? I tried going to Disney store but they don't sell them, and BestBuy stopped selling them also.

I usually go to Cinemark, but i go to a matinee or on a Tuesday which are both cheaper than $10.99.

I KNEW one of the two It movies was gonna be in the #1 spot. That's kind of a fact of life😁

4K looks awful. They're too dark. Apparently that's the way they're supposed to look for authenticity. But I prefer brighter Blurays. They don't freeze up either.

me going out to thrift stores and going through their dvd bins is another level..p.s when comes to streaming its so overwhelming to find something i always resort to watching a movie i already watched 70% of the time

If you can still find an Xbox One S that is a also a great budget option. It still gets software updates as well so it has all of the modern streaming options.

I was a walkman kid back in the day, but recently I started to buy vinyl. I've always liked the big artwork and such. I hate subscriptions, never liked CDs (I'm too clumsy with small things) and if internet fails, I still have my music. I don't find them expensive really, most of the stuff I like are around 20 bucks, those rare I like around 60. and I rarely listen to anything past 2001, so what I like is widely available in this format already. besides all that, vinyls are a great experience.

If you have the money, and enjoy collecting a finite resource that ages even more poorly than CD's or the digital music that has replaced them, (more out of convenience and portability than fidelity) then sure- go "collect" Vinyl. Enjoy getting price-gouged by retailers at any local record shop, getting screwed by online sellers who have no idea what grading even is- unless they're from Japan or Europe- which means also enjoy that extra cash you spend on shipping. If I had a dollar for every thrift shop record I've found that was more playable than the stuff they try to sell in the same crap condition at half-price books, or the local mall at legit NEW MRSP like 30 - 45 USD (which are always just new clones of CD pressings that have nothing special going on audio quality-wise) and who could forget vintage stock or some other corporate entity that has no clue how bad most of the records they even take in.. well anyway I'd have a lot of dollars because I definitely found much more well taken care of LP's from nice old people that donated to tiny flee markets or local neighborhood thrift shops. I bought a particularly nice box set of Handel's Messiah for a dollar among other things. Mostly brand new stuff or "I barely listen to it now that I'm older and my Record player is in the basement or something who knows it hurts to go downstairs now" used record condition. Its a huge money pit, a massive money pit that attracts pedantic personality types, OCD types, and people who think you need a really expensive ticket to get into the same show everyone else is going to see, except it will always sound worse than CD's. Always. No matter how much money you spend. Considering how often they re-release everything over and over again, you're bound to find any re-master that's better sound than the original pre-mixed LP. Every "record shop" store near me is about to close, and I'm in a nice affluent part of the Midwest, in a big sprawling metro area. One of the largest ones carried all this Marantz, Denon, and other high dollar "eccentric" brands which were obscenely expensive. They would also try to sell old used players that would've been considered common counter consumer goods back in the 70's and 80's a.k.a. garbage. The fact that you are investing so much money in an inferior medium is why its just too difficult of a pill to swallow. I ditched almost all of that stuff rather recently and switched entirely back to CD's. My money goes further with any CD or digital release. Their is essentially no reason to purchase anything on LP. *But then again I exclusively only ever listened to classical music so that's my two cents worth of a grain of salt*

I’m starting to buy Blu-ray or even DVD of movies that is relevant for me. What just don’t understand is why the artwork of DVD still way more cool and better then Blu-ray??? Blu-ray is so so simple, most of the movies.

CDs is my choice of music format. Being buying them since 1988. I hope record companies will keep releasing them... If there is a market for them these days.... It looks like more vinyl records are being released than CDs now.

Cds forever ima keep buying them and selling them on 2024 I love physical media. To me streaming dosent exist Let’s keep supporting artist and buy cds 💿 📀📀📀💿💿💿🎶🎶🎶🤙🤙🤙better sound quality and u own the music forever and u get bonus tracks 💽💽💽💿💿📀📀💿

Hey Cody I was just wondering if this new format of physical media comes out and shakes the world of physical media by storm will this mean that more content will be released on those things such as remaining episodes and seasons of Family Guy Scooby Doo and other things like that
