1989 Winnebago 25,000 miles

this Winnebago needs work but it has an awful lot to offer. the motor runs fine, it's a 454 GM. it's 34 ft long. the transmission works perfectly also. it needs two front tires at least. the tires have a little dry rot on them but I've driven on tires much worse and did not have a problem. give me a call if you would like further details. Ask Daryl if we can start “Live At Daryl’s House” again!
Your named your boat Daryl Hall?
Sara Smile! But Georgie was a skinny kid, fond of angling,,,,
Hi, does the engine still works? You drilled a much wider hole than the original plug? I got a 2003, and the material at the hole looks much thinner than in the video. The repairshop wants 2k usd to fix this..
It worked great. $2k is CRAZY especially since it was their screw-up in the 1st place. I would do what I did. If yours is thinner I still would try it. It is just an exhaust passage. It is not going to be high pressure. Best wishes
Is this a problem with only saltwater usage??
and what size allen wrench for the original plug? thanks!
I would imagine that it is much worse on a saltwater motor but even fresh water motors can experience this issue. Sorry not sure of the hex wrench needed.
Quick question. Is that the only plug that's steel, or are there a bunch on that motor?
Only one I know of & I am 99% sure if there were others it would be well known by now. Best 2 ya, CB
Thank you for an outstanding video, and repair. What size brass plug did you use to start the threads? And do your have any additional pointers, that may have come up after this video was made? And thanks again!
You are welcome. Sorry I can't recall the sizes but I thought they were mentioned in the video. As I remember they were the same size. I did not go as deep with the brass because the plugs taper out the deeper you go (ever so slightly as I recall). It has been a long time since I did the video but the end result was perfect & saved a lot of $$$!
I am going to order the new 2015 df 70 or 90. Please tell me they fixed this ?
+Hemlig Hemligt I am 99% ... no ... 99.9% sure they fixed it ... take care, CB
Sweet man! Then it will be a new engine this year! Take care :D
Thanks for your reply, so they have fixed it, or the engine after 2008 should be not easy corrosion right?
I just used a step up bit from Harbor Freight. It was nothing special. The Aluminum was very EZ to bore out.
What did you use to bore out the hole?
This was a 2005, they finally fixed it in 2008 or there about. You should be fine, but it doesn't hurt to ask ?'s.
Hi there, is that even in the latest version of DF90a outboard still using steel at that position? I am going to own a DF90a, but seems need to be "more consideration". I love the test for fuel consumption at all the site testing the suzuki outboard and seems to be reliable until saw your video.
