I'm trying to learn the E7 chord. There are several versions. The Back In The USSR version requires 4 fingers. Wait..3rd string, 5th fret? Is that the B string? Is that the A string 7th fret? Where's my chord chart? That doesn't sound right. Wouldn't it be nice if I could just light it up on the fretboard and know exactly how to play an E7 and get on with learning it? Seriously, hard core guitar snobs seem to be pissy lot having cut grass for 3 years to buy their First Act guitar and 30 lb amp, then had to carry them 5 miles uphill both directions in the driving snow to take lessons and by God if they suffered you should too. If this helps someone learn quicker why not?

Pathetic quality over priced guitars/ the design has engineering flaws and these idiots use katana fret leveler to level frets on their new guitars but the dont do fret crowing after leveling. thats not all. the bluetooth system's button in just next to the input jack, a place which gets hit many times specially if you move your guitar a lot. and the biggest problem is if you turn on the led system and switch to neck pickup you will get buzzing sound of LED's. they know it but dont know how to fix it. I sent them email and told them your designs have flaws they came back saying "Our guitars have no design flaws"

I have one, they play great, very well built, hardly ever adjust the neck. the only thing is that these builders, do they play guitar??? so stupid to put the volume knob right up close to the fucking strings were the hand goes when shredding down down to the small E chord. you playing and bang your hand is on the fucking volume knob. so people look for one that doesn't have a knob right under the bridge pick up. Stupidest thing I have ever seen.

I'm a newbie, but it seems like it'd be hard to see the lights blinking and you'd have to tilt the FB so you can see the lights.

DONT BUY A FRETLIGHT GUITAR if you expect it to work with the lights on! THERE WILL BE A HORRIBLE WHINE WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE ON!!!! Fretlight is perfectly aware of the problem, they have been DUPING their customers for almost 30 years, their LED system is incompatible with magnetic pickups... they know, they just dont care.... call their customer service and they will refund you 100 bucks but that's it, they are happy to keep screwing people over for another 30 years...

What ever happened to this guitar? No updated videos exhibiting new advancements over the years since it first came out, nothing. Stagnant. You Google reviews on this product and there are fewer than ten at each site, and years old.

I don't know why I read comments because most of them have no real IQ at all. They majority of people that like the idea have jobs. The rest of the knobs and haters need to move out of their mothers basements.

i always grin when people use the term "space-age"....because....we started exploring space back in the 60's lol. I've been using Guitar Pro for about a decade and i'd love to get one of these as a writing tool. Would definitely make improvising solos with unfamiliar scales faster and easier

I don't agree. Nihilism is the path towards truth. Obviously, you can't stop there. But realizing that most of what religion has said is false, is not bad. We have to create our own meaning. Religious institutions and religion as a whole, has been proven to be contradictory, false, and impractical. Therefore, we have to create our own meaning. Having that kind of freedom will lead us to device a better and greater system. So nihilism isn't in itself bad. Its something that at some point in our life we confront. Once that happens though, its necessary to move beyond it.

This looks like a fun way to learning guitar solos but it is a tool and shouldn't replace one on one coaching for learning and developing fundamental techniques, especially for the right hand. If using this system helps inspire a student to "work" it can't be a bad thing. A solo is built from techniques learned. Like other teaching approaches, this approach focuses on learning solos. You'd better have some fundamental abilities before you jump in to learning a RJohnson solo. It might be better to take some time learning the techniques needed to play the solos. I think it would be fun to approach learning solos this way but I doubt that it builds any real solid technical abilities and that is the real "take away" for the learning guitarist.

This is a great teaching aid, wish they had this when i was learning scales. I worked hard at it, but this would have helped!

yeah, know what you mean. i once had an idea for an all in one toothpaste/toothbrush travel kit. turns out, someone beat me to the punch, as well. never really took off tho, cuz of sanitary issues. nothing beats good old-fashioned aural training wood shedding. me thinks this guitar has musical "sanitary" issues ;p

This has more to do with visualization and finding notes, not hearing them. Once fretlight gives you the note, you can still name it and try to remember the pitch.

I find it ridiculous no one understands how this works... It doesn't play itself. It just shows exactly what is being played in the song u have set up on the program. U watch it. Loop what ever segment u want to learn to play and slow it down to ur preference and then follow along. U can also hook up two guitars for a teacher and student. Teacher plays something and the same dots light up on the students guitar so they know what exactly the teacher just played.

FAIL! The whole world learned guitar by improvising... THATS THE FEELING! Not running behind red dots!!!

UNPLAYABLE OUT OF THE BOX. Laughable build quality. Expect to spend another $150 get the nut recut, the frets leveled, and a full setup done. It plays so horribly bad, you will be awestruck that they sell any of these things. Great idea, but a disastrous execution. Literally plays like a $50 guitar, find the worst guitar at GC, and I assure you it plays better than this.

I guess Optek's proprietary software and utility was more useful than their recent collaboration with Guitar Pro..
