Insignia 70" model e70kt2nkajbenng Symptoms: I got this TV for free. I plugged it in and it worked for one startup screen cycle, then went black. Black screen when on, but image viewable with flashlight. If I unplug power supply board from main board, nothing happens with the LEDs. Measure 29-30 VDC going into the LEDs when STANDBY. Measure 70-72 VDC going into the LEDs when ON, but don't see any light. What voltage should these get to run 18 LEDs in series? Is this a power supply board or a failure of at least 4 LEDs in the 4 circuits? FYI: There are 4 circuits of (qty 3) light strips with 6 LEDs per strip in series: 70 volts per 18 LED circuit. Each LED is getting about 4 volts.

Thanks for the video. It was the led strips for my TV. I had 163V DC on the led connector but my circuit board was dark in some areas, didn't find a short so I replaced the led strips and it worked fine. I did turn down the brightness and backlight settings they were set to maximum.

How do you disconnect thebig flat cable from the motherboard?

So I’ve had this exact same TV for probably 5-7 years now and all of a sudden it wouldn’t turn on. The power light would come on then fade away, then blink one long blink, then 15 blinks after that. I found your video, watched the entire thing, grabbed my heat gun, and watched it over and over again while following the tutorial. The first time I was too afraid to hit the processors with 400*F and it didn’t work, so I took it apart and hit it again this time with a thermometer on the processor and cranked the heat gun up to 500*F while making sure the thermometer showed at least 350*F on the processor. Pressed down and held until connections cooled enough to harden and let it sit for a couple minutes and plugged it in and what do you freaking know… the backlight is now coming on the TV is working again!!!! Thank you so so so much!!!! You just saved me from spending money I literally do not have!! I cannot thank you enough!!!

Brilliant video that thoroughly explained your process of diagnosing, solving and repairing a TV that would otherwise end up in land fill. Imagine if SONY had an easy method of sliding in replacement LED strips without tge complete dismantle. Cheers from a 6 blink SONY TV owner in Australia. Will give it a go.

Thanks for this video. My mom's 70 inch vizio v705x-h1 is having this same issue. Going to give it a try before I get her a new one. Another vid showed someone replacing the power/led driver board. He did the strips and it was the driver board. Looks very tedious.

If you glued the diffusers back on, you'd have to open it back up when others fall off.

By the time you're finished smashing the bord around I'm surprised it's still working😂

Just wanted to thank you for this video. I picked up the same TV for free the other day and went straight to that IC and it was shorted. Just got it installed and it fired right up. I am in my 70's and can't keep myself from dragging them home to stay busy. I had forgotten how heavy these older sets are and now gotta wait till someone comes over so I can stand it up. lol Thanks again BD. Have learned a lot from your videos.

I currently have a TCL 55S405 It just flickers on when I try to turn it on very quickly and when I light it up with the flashlight while it's turned on I can see what's showing on the screen And also the volume works I read on a forum before that if it does flash up brightly it could mean that it might not be an LED problem but it seems like just changing the LEDs will likely resolve the issue correct? Since apparently bad LED strips is a common issue with these series TCL TVs Right? I genuinely appreciate any response🙏🏽you must be a super busy guy

Cut a rectangular hole in the table. Place a mirror at 45 deg under the table, on the floor. You won't have to lift the TV up and down. When you plug in to see if there's picture, just step back from the table and look at the mirror.

Hi great video and good info. but my question is have you done a Sony with back light LD board which has more LED wires than just 2 wires for the entire tv? I have a Sony 65X950G got Sony and android logo but then 4 blink red. I just want to confirm it is not any other boards other than the LED before taking it apart. any way to confirm or double check if it is the mainboard or LED board. I don't think the power supply board is the issue as I get all the 3.3v and 12v and I press power I get the Tcon 12v thanks
