I recently copied some recordings from my Yamaha AW1600 Digital Audio Workstation. On there I found an old recording I did in 2006 of a Cambridge Guitar Orchestra concert. This was preceded by a few solos given by Peter Rueffer (Musical Director CGO, 1996-2016). I did a little editing and here is Peter interpretation of Mudarra's Tiento. This was at a time before I started doing video recording, so there's just the titles followed by a still image of Peter.

In July 2022 I had the privilege of recording Sebastian Pompilio at The Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin, Great Shelford, near Cambridge. Sebastian was visiting from Argentina and it was a wonderful opportunity to see him play. He is a great proponent of the works of Astor Piazzolla and has arranged many of these for Classical Guitar. I found this contribution by Mireille Tóth which Google Translate says means "According to Buitrago's dictionary of sayings and phrases, fighting or defending something with a dog's face or having/putting on a dog's face means harshly and crudely, without concessions, and says that "it is used a lot to talk about situations in which someone is faces important issues. The locution refers to the attitude of the guard dog, which barks and shows its fangs when feeling threatened or when it must defend property."

@@MichaelAddlesee This is the answer that the composer himself gave to a pupil of mine who is studying the Sonata: Regarding the titles, each one of them tries to describe a different moment in the city of Buenos Aires... "A pleno sol" (A full sun) tries to describe that "coming and going" in a big city, full of sun, light, speed and a coffee break. "Final de jornada" (End of the day) is that small space when you get home after a hectic day. "A cara de perro" (A dog's face) is a very Argentine expression that describes the strong decision to do something to the last consequences, especially if it is something very difficult. To do it until the end, no matter what happens... That's how it occurred to me to write that "motto perpetuo" in 7/8 as a way to feel the effort and decision to go to the end.
