Welcome to the channel of Misshappycatholic (now Mrs.)!
When I started the channel in 2010 I began by posting recordings of my family, the Yeager Schola (a Schola is an "a capella" Gregorian Chant choir), and liturgies that we sang for. My sisters and I have since taken a break from singing so much to start families of our own, but still teach Chant and sing for special events. I've since made some additions, including poems and songs of G.K. Chesterton's set to music which I composed. After launching a side-job as an author of books, I decided to add some videos related to my writing and home life.
Most recently I've been posting original content as well as other helpful resources related to Catholicism and Traditionalism. I love hosting interviews and giving people a platform for sharing their stories and wisdom! I'd love to hear your story, too!
I hope you enjoy perusing this channel, and may God bless you! Thank you to all my subscribers for your support. :)

There are plenty of clergy that engage elitism
I don’t concern myself with the opinions, preferences or desires of any pope . Including this one. Yes he is the pope. All I care about is is what he teaches in his official capacity and the I do my level best to understand what is being said.
I love how Ezequiel said that right from the start he saw through the errors of the SSPX by simple common sense but still studied them with an open mind. It is very humbling as I was more naive and gullible and less well formed in my faith when dealing with these issues. However, it is by listening to others who are more knowledgeable than myself and their testimonies that helped lead me down the right path - in union with Rome.
7:10 Yes, you are filtering. You are only presenting disgruntled people's stories
You're doing something very similar to what Protestants do when they meet ex-Catholics that left the Church because of negative experiences they had. These disgruntled apostates then become the sole insight into Catholicism and the Protestants can say "See, the Catholic Church is false because of what these ex-Catholics experienced." Then they don't even consider talking to people who are happy and truly practicing their Faith. For example, your interview with Christine of St. Mary's would lead people to believe that all the families who attend the SSPX chapel are like hers and every child in St. Mary's has had the same sad experiences as her. Why not interview some of the people she mentioned like for example the sweet woman who out of charity refer her the the job she got at Angelus Press.
This was wonderful! I think the biggest misunderstanding that many Catholics have of the secular world and those outside the Church is that they love themselves too much, and need to know God's hatred of sin more. This is false. The secular world and many people in it very clearly hate themselves, and need to know God's love. Many non-christians see God as a cruel taskmaster or hateful judge, they don't see him as a forgiving and loving Father. The primary sin of our culture is not presumption; it is despair. Despair that love will never be found except in other people and in the world.
beautiful
The comment where studies show that infertility has just as bad an effect on a woman as cancer - wow, that has been my experience! My wife and I had been fighting infertility for years. After ten years of marriage, we finally have a third on the way, without resorting to sinful methods. To see my wife struggle with this - it's almost like she struggles to know the meaning of her life!
I'm curious as to where historically purity culture came from. Where did it originate? Was it a protestant phenomenon that crossed over into traditionalist catholic culture or was it contained within catholic culture long before and only really blossomed in protestant denominations for theological reasons? Also, how have movements in the secular world responded to this warped understanding of sex and how has that shaped modern culture (sexual liberation, contraception, abortion, and feminism)? What would society look like if a proper understanding of sex, marriage, and gender was widely known and normative? Thanks as always for the engaging discussion!
Excellent conversation, the critical points I took away from this conversation was the corollary of Communio within the Eucharist as like unto our own marriages and the conjugal union. Is it any wonder then that there is so much Marital strife and dysfunction within the Trad community? Since the center point of unity the Holy Eucharist is being celebrated illicitly. There is a supernatural reality which our eyes cannot see-namely the breaking of that bond of unity. That which should be unifying is now a point of division, and when you look at these marriages within the Rad Trad community it is reflective of that.
I converted to Catholicism from an extreme, fundementalist, protestant group. Coming into contact with radical traditionalist groups in Catholic circles reopened many of those wounds. I'm thankful for MissHappyCatholic and others who address these harms, as I was ready to leave Catholisism as well. Resources like Trad Recovery have been so helpful to me.
This was a great convo. Looking forward to part 2!
Part 2 is as excellent as part 1 🙏
Thanks for this very interesting conversation. Nuances and precision are very much needed in this matter. 🙏
It sounds exactly like Muslim and Mormon purity culture-and of course, both these religions are cults and heresies.
I’m more than happy to answer any questions that anyone has. And thanks again Laura for having me on!
Thanks for having me on! If anyone has any questions please feel free to reach out to me!
I love doing the liturgy of the hours, especially by myself. I currently use Christian prayer and shorter Christian prayer only if I can't get to the whole prayers of the day. The four volume set looks like it takes a lot of time and work most of the day, so I don't have that much time to pray. Being, I don't really pray the Office of Readings that much. I do pray most of the Saints and Devotions. There's nothing more rewarding and enlightening and having your time with the Lord.
Thank you Laura
There are no Popes since 1958. Christine is yet another poor victim of another schismatic cult. The throne is not vacant, the throne ended. Jesus returns sooner than later. Pray the Rosary every day. God bless.
Stay strong!! Sending prayers your way. It just shows you why we do what we do. Thank you for everything you do!! <3
Wish I could come! Praying for a healing and successful time! <3
we need a Paul Schofield or a Richard Burton reading this for as it is true that faith comes from hearing so it is also true that flaccid speach doth kill the soul and bore the mind to death
De Sales He slept in trees tied up to limbs lest falling be devoured by packs of wolves most ravenous God's mercy was his power It is by hearing faith is born still wolves gave him no leave those rabid ones in Calvin's church but they would not decieve dead written words were better spent where stones and curses flew and little sermons better preached nailed up for all to view Four lonely frozen winters passed then converts took him down near frozen stiff and broken but his preaching had been found The grace of God had touched men's hearts and opened up their minds The pillar and the ground of truth lent sight to all the blind Still it was so good when I did read and laughter did relieve my religious mediocrity born with the curse of Eve
Pardon me, I'm not quite sure I understand you... you would like to hear the line above in your comment read by Paul Schofield or Richard Burton? Or you think the woman recording the audio for this chapter is flaccid of speech?
Hmmm.....very good video Mrs.
It was uncomfortable experience with going to the break away churches people had holier than thou attitudes and told me not to go to the modern catholic mass
I used to go to SSPX in michigan years ago TLM instead of the novus order. I'm trying to get back in my diocesan of Detroit Michigan for return to the True Catholic Churches in communion with Rome
Boy, has this aged well. Substitute Viganò for Lefebvre.
I love the Traditional Catholic Faith as it teaches the True gospel of Jesus Christ. and encourages us to live our life as such. I have met good traditional Catholic Faith ful Catholics. But unfortunately we have to deal with pharisaical attitudes is very difficult to deal with God forgive me and God For give them cause I have had horrible incidents that I never wanted to have . Happen . And yes I have to agree that slander is a sin . But my heart is with Jesus. Yes I am traditional and love it. It is my cross to carry right now because I have been through to help those that are suffering just like me. We need to forgive each other. And do away with the Pharasical acal attitude. Unfortunately those that have slandered. Severely perhaps even unjustly all the time. Are the ones that may not have had to be in my shoes at all thank God for what have you have said cause maybe I can help those that are suffering in the traditional Catholic Faith to PERSEVERE in their Catholic Faith and love and destroy that PHARITISTCAL ATTITUDE. we are supposed hate the sin but not the sinner as Christ came to call if ti repent of our sins. Thankyou for this I needed to hear this.
Solid video, however there are a couple of points that should be addressed. Around the 9 min mark, you say that some protestant denominations held on to the liturgical books as a basis for the development of their church music, but then go on to say that the Anglicans and Lutherans retained only some. im gonna go ahead and guess that the denominations you're referring to are low church in nature, seeing as how you've excluded what can arguably be considered the only two high church protestant traditions in the world. I'd like to know the historical for the basis of this claim, because after visiting many low church protestant churches, the music is always a reflection of the same low church musical trends they've been following since the 19th and 20th centuries. I've noticed music in the high church traditions to be very similar to ours in the RCC. Lastly, towards the end of the video you credit Irish evangelization (which I imagine happening sometime during the later half of the 19th century given immigration numbers) with high masses being conducted in a more subdued manner. Again, I'd like to know the historical basis for this because your statement doesn't really jive with what we know about how masses were celebrated in the U.S. prior to the ideas of Vat II.

This congregation is well known in social media here in Brazil. I used to watch its contents for a while, and out of nothing I began to get crazy and neurotic.
ST.Marys resident here..... Totally relate in almost every way... Lol this is a crazy place
I don’t know what’s sadder: her story, or how much of it I can relate to.
If you are doing the traditional LOH it’s 7 prayers and a night prayer. The formal does not include the true Lauds which is 3am. Prime is the morning prayer in the reformed LOH which is 6am, not Lauds.

If you’re all willing to abandon guitars and do Latin reverent novus ordo you’ll convert many. Short of that you’ll never get anyone seeking reverence to go to the average parish
Thanks for sharing❤🔥I feel so sorry for her! I am so glad you are on here to help Laura!
What a heartbreaking story ❤️🩹 💔
The devil is able to infiltrate even the best groups!
@@Annabanana727 the idea that any group is “best” is from the devil.
Infighting in churches is all to common. Go to church for God alone. If the church community is good wonderful. If it’s poor then leave immediately after mass. Yes the infighting bad at times. Prat also. Pray the rosary everyday. Sorry it can be difficult.
This is horrifying and heartbreaking. 💔 That poor woman. What disturbs me the most is that this TLM community is in full communion with Rome. Why aren’t these types of things being cracked down on? Is it just not known about? (I’m not blaming the pope at all. Just wondering why this isn’t more known.) I wonder what percentage of in-communion TLM communities are similar to this one in Brazil and which are not radical. That would be an interesting study.
@@blackriflehomestead my own experience was in a diocesan parish. 😞 They just received dispensation from Traditiones Custodes despite regular preaching against the pope and Vatican II. I can’t understand it. It hurts when those in authority allow it to happen. As a result, even if you leave you feel unsafe anywhere.
Would love to come but as I live on the other side of world it's not possible right now. I hope you record the talks and have them available for us on the Trad recovery forum if you don't want to put it on You Tube. Prayers for a successful conference 🙏
We will!! There will still be a cost (TBD) for the talks but we'll definitely put them up for TR site members! Thank you for your prayers!! Wish you could come!!
Praying for this dear woman and all who suffering from similar experiences. Jesus, Mary, Joseph, O Most Holy Family, bring all souls into Your loving Hearts and Home. ❤🙏 🏡
I have a friend from Brazil, and she leans traditional because she claims that in her country, the Marxists have so infiltrated the mainstream Catholic Church there, and it’s so difficult to find a reverent, non-political Mass in the OF, that the Latin Mass, though more difficult to find than in the US, is the only place where people can find reverence and orthodoxy.
You experienced abuse. I’m so sorry 😞 I can relate to feeling sick whenever you are reliving it in any way. And also the feeling of “If they’ll lie about this, what else are they lying about?” I didn’t realize how traumatized I had become. Spiritual abuse is so painful. Give yourself grace and time. Jesus sees it all and he understands. Remember, St. Therese was about little things because she knew she couldn’t do big things. She suffered greatly with anxiety. She understands too. 🙏🏻 for your healing.
This is just so sorrowful. Please let this dear soul know she has friends who believe her story and understand completely her confusion and her recoil from anything that looks/sounds/feels like the horrific experience she had. I don’t know if Fr. Mike Schmitz’s talks have been translated into Portuguese? His words are a soothing balm for the soul.
As a mental health Catholic therapist who has left a somewhat similar situation... this individual needs healing from the Holy Ghost by getting "put back together" from within because she seems shattered. She needs to reclaim the reality of being (beloved in the here and how)...and she needs to own it as the most fundamental truth about herself. I would recommend EMDR or accelerated resolution therapy (ART) to take out the spiritual trauma from the body and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to "put the pieces in herself back together". Her wounds are still there and I wouldn't be shocked if there is a depression and anxiety spirit at war with her. The good news is that God doesn't give her more than she can handle.
What a fantastic discussion. Thank you! I'm going to re-listen and take notes.
