Very nice, what about drainage? Where is rain water being diverted too?
7 years now… update?? Thanks for the demonstration!
Okay… 2024 is here I imagine this thing is looking really nice now.. could you post a quick update.. even just a quick short would interesting to see! 🙂
Short but sweet. Great to see you doing a bit of work. Beautiful plants from China 😮 wow. Gpdat video as always.
Thanks Vincent 🎉 I'm hard at it..😅
Great video, do you need a sump pump for a sunken patio?
Nope just direct the rain water into a drain soak away leading 20 feet away I have a few in and not one was there an issue.
Yeah we all have this equipment just sitting around dumbass
Great video. Did you start this from a standard shrub?
Thanks yes a normal looking Taxus but it would be worth your while getting looking one with multiple stems pick 3 or 4 and development will soon become apparent

Thanks Vincent it was worth the efford, Suits the room, and I enjoyed the whole process. From a lump of wood into a potential suspension for a swing 😅

Hi. Just rhe video I needed. I am planning to build one of these and at present trying to plan drainage. Did you terminate the French drains into a soakaway etc or will the water just drain back to the soil through the pipes? Thanks
Hello I love your video Vb dcyu
Thank, you for your kind words
How deep is it ?
Hi Sara, I dug down 4 and a half feet after in went the stone the drainage the mortar and limestone slabs jow it from slab to top of the wall is 3 and a half feet.
Great ! thank you for sharing
Your welcome
Wow it looks so easy 👍
It is Easy as 1 2 3 😁 cheers 🍻
Well done 🌲✂️👍
Thank you 😊
Do you think that sunken pation would works against noisy road, that is passing a house in Virginia Co Cavan? Perhaps slightly deeper ones.
Good qustion the main reason I built it out my back garden was due too wind and I can have a fire pit 🔥 in and out without the mess of Ash as for noise if the head level is around ground level as you say so if my one was deeper by a foot then yes and or adding some other noise vibration barrier dithch hedge small wall hugging a path way ect then yes it's has got to help noise reduction.Thats a good plan I like your idea well done 👏
How much was the equipment?
Hi Andrew everything you see own from Slabs blocks sand cement pipes diesel petrol equipment required all in at 1100 or 1200 if your renting get the weekend rate or bank holiday and plough into it. Prices and edged north is this video but worth in non the less.
What did you do for drainage? Thanks
As you look inward there is a linear drain on the left hand side I placed in the drainage before I layed a block this is collecting rain water that then is connected into two pipes and two soak pits. All of the lime stone slabs have a gentle run off towards. The drainage on the right hand side as you look in outside the wall one pipe circles around the back the other in five inches inder the slabs that one is a solid pipe the other pipes are the land drainage pipes. It took me four weeks to finish it between work and everything else but it has been worth it
How did you support the dahlia? The video doesn’t show it
Hi Julie I hug the support around the flower stems and sink the leg 4 to 6 inches into the soil and that's a wrap
So beautiful! Bravo 👍
Hi Sylvia thanks I am having some pruning fun 😉
Your like Edward scissors hands.
I know Peter Marks can't match my styles. 🌳✂️✂️✂️

I nearly started crying watching this video. All the onions. They looked magnificent onions. Love them in my omelette and stew great video.
😆😆 We have to combine my onions with your fish 🐟 to dry up them tears 😢 😆😆
The soil is the main worry for me. 14 years ago when I moved into this house I removed a heck of a lot of soil as the previous owner decided raised gardens were in vogue. It was raised by about three feet and covered with heavy concrete slabs. Being in my mid 20’s I went at it with a shovel and cleared the lot in a few days. If I try that now I’d end up bedridden. My lower back is tingling just thinking about it. The only issue I have with a lot of sunken gardens is the concrete/stone seating areas. They don’t look too comfortable and you can’t really sit back and rest your head. I’d probably cover it with decking, I find wood adds some warmth and softness, as well as soft furnishings of course.
Hi Zizi, oh mind your back you only have one we all should listen to our body's a bit more but don't let that stop you if you have work to accomplish slow and steady... Your quite right Stone seating can be cold and not comfortable but as you say soft cushions or the right type of timber makes all the difference. I only use this patio some evenings to plan or the odd game of chess a space away from the house is I found a great place to relax sunken or raised peace is what's achieved.
Nyimak bosku 😘 salam santun dari pendatang baru ❤ semoga sehat dan makin sukses lagi kedepannya Amin 🤲 🤲
Thank you Rutri hope your plants are growing well also we belong to a great community 👍

I was getting hungry watching you in there but i have a packet of flat leaf parsley fresh Irish herbs in my pocket as you do and now I'm happily munching on my parsley. Great video.

👋, thanks for the great info! Does separation with the blade works also with quercus ilex?
HI thanks so much for the comment yes separation will work and will build up extra buds one cut will provide two extra buds
Thank you for this video. I have been looking for a pleached tree for my small garden but they are so expensive. In my local garden centre they are selling 2m height tree for a reasonable price and was thinking of using this method to create some privacy but not take to much space of the garden. I have 2 question 1 the middle post was that bamboo? And how thick was it I would assume the tree would need a lot of support due to the weight of the trellis. Also how do you find this type of training with the wind? Thanks in advance
Wow!! Been looking for months for a video on creating a hedge on stilts. Thank you so much!
Thanks Justin glad to be of some help good luck with your project
Good stuff
They're looking fantastic. Thanks so much. Brilliant video, great directions!
Thanks Deirde your welcome they are starting to yellow up now june July is the high point of health
Never new there was so much to know about trees. Your a genius
Lol I didn't realise myself 🐵🐵👍😅
3jlkr vur.fyi
Could I ask, did you need to use a frame to shape the trees?
Hi deirdre no frame I just planted them 32/34 inches apart and trimmed them front and sides once reached the desired height I topped them at that. Eventually the just knit together becoming full. I will make a video explaining the whole process this week and upload for your question maybe tomorrow 👍
A master class 👏 🙌 👌
Thanks Vincent 😊 turned out rather nice in person in the end👍
That is very neat work - first class!
First class I will take that thank you Bagby gardening service 😁😁 porcelain a bit tricky but worth the effort
