Seal in the Swell
A feeding fur seal trying to catch fish in a 12-15ft swell on the East Coast of Tasmania. Sunday 16th 2024.

The huge swell that hit the east coast of Tasmania on Sunday has faded down and cleaned up a lot. Some good waves were ridden here today.

The largest swell for quite a while hit the East Coast of Tasmania today. Starting at around 8ft in the morning it rose to 15ft possible larger sets in the evening. South wind and cold there were no surfers in the water around here. Maybe in some places along the coast.

It was large, no takers here yesterday, plenty out today after it got to 4ft. 15 plus yesterday but it is hard to tell.

Wow, that's great. I didn't surf it that day but just video'd it. Had some good waves though all around the area. Best was probably vaults.

He's skin and bone, doesn't look that old, either he's not getting any fish or has some kind of illness preventing him from eating. Poor guy. Should be about 500KG heavier than he looks.
