I am perfectly safe sitting in my livingroom watching this.. BUT I will tell you something..... MY PALMS ARE SWEATING and my heart is pounding just watching this🤣🤣😂
Climbing up that spire is wild bro. It's crazy that those little pegs are the only place to anchor your harness. Seems like they should at least have an L bend in them.
If I were him I will fucing shake my hand so bad and what I’m gonna do? I’m just gonna call fire department maybe, if it not work then im fucked or I can call the cops
Who else panicked when he was climbing the last bit holding onto those rods as protection f that job they need to make robots for this not for some factory work
I suppose because of the amount of time it takes from start to finish, you couldn’t climb but about two of these a day. How does this guy get paid - by the hour or by the climb? And how much does he get paid? If not enough, that’s for sure.
Generally, this happens during a routine inspection which could take a couple days. That's what's happening here. Special trips are made to the top only if something up there goes wrong and needs immediate attention. How he gets paid is anybody's guess, but I have known salaried towerhands that did exactly the kind of work this guy is doing. They got that salary because their hours were so irregular. They might work a day somewhere and then the next day drive 8 hours to another job, or work half a day and then the same day drive to another job for a 1am night climb, or they get to a job and it decides to pour for three days and they can't work at all, etc. It's just easier and more fair to pay them a fixed salary than try to work out an hourly wage that both parties are happy with, but on average the salary is comparable to what one would earn from a full week on an hourly rate, which is in the neighborhood of $35 @ 60 hours/week + however the particular company's per diem is paid out. Some (the good ones) pay a taxable but generous flat rate that allows you to live comfortably and eat well, as opposed to staying in fleabag motels and surviving on fast food and snack machines, while pocketing a healthy surplus as extra income since it's taxed as if it is. Good companies also tend to have profit sharing, killer benefits and paid life insurance. The last company I worked for I was there for 12 or 13 years and they would even buy my wife plane tickets to wherever I was working once or twice a year.
It appears are if the hooks can just slip off. Very flaky setup IMHO. I'm assuming they only climb on really quiet days (no wind), still there can be gusts.
not only the height would scare me sh*tless. it’s the sound of the wind, the sounds of the clips going onto the most ridiculously designed pegs on the orange part of the tower and the little metal creaking noises with each step up. in this video, when he’s standing still catching his breath and giving his body a moment to relax it just seems so quiet, like you’re entering another world almost. terrifying! if we need people to climb these towers for maintenance or just to make sure everything is good up there, perhaps a safer design should be put into place. those tiny little pegs would be a hell no from me and i’d climb my happy ass back down and quit my job. i imagine those safety clips would be rendered useless in the event he actually falls. props to this guy. (i’d honestly bring a parachute with me lmao)
“Oh sh!t” at 15:23 got me because as if this hole thing wasn’t an “oh sh!t moment.

Going All That Way Up Just To Forget The Lightbulb 💡
"How's the weather up there?" 😂
😢My God, how scary, who would get up there because it's so high?
Getting down looks like it would be so much harder. Also, those hooks look like they would slide right off the handles on the higher section.
parts of me tingle watching this and no
"not for honour but for you"
Gonna tell my children that's Goku climbing Korin tower.
Imagine going up the building with a parachute and skydiving that would be sick
