The M.A.T.S.U PROJECT - REVIVAL - A film by Tazuo Yamaguchi (IPaintCreatures)
This documentary was filmed from August 2023 to June 2024. It chronicles the M.A.T.S.U. Project, a California Arts Council-funded initiative managed by the Upstate Creative Corps (Nevada County Arts Council) and brought to Butte County by The Friends of The Arts. M.A.T.S.U. stands for Making Art Together Supporting Unity.
The project aimed to raise awareness in Butte County about the role of all art disciplines in public health and recovery from natural disasters, such as the 2018 Campfire in Paradise, California, and the COVID-19 pandemic. M.A.T.S.U. participants directly experienced the guidance of a professional artist, who provided scaffolding for self-expression through literacy, poetry, drawing, painting, sculpting, music creation, voice acting, animation, and filmmaking.
This film documents the inspiring and healing outcomes that arise from the intersection of public health and diverse artistic practices.

I love putting alcohol markers on canvas. Just have extra paper around you if 2 colors collide to rub off the color your not wanting at the time. Also you can easily fix a screw up even with black. Keep running over the part you messed up on with the color you want just keep rubbing your side paper to get unwanted off your marker. Its sometimes a orocess but sometimes its easy. Only thing cant finalize with colored pencils which i love doing but yes absolutely you can easily use markers on canvas
thanks for your comment you expanded on using alcohol markers as a medium on canvas - note to others you can do this but final painting will not be lightfast - i as ipaintcreatures i use specifically as under painting cuz markers are good to illustrate with for me - and yes you can erase - u can use alcohol to erase or just use paint like acrylics and oil to paint over _

Also note: Good thing i see this in the video as well since art does a lot more then what we think, definitely grateful to see this video with another perspective on how art can be useful, with public health and trauma. Every country in the world should have this be a standard in the school system and it will change everything.
I really appreciate how you brought in Matt who is a therapist and social worker with the County Office of Ed and the leaders from Axiom and Boys and Girls Club to elaborate on the impact on students. And especially traumatized students from our county.
