How does the First Printing Machine Work? (3D Animation)
How does the First Printing Machine Work? (3D Animation)
Summary:-
Johannes Gutenberg's mid-15th-century invention of the printing press transformed the production of written materials. Central to this innovation was the use of movable type, individual metal letters that could be rearranged and reused. Gutenberg's process involved setting the type in a composing stick, inking it with oil-based ink using inking balls, and pressing it onto paper using a modified wine press equipped with a platen, tympan, and frisket to hold the paper in place. This method enabled the efficient and uniform production of multiple copies of texts, significantly increasing the availability of books and other printed materials, thereby boosting literacy and contributing to major cultural and intellectual movements like the Renaissance and the Reformation.
