    The Della Fontana had the best minestrone that I have ever eaten, and I spent the rest of my life being disappointed with every other minestrone that I ever found. I worked there in 1978 and saw the huge kettle that he cooked this up in in the basement. It was so tall that I could not look inside while standing on the ground. People used to buy this soup by the gallon at the side door. Brought their own gallon clear jars to take it home in. Served with that French bread, it was a combination that couldn't be beat. I am looking forward to cooking this. I hope it turns out the same. Thanks for making the video.

      You certainly don’t have to. If you bake it the popcorn becomes crispy and less sticky. But if you don’t mind the sticky fingers just eat it after it’s coated. 😊

    I make cinnamon rolls from scratch all the time. If you mix your two sugars with the cinnamon before sprinkling on the dough everything will be evenly dispersed.

    Oh, I miss cranberries! I currently live in Trinidad, and dried cranberries are available here, but they are pricey. Maybe I’ll splurge and make this for Christmas 😁 🍞🎄

      What a bummer. I love fresh cranberries. I once sent the dried ones to my mother who was in Russia at the time. It cost me like $100 but I would do just about any thing for food.

    I just made these and they turned out very good! One tip that was new to me was using an ice cream scoop to form the balls. That seemed so simple but I have never done that before and it was a time saver! Well done Rachel!

This “trattoria” of Piazza Rosa has become the “birthplace of fettuccine all’Alfredo”. More specifically, as is well known to many people who love the “fettuccine all’Alfredo", this famous dish in the world was invented by Alfredo Di Lelio concerned about the lack of appetite of his wife Ines, who was pregnant with my father Armando (born February 26, 1908). Ma l’assenza dalla scena gastronomica di Alfredo Di Lelio fu del tutto transitoria. Infatti nel 1950 riprese il controllo della sua tradizione familiare ed aprì, insieme al figlio Armando, il ristorante “Il Vero Alfredo” (noto all’estero anche come “Alfredo di Roma”) in Piazza Augusto Imperatore n.30 (cfr. il sito web di Il Vero Alfredo). Con l’avvio del nuovo ristorante Alfredo Di Lelio ottenne un forte successo di pubblico e di clienti negli anni della “dolce vita”.
