I'm sorry the video's, like, an hour long. I still can't believe I managed to record 2 hours of improvised video and then edit it until 5 AM in the same day. Hope you find this informative (or at least as good background noise) I'm serious about it scratching my Cintiq, by the way. Don't put this thing on anything soft or valuable. A decidedly recent drawing, finished August 3rd 2023. Obviously Vivian is not one of my own characters but red hair is cute, and I've had the original artwork on my computer for years as a wallpaper. If you're not familiar, Vivian James was created by 4ch's /v/ as a collaboration with The Fine Young Capitalists during some internet video game drama some time ago (you can google it). Elden Ring is the most formulaic and soulless Fromsoft game to date
Nah, I hate Dark Souls games and enjoyed Elden Ring a lot. It had some sense of discovery I didn't have in a long time. This being said, I don't feel like ever playing it again or even the DLC. Been there, done that. And yes, the story is horrendous, but the game was okay fun. And Zelda looks too childisch for my taste, a total turn-off for me. PS: Had a giggle at the "people who use the internet to look up secrets have an eaasier time than people who don't", true Sherlock moment there mate.
I don't disagree on any points. I played it at launch, only day 1 patch. Now, I've got it installed on my PC, and I just think about all of the crap that's in the game and I lose the desire to start it up again. I'll end up playing the DLC, I know I will, but I'm doubtful that I'll have much fun. Peolle will say thay Artorias is peak boss design in DS1, but I consider him the protoform for the terrible bosses that came after. I've not even beaten all of the DS2 DLC, though I do enjoy the game. People will say how great it is, but honestly, with what i played, they're just annoying. And story... I'm not saying that I guarantee that I could do better, and I know that writing for different mediums have different expectations and standards. But I think Fromsoft has lost the script, they don't care because any and all story problems are defended by lorehounds who yell to just read the item descriptions and that X symbolizes Y. Bear no mind that someone else says X actually means Z, and anyone saying otherwise is wrong.
As a little addendum about Fromsoft's writing skills, pretty much every single entry in the Armored Core franchise has been written well if not good or great. There are questions and loose ends here and there but by and large the games have a clear chain of events involving the player or main character that tell a story. It does makes you wonder though...
My friend Wes (@BacklogBuster) has previously voiced his belief that the popularity of lore analysis, a la Vaati, encouraged From to just drop everything and make the story intentionally vague to fuel the fire. If From's other games are actually well written, it's more evidence for the case, given that they tried much harder for the DS1/Demon's, back when the community was smaller and the lore channels didn't exist, and that their other games don't have nearly the same kind of community push for the lore.
I Hated darksouls before it was cool
I loooove open world games where you get bored very quickly and just end up fast traveling to skip to traveling. In all seriousness, a lot of games can learn from Red Dead Redemption 2 to where the world is open, but you don't feel a need to fast travel. Yes it does take more time to get from point A to B, but there is so many activities, random events, and immersion aspects to the travel that it makes it not seem as long. Also I am convinced George R. R. Martin had like one idea total in the lore since it's yet another fallen kingdom with a lot of past history game from FromSoft. I don't want to call them a one trick pony, but they do it themselves for me. Edit: 10:25 Nice.
a lot of this is what I BEEN SCREAMING about souls games
Robert's game really IS a shame, huh?
More like Smell-den Ring am I right? Good Old Fromsoft stories. Mistake lore and backstory for actual story. Bloodborne you have a missable note that says "Seek Paleblood" then Gehrman tells you to use the doll. BRAVO MIYAZAKI. I beat Elden Ring. I assume the only reason my character wanted to be Elden Lord was so everyone would stop trying to kill me on sight.
So while I haven’t played Elden Ring. I am unsure how leveling in that game works as I know in sekiro you level through bosses and finding items. DS1 you level up at the bonfire. DS2 you level at Majula. Usually when I am doing boss runs on these fights I am not trying to level my char. I will kill the necessary enemies that are too hard to avoid. I also save up my pocket souls for when I need a bit more to get to the next level so I can use all of my souls efficiently. Does Elden Ring not have Pocket Souls?
There's a lot of items to pop for runes in Elden Ring, but there's also a couple of very efficient grinding locations, so there's very little incentive to fight the overworld enemies. Levelling in ER is identical to DS1/3, just do it at the bonfire.
When the autopsy report is outdated.
They're gonna have to file an autopsy report for me, I died when I saw that it wasn't a joke
im getting an s13 this month, im changing my confort settings to asd, space etc... learning process is so hard lmao
Hey wondering what keyboard switches youre using in this vid? Keychron k6 with what switches? They sound so good to me lol im used to a typewriter
they're Gateron brown
Nice video! I was also wondering how were you able to have your Rgb layout like that on your controller? Is that something that’s done through the program?
yes, you will have to enter the customization mode to do it. One thing that confused me is that even after setting the colours, you need to swap to that preset by pressing back+start+X or A
Hello, I am a vendor from hitbox and would like to discuss cooperation with you. Would you be able to provide me with your contact email?
for a small content creator vid quality is really good
Can I get Mechanical switches in the T16?
it came with Khail reds so I think that's a yes. you should be able to pull the keys out and put in other kinds, although I haven't tried it to see how hard it is
That temple of time OST though, brings back memories. Sadly i refuse to touch anything with Nexon's fingerprint on it. I'm still debating if i'm gonna buy a Haute T16 / M+ or a Mavercade Keepbrawler04. About your downside of the left hand finger dexterity; it's times like these i'm glad to be lefthanded, i don't have that issue ;) To balance it out i have a non-dominant hand operating the mouse , which is all things considered pretty accurate, but i can't make complex precise shapes. No writing in paint for me.
Liking the BA music 😭😭 Good review too!
based bgm😭
😭😭😭
The ring finger + middle finger problem is why I actually double them up and use them both to press down and use my pinky to press left. It's still not a very strong finger, so I also bind left to the right side button below the main 8 buttons so I have easier access to P2 DPs and the like.
im only 25 minutes in so i don't know the rest of the video yet but i can't tell if you dislike the T16 or just dislike leverless controllers
16:20 for half circles i like to turn my wrist hope this can help other people
I have never heard anyone whose favorite colors are orange and turquoise lol. Good review.
I love the T16. I first thought it was a waste of money, cause I'm used to play with the keyboard and at first felt limited button-wise. But man, if you get used to it, the T16 rocks. I can only speak for myself, but I definitly play better than with the keyboard (Tekken 8 atm). I dont know what exactly makes the difference, but everything feels smoother. Might be the good responsivness in combination with the bigger buttons (compared to the keyboard).
You can also work around the whole ring finger moving along with the middle finger by using your pinky instead as the "left" button. That's ofc psychopath behavior but possible work around.
How do i get this to work on my playstation? I plug it in put it in ps4 mode. But the playstation does nothing. Was i supposed to do something else fist?
As far as I know, for a PS4 it should just work with the right startup mode. For PS5 you'll need an adapter like a Brook Wingman. I play on PC, so I can't say with 100% certainty what works and what doesn't.
@@medicami nooo so that means something is wrong
Man I figured it out. One of the kids had the white wire that came with it
the controller has a keyboard mode btw! It uses an open source chip thingy called the gp2040ce, and it comes with a feature where you can switch between x-input mode, keyboard mode, d-input mode, ps4 compat mode, ps5 and an passthrough mode. If you have an appropriate dongle, you can do use passthrough mode to play ps5 games on the ps5. There is also a mode that makes the buttons simulate the analog stick instead of the dpad (if you feel like doing that). source: I have another haute42 pad :) Also I subscribed bc I wanna see more of your art :D
I didn't watch the whole video, but I do have a few general notes and tips in response to the bits I saw. I have the T16 and a standard FightBox, but I'm newer to leverless whereas I've spent years on arcade sticks. Your issue with the "double presses" aren't unique to leverless, and actually if you just drop down your index finger onto the bottom row for those inputs, it will be way easier and natural. I only play SF6 though, which only really requires double presses on the first two columns (grab and Parry), so I can't speak on double presses on the third or fourth columns. Now here's a tip on left hand dexterity that I haven't really seen anyone bring up. QCB and HCB motions (1P side) are harder as you mentioned because of our hand muscles. To work around this, instead of your traditional "pressing" motion where it's like an individual finger tap, curl your fingers and keep them stiff, then "roll" your hand to the left. Imagine using your left hand to turn a door knob counter-clockwise - not to the same degree but it's a similar rolling/rotating motion. Use that motion plus your stiff fingers to generate the button presses. For QCB and Left-down-left DP inputs, you can alternatively just shift your index finger to the down button, but I have found it can sometimes be too slow and it's a bit hard to be aware of this while moving back and forth. I mostly use it during combos where I have time to prepare. The last tip I have is pretty unique, and it's about DOUBLE QCB (1P side), like for Supers in SF6. If you have time and are comfortable, you can shift your index finger to the down button like I said before. On one with extra buttons like the T16 however, you have another option. I actually ended up mapping the bottom left thumb button to a second Down input for this specific scenario. I do the first QCB using my middle finger > ring finger (which is standard position), then I press the bottom left thumb button > ring finger for the second QCB input. Now I don't compete, so I have no clue if this layout is tournament legal, but it may help some casual players out.
I Have one. but I still play on keyboard; imo it really is the best leverless option. I have to have numpad for fighting games though
dude how the hell plays fighters with the analog stick ? we all use the d-pad . GOD THE HORROR .
Slash is the best Guilty Gear Strive May player by far, and easily among the top 20 or 30 Strive players in the world. He exclusively plays with a regular PS4 / PS5 controller and only uses the left joystick for movement. It’s all about personal preference. I don’t know how he does it, but there’s a control scheme for everyone.
Nuckledu a pro streetfighter player also plays with the analog. Whatever works
killer in depth review, absolute king for this
Thanks for the review. I'm getting this leverless delivered next week. I tend to hit 421S a lot in GG+R so I'm hoping it will be easier to do with large leverless buttons, since I have big hands. Btw I heard the best way to prevent carpal tunnel on keyboard and leverless is to play with the controller in your lap and float the wrists without resting the palms down at all, with the fingertips lightly resting on the buttons for support (pianist style). So I tried it with my keyboard for a month and I don't get wrist pain at all, it seems to work. I play up to 3 hours at a time and do take breaks and stop when I feel my forearms get a bit tense. I also stretch my fingers before and after.
You may want to try the haute mini or b16 for a keyboard like
I did consider it. I already spent a lot on the T16 and I have a keyboard which I already use to play. The big reason I wanted the T16 was just for more space to put art on it lol.
@@medicami ahah indeed the T is godlike for artwork , I got a G16 and M16 and previously a mini but it was too mini in the end
Shouldn’t it have included rubber pads for the bottom in the box?
I just noticed this earlier today when I was tidying up, there *is* in fact a small sheet of 8 round non-slip padding included with the key remover, along with one spare red keyswitch and a red nib for a system button. To be honest, I thought it was just cardboard for keeping the bag from folding.
i think you mean dark souls 1 and 3 have big black dragons, this is because dark souls 3 is a bit of a kneejerk reaction to ds2 being "too different" from ds1 and so they turned ds3 into a bloodbtone themed ds1 remake for the most part. this is evident with how many new ideas and mechanics where removed from ds3 late in development (e.g. the world states, bonfire movement and epitaphs) and is likely why elden ring isn't called "dark souls 4" now that my ds1 ds3 rant is over this is a nice video, i agree with most your stuff about the bosses and the stuff i dont agree with like bloodstains and corpse runs and bloodstains are well enough argued that i can understand the perspective, great vid!
Somehow I ended up on Canadian amazon and was wondering why the hell I couldn't ship anything to me.
You know this is a real gamer review when WASD is worn off the keyboard and all the other buttons look relatively fine.
so true, but on the other hand I can't stress this enough, getting a good keyboard/keycaps is a game changer
I really hate how FromSoft gets big dragon fights wrong in the same formulaic way in every game. There's very little ranged attacks you have at your disposal that even reach them (let alone does meaningful damage) when they do the whole 'fire on the ground' move. Many hours wasted from trying to beat Ancient Dragon in DS2.
This is a snappy video.
DEFAULT VIDEO ESSAY YAY! Midir is legit awful, to the point I had to respec to make the Washing Pole viable to max out damage on his head. It's insane, because these are the same devs that made Kalameet. Not a perfect boss, but so much better. I swear, they spent all their time making his purple Godzilla's lasers look good, rather than designing a good fight.
damn, becoming serious youtube man over here.
I had these finished but not uploaded because I wasn't sure If I liked them. Since I had a week break I worked on another video for tomorrow and published these last two.
Big stick
I have never actually played a monster hunter, is it fun?
It can be a little difficult to get into at first since it's not like most other action games, it's hard to describe but its more about predictions rather than reactions. It can be a lot of fun though, I would recommend trying Monster Hunter World over Rise, or just wait for the next game to come out.
