A comprehensive overview (both parts 1 & 2) that closed the deal for me. BTW, I have a ProjectMIX I/O collecting dust from very many years ago. It was a nice console with fader automation and stuff, but it was practically abandoned not long after its debut. So this particular niche of functionality doesn't come without reservations. Nonetheless, knowing your commitment to serious gear, I'm confident the very affordable Icon is worth the investment. Sweetwater is my primary supplier, but looking to B&H given availability. Also I'm thinking of buying the channel strip. sounds good and brings back memories when I was first learning and it would be great to use it and only it as a challenge from time to time to limit myself to what I can use to keep it basic to get a great mix. Go back to the fundamentals

Hy Dave really enjoy your videos. Question. I recently purchased the UC1 and are having some issues with "it" syncing with my DAW (Digital Performer). I on a Mac Mini M2 Pro using OS 14.4 Sonoma. The issue is the 360 plugin mixer does not sync up tracks with my Daw. In other words where my DAW goes 1-x, the plugin mixer just uses arbitrary numbers.Track on my DAW will be Track 1 where the plugin mixer says 13, or some other numbers right down the line, none of which line up with my DAW. The other issue is on the Bus compressor, all knobs work except for the attack, release, and ratio. These 3 have a very fast vibration movement to them when turning, and you cannot lock down a setting. Finally the channel selector on the hardare unit (in the control section) does not scroll with the racks. Turning ithe selector to run thru the channels it always returns back to track one. I have been working with support both with Sweetwater and SSL, and thus far we have not been able to determine the cause of thse issues and we have been through 2 units. I was wondering if you have heard, or come across anything similiar. Thanks!!!

I've been using LUNA (at some level) since '20. It's all I use now. I really love it, however, if you want to do some level of hybrid mixing it's not a viable choice. I'm still ITB but want to use some hardware pieces I own moving forward for mixing. I hope they add the functionality to support this as an option at some point, but it seems they don't care. I'm seriously considering Reaper.

Gotta go with Antelope. For my ears the UAD sounds subdued, almost muffled. I like the clarity from Antelope. IMHO

Does it support Mac Studio M2 Ultra?

Some years ago I liked channel strips but when I got more serious about mixing I never used them again. The difference between a factory sealed carbonized pancake or a fresh baked, some people just want the convenience.

Harrison 32C sounds excellent on Drums. It sounds better than SSL 4KE. I can get a punchy Kick drum & snare drum.

You should try their DAW Mixbus 32c It sounds awesome! Amazing features and their classic sound right out of the box.

I love the Harrison 32C from UAD….this one seems to have much more…..I still love the EQ version from UA especially on the lower end sounds…..it makes the track sound like it’s in molten chocolate on the bottom end and very crisp top end

Hey Dave. I have 2 UF8s and use Logic Pro. I always use 360 mode rather than DAW mode. Is there a way to set it up so that the left UF8 only has the channels on it and the right UF8 only has the track stacks (ie. busses) on there?

I picked this up recently for a few tens of dollars on a flash sale and am looking fwd to using it soon. I only track vocals and guitars and maybe a percussion track but I’m really wanting to get away from instrument-focused channel strips and into general ones that can be used on anything and let you learn how to actually use things like eq, comps and so on…

I use the Slate VSX headphones. This plugin seems cool, but probably overkill at this point

I have the Neumann mic, two years later I got the kaotica eyeball and was blew away by the sound; so I just ordered the mt48 and super excited to finally get my hands on it 😭 I’m bout to get the Neumann closed backs and a few more plugins and I might wanna release music finally. Been recording myself for 3 years and put a lot of time and effort into music. I fell in love with the process and have fun with it. I started to get rich and famous but now idgaf and I just wanna put out good art. Took on the journey to buy a $1,000 dollar mic off the rip and just start learning how to use FL, network with ppl and learn how to have better business skills. Haven’t made a dime from music and spent thousands but I love it. Forced me to get an oilfield job and sleep in my car for two months just to get closer to a better future and to support my hobby (music). Really paid off but when I moved from VA to Texas I didn’t get a place so I was often going to the studio and stopped investing in music equipment. Learned that u gotta shop for engineers and found one who uses the same daw (shoutout FL) and connected with other creators. Don’t settle for an engineer til they bring ur inspiration to life. U can find one just keep paying for new mixes every song. Unfortunately I got hurt in the oilfield and on workers comp but I had enough to buy interface and can buy other equipment and release music the right way cause I really developed myself more than just an artist but as a person. I took a risk, took a job that would put in a better position financially, physically, and mentally and even tho I got severely hurt I’m still here and somehow my dream came back to comfort me while I’m still recovering. Don’t wanna be famous or rich I just wanna work and release my music from afar kinda like Shiloh dynasty. Thanks for the read if u did

the ssl sounds better when running at 192 khz. when using hq it will atleast double it to 384 khz. enough to remove all digital artifacts. probably even up to 768 khz if its doing 4x. if your computer can handle it the ssl wins.

I have tried really hard with ableton over the years, but the buy in price for these daws are insane, KUDOS to UAD for releasing LUNA with unlimited track count and MCU for free.
