SATISFYING Restoration of Neglected Mid-century dresser!
These look beautiful, great job on the restoration 🤩👏😍
I’m very impressed with this restoration. The brass hardware is beautiful.
I see in the video that you use a Bahco scrapers. Are these scrapers sharp for a long time? I ask because this scraper cannot be sharpened because its blade is made of sintered carbide. Is it worth buying? Please tell me how you rate it, whether you have been using it for a long time and is it still sharp. You renovated the cabinet beautifully, it looks fantastic, congratulations on the successful renovation.👍
I’m so in love with those handles and they cleaned up so beautifully! Beautiful job altogether.
I agree, the handles really add that bit of pizazz to the piece! 😊
Have I been pronouncing Delcraft incorrectly? (Dell craft). I do not clean my pieces until stripping and sanding are done either. I loved the little veneer shutters you made with tape 😂 Ive not been well the past year, so I haven't been able to work on anything.. Watching you is killing me, lol. I miss it. Just got some new meds, so maybe I can start slowly. Great job ❤
@@mcm.walnuter3479 Ha! It could be pronounced differently! All I know for sure is that it comes from the first 4 initials of Dominion Electrohome industries Ltd! It’s always bitter sweet watching videos on something you enjoy doing but can’t! Hopefully things will work out and you can start again. 🤞Thanks for tuning in. 😊
I love the cat ears on this hutch! Lovely job
Ha! Good description! 🤣
Youre detail work and appreciation for all things MCM is commendable!! I love mahogany!! This pair is quite the find and i'm sure now worth a pretty penny. Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for your kind words! Mahogany is always a bit of a challenge. But I am happy with the results! Thanks for watching! 😊
I love these. They came out great!
Thanks so much! 😁
What does a sanding sealer do?
Sanding sealer does a few things. It gives a great base coat for repairs so the touch up colours don’t penetrate too much. Also you can tint your sanding sealer and use it as a toner to change colour of wood. Also it helps seal the wood so no contamination (if there is any) transfers to top coat (lacquer in this case). Hope that helps! 😊 Thanks for tuning in.
Beautiful job!😃
Thank you! 😊
Nice looking cabinets! Great job!
Excellent redo!
Thanks 🥰
So one piece had drawers and the other didn't? Anyway, they look beautiful now. Nice that you didn't paint the hardware--great job!
That’s right. One had only a shelf and one had two drawers. Unusual but useful! 🙂
Beautiful ❤
Thank you! 😊
Very nice! You did a fantastic job on them.
Thank you! Cheers! 😄
Excellent job. Mahogany is not an easy wood to get right color wise, but i must say you did it. Even when new, the furniture companies had to spray toner on mahogany to even if out, because it could be so red and blotchy. I also like the unpainted pulls, they show some age and originality to the cabinet. Well done imo.
Thanks. I often struggle with mahogany...walnut is much more forgiving! ☺️
I love these pieces. You did an amazing job on them.❤
Thank you so much! 😃
New subscriber. I've only done a few MCM pieces, but those smooth flat veneers are always stunning when finished. Loved how you did the Mohawk powders mixed with sanding sealer for touch ups.
Thanks for subscribing! I am new to using the powders so I have a long way to go to get the perfect blend of colours!
Gorgeous!! Well done🙌
Much appreciated! ☺️
Great Video! Your Close-up Camera Work is Amazing! Things like that Small bit Veneer You fixed or Working Around the Latch, There was Nothing Rushed and You Gave a Nice Step by Step Approach. They Really Are Beautiful! Your Color choices are the Best!
Thanks so much. I am still working out all the kinks of refinishing and filming at the same time! It’s more challenging than I originally thought! 😂
Very pretty ❤
Thank you! 😊
Those turned out really well! I love that you didn't spray the hardware. Very nice work!
Glad you liked it! 😊
A pair is rare. Very nice someone needs these!
Thanks! I didn’t even know these types of cabinets existed!😮
Your attention to detail is AWESOME! When you used the putty knife to clear out the stain that collected in the seams I did a big "WOOP WOOP! THAT'S MY GIRL!!!!" Lovely work as usual! Thanks! 😊
😂 Thanks! Sometimes when I watch my videos and I realize I missed doing some little thing, it drives me crazy!
Do you usually prefer scraping over a stripper?
I will always scrap before stripping because of the noxious fumes from stripping! And it cost more 🤑

On the whole a meticulous and beautiful transformation, the only thing that let it down was the staples on the back panel, small tacks would be a better aesthetic 🙂❤
@@cazdough6565 Ha! You are the third person to mention the staples! I am going to paint them black so they will be less noticeable! 😅
Oh my goodness what a gorgeous transformation! The one you finished is absolutely beautiful! 😊❤
@@pamsheets632 thanks. I just stripped the paint off the second one. And luckily the walnut veneer seems to be in good shape as well! 🤞
Excellent work

Felicitation madame vous avez fait un travail exceptionnel jaime beaucoup le résultat final c'est magnifique 👍👍👍♥️🤗⭐⭐
Thanks for tuning in and watching my video! 😉
I have to admit - I pull apart vanities to create narrow nightstands. I save the wood where I can and paint the rest. These sell very well for me. And it keeps unloved vanities out of the trash.
@@pfles1 I agree. The vanities “as is” don’t sell very well. But everyone wants nightstands. ☺️
I thought I read/heard somewhere that QCS works best on older finishes rather than paint or newer finishes. Not sure. 🤷♀️
I haven’t had much luck with either. Going to give it another try on a project coming up. 🤞 I am determined to get it to work on at least one of my pieces. 🙏
Beautiful table, great color choice.
Thanks. 😊
Glad you saved them. Well done
@@denisesmith6359 Thanks so much! ☺️
One word AMAZING, AMAZING 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks. Nothing beats a “What’s under the paint” reveal! 🤣
So classic and gorgeous! The black and wood tones together. I refinished an old sideboard 50 years ago in a similar way. My daughter has it in her home now and loves it.
I might have gone over the staples in the back with black paint to blend them in, but nice save. Lovely waterfall veneer...
Ha! You are the 2nd person to mention that! I did think about it when I was taking the pics, but I was just rushing to get the CZcams video done and didn’t want to take the time to stop and paint them! Luckily I haven’t finished the second one yet so I still have time to do it. 😂
Lovely jazzy background music!
@@ratanashifu thanks! 😊
What do you use to apply the dark oil? I've seen many methods, but I'm always looking to learn.
I apply the Odie’s oil with Mirka Mirlon grey pad. It works without scratching the surface. Hope that helps! 😊
Love how these turned out
Thanks....and thanks for tuning in! 😁
Really beautiful! ❤ Too bad we can't get that 1850 stripper down here in the States. I recently heard a really interesting tip on one of the refinishing channels (please excuse me if it was you! 😮) ... Once you spread stripper on a surface, don't continue to spread or dab it. Stripper quickly forms a vapor barrier on it's surface while it does it's best work. Dabbing or re-brushing the stripper breaks that critical vapor barrier and drastically reduces the effectiveness. Huh. Seems like I learn something new every day.
Thanks for the tip, never heard that one before! 😊
Too bad it was necessary to paint the sides as the walnut veneer you uncovered is stunning. These pieces have a nice moody vibe now.
If the sides hadn't been so badly damaged I would have left them unpainted! Thanks for tuning in!😀
Well done!
@@mararundell2500 thanks!😊
Am I the only weirdo that LOVES to see the paint bubbling up with a good stripper? Beautiful work. I knew the hardware was going to be gorgeous once the paint was removed!
Then I must be a weirdo too! Nothing like a good time-lapse of bubbling paint! 🤣 Thanks for tuning in!
