This is from one of my favorite places in the world. So remote that when I first visited in 2010, there was no running water or electricity. In four short years they have dug wells, and have a few generators. There is even one public building where they occasionally have internet access. Occasionally. It will be interesting to see how things develop over the coming years.

They've dismantled our bombs and cleaned up the poisons from the earth's atmosphere that evil man has released. Their work is NEVER done. But there will soon come a day when they will arrive in record numbers for a final showdown. Evil MUST be dealt with. Oddly enough, foolish man will try and battle with them........to no avail. Order WILL be restored.
Hi Jane, Can you tell me what size thread and needle is recommended for stringing pearls?
Although it is appreciated of the intention, the word “DEMONSTRATION”, perhaps, should be removed. Why?? Look up the dictionary and it will explain “WHY”.

Everyone learns first day, including a woman with Parkinson's, a 3 year old, a woman who was told she is unteachable (no one who wants to learn is unteachable), a woman with only one arm, and a man with unimaginably fat fingers. Thank you for sharing this technique. I have Multiple Sclerosis and there are so many days when my hands tremor or do not want to cooperate with my mind. The body likes it's fighting over which area is going to have an implosion.... so from the bottom of my heart, Thank you

I taught another woman with MS on a ship. her biggest challenge was her husband constantly telling her and telling me that she could not do it. She did great! My apologies that you dislike it. It was actually intended only for a demonstration which played on ship TV. it was posted as reminder for the people who took the class. I am astonished at how many people have contacted me, thanking me, and who learned from this. Again, sorry you didn't have that experience. Is there something I can do to help?

Hi Jane I have watched a few of your videos. I wish you would do one that is not a record of a cruise ship class, but is strictly for youtube, with proper lighting, which you never seem to have on those boats - and nothing but closeups of your hands doing the technique. I would rather skip over waiting through all the boring ship cruise talk before you get down to it, then only getting brief glimpses of what you are doing . Then I watch another of your videos and it is the same pitch on a different day. Thanks for your post on my page. for some reason, it didn't make it to the public,yet. Would you like me to OK it? Your technique is messy looking, IMO, but fun if you are clumsy.Your technique is unique, but I can't get the knots to look right when I use it- the tension is off. You are creative, but this technique is for playing with beads , not professional-looking pearls. I would use it for kids and cruise ships. My video shows only the traditional no tools knotting technique; it is not a creative approach in the slightest and does not contradict your technique, which is also useful for fun. PS. I have never introduced my self except as Caitlin over here on CZcams. That is an oversight. I am Caitlin Williams of Pearl-Guide.com. We like you over there, but we also have about 5 or 6 different knotting and stringing methods for pearls including, Japanese, Henrietta's, and also with a tool, for those who just want that awl or needle. Maybe you could join Pearl.Guide.com and clarify your technique, so it can stand with the others.

So from what I can see it's just a matter of doubling your thread to achieve this result. Wouldn't one need to be especially mindful with thread size and pearl holes?
The teaching technique is not very good, frankly. The gems are not sold by weight, on ebay they are sold as 15" strings, however many beads that length would accommodate. Stringing pearls is never too hard and I would leave it to artisans throughout Asia who do it and then the whole piece of jewelry is sold between $4.50 and $12.00. I know because I bought a ton of them on ebay and still have a lot for future gifts and decorating clothing- at those prices who can't afford them? Your online jewelry is unjustifiably expensive too.
HI Maria, My apologies that I somehow missed your comment here from a year ago. Regarding prices, it is very difficult to compare pearl prices without understanding quality and what causes the different prices. Would you compare Mikimoto to eBay? Like wine, cars, handbags, etc. you can buy for very low to very high prices. There are reasons for the price differences, and great choices in all prices.

I thought this instructional video is great. I just started beading and I'm wondering how this will look with simple glass beads. Is knotting between pearls exclusively a technique for pearls? I'm a beginner.
I knotted a pearl necklace for myself according to your instructions & it came out so professionally done! I'm so happy I found your video. I've had trouble with the traditional way. Now I'm going to re-string an old pearl necklace using your technique! It is really easy! I'm sure it'll look fabulous! Thank you Jane!

what is a good rule of thumb for the proportion of length of thread to ultimate length of the piece? (I'm looking to make a 108 bead mala from 6mm beads...)
HI Sarah - - Did I ever get back to you on this? I just notice all these unanswered comments. The rule for measuring thread is about 5-6x the length of the strand. It gets doubled, goes all the way through the strand, then goes back through again getting knotted. One couple worked together for combining 5 strands into one necklace. But, you made knotting so accessible, and the whole process so tangible. I am pleased and amazed! I've strung 3 double, and 1 triple pearl bracelet since your instructions.

The question about 'finer thread' is relative- and I don't know what thread you are currently using. So let me answer this way: Using SILK thread, size C works for most pearls and stones. Gemstone beads are sold by weight, so the holes are drilled very small. Size B works better for those. And of course, if you have large pearls, want a larger knot either for appearance, to get more length from your pearls, or because the holes are drilled too large, use the biggest size which works. If you don't have large enough thread you can do a surgeons knot (loop the thread through 2-3 times) but the regular knots look better. One more thing- high tech wire sometimes works better with stone beads as they have sharp edges and cut the thread- but then you can't do the knots, which you correctly point out, makes the whole necklace look more elegant. What makes you think I am not knotting between pearls? The whole point of this is that the KNOTTING technique is so easy that I have even been able to teach a 3 year old, and a woman with only one arm. I appreciate constructive criticism- if you actually watch the demonstration ALL THE WAY THROUGH and still don't understand, I will be more than happy to help. Hi Jane...I'm working to string some pearls and have had a few setbacks. First, it turns out the pearls (not real), have too small hole for Size c silk. Easy problem to solve! However...getting the correct length of silk is more challenging! I cut the silk three times longer and that's too short! I wonder...is there even an "artistic formula' you use - knowing that you are more organic in your approach; I hesitate even to ask!

I see it above my home after 10:15pm..it was stabilized for a minute..thought it was a bright star but it sparkled ..then it slowly moved..above the BQE expressway.. Not of this realm.. Not a man made object.my first sighting. This was in Williamsburg.Brooklyn
