How I prepare my Spark Table for a Dyno Session
zhlédnutí 1,1KPřed 4 lety
To prepare my car for Dyno time, I want to take my time and get my spark table as good as I can before I go. I wanted to take a moment to show how I use datalogs to go through and confirm my progress as I look at the RPM per second as a benchmark to push my timing up as I go along. Please keep in mind this is just a tool you can use. As you push timing on any car that has a standalone ECU, you ...

Map Based Acceleration Enrichment (Part 2 of 2) Datalog Adjustments

Part 2, using the feedback from datalogs to make adjustments to the settings. This is how I have set up Acceleration Enrichment for my cars in the past. With the new release, I felt it time to switch over to MAP based AE on my 280z running Speeduino. Please keep in mind, you only want to set up AE after you have a fully tuned VE table. Do not worry about AE until your table is in a good shape.

look great, did you use factory computer or after market?
Such a trip... The smiths you stopped at is right outside my neighborhood! I'm rebuilding a 620 right now. Hope to see you guys' cruising at some point.
So I have a 4 cylinder turbo engine, (SR20DET), I heard you say that MAP based AE was better for turbo engines, I currently have it setup with Time Based AE, what advantages would there be in switching and setting up Map based AE?
I had a Fairlane Club Sedan like that when I was 14. A great car. Had the T bird engine.
Contrary to what a lot of people think, the Thunderbird V8 engine was not an engine meant to be for a Thunderbird car only. Just like Mercury's Marauder engine that was available on Mercurys in years when they didn't even have a Marauder model car, the Thunderbird engine is an engine meant for most Ford models. The three on the tree transmissions were as commonplace as automatic transmissions are today. Until my dad in 1963 bought his first car with an automatic transmission, which was about the time the neighbors got automatic transmissions, I never saw anything but a three on the tree manual transmission. My first car was a 3 speed transmission with a column mounted gearshift, a 63 Falcon Convertible. The three on the tree was available into the late 70s or early 80, on cars with bench seats, but became more and more rare as automatic transmissions and sports cars with bucket seats and consoles became more popular. Nowadays, manual transmissions are rare and will probably be extinct in the very near future. That is too bad because manual transmission cars are fun to drive. I would love to drive a 56 Ford like yours, but I would get rid of the nerdy fuzzy dice. Those things were not as common a fad as the Hollywood entertainment media would have you believe. Nice car and video.
Why are u afraid to drive ? I drive mine all the time ?❤❤
Wow I knew that sound that is the sweetest one L20s family boy you made my day Zcar my passion 😅 nice job 👍🏽
Why not put front disc brakes on? Save your transmission.
Realmente no habia entendido como funcionaba el control por pwm con mi speeduino hasta que vi tu video, muchas gracias! Saludos desde Argentina

Ok car I'd give a quarter for it ( ok , OK Id consider giving You a half dollar , if You twisted My arm ) !? LOL just kidding ! I had a solid black '55 back in the day . Your car looks great ( I never did get a car with a o/d transmission )
Fairlane didn’t come out until 1957
Just needs a turbo lol
Even this video 4 years ago, it is still true value for my learning knowledge. Thank good video
I need the drivers for the Manhattan RS232 USB connection. Do you have the drivers?
This is old but ign per step should be like 16.
Don't down shift to slow down. Brakes are cheaper than transmissions.
Hi just watched your video and noticed that you have solved one of my problems, Camposition. Please can you show how you converted the Distributor, please.
Mean ford I'm in New Zealand and we grew up in cars like yorz my brother had mainelines which are utes frm ozze AK Australia rare in our land keep looking after that one as its lovely ❤😂
If a camshaft position sensor and wheel is used, is a crankshaft position sensor even needed ?
I have a 55 with a 406 and 4 spd in it . I put the power disc brakes kit on it . Best money spent ! Then electric wiper kit . Now I'm putting power steering and ac kits in it . I love the car and owned it for 26 years .
What did that 406 come out of , is it the three two barrels, or two four barrels version ?
@johnhoward7298 3 two's . Came out of a galaxy. Found it in a private junk yard . Timing chain , valve seals and carb kits .
@@ronaldolweiler7745 Do You know that Ford made two versions of the 406 ? ( different is push rod length & intake ) I don't remember which one was first .. short push rods or the long push rods ... and I don't know why .
What a great old Ford, classy. Thanks for sharing.
This is a great car, thanks for taking care of it.
Much thanks for that, I'm tuning my miata, and I couldn't find that option in speeduino's version of tuner studio
guys what is the car and pc connected with any tuner or just obd2 cable to usb

I'm trying to figure virtual Dyno
My Dad had a brand new 1956 Ford Fairlane but with an Automatic transmission and the Police Interceptor engine. Great Car. Family Vacations began on Saturday about 2 AM so that we could cross the Desert in the cool of the night and morning as we drove from Garden Grove California to Payson/Benjamin Utah. The open windwing was our source of fresh air. Dad, Mom, and my little brother in the front seat, me, my younger and older sister and older bother in the back. Quite often we would lay just below the rear window and enjoy the starry nights and cloudy day.... Love this video.
My next vehicle will be a body on frame
I wish they would discontinue the unibody.. They are cheap and designed to crack Like an egg and crumple like an aluminum can. My next vehicle will be a twenty five hundred chevy silverado or beggar with a solid steel front and rear bumper And the truck will be lifted. I'm tired of bumping another car and it totally mine out. Or getting my car totaled by someone Hitting me
I used to have a 55 two door. Mine had several changes, including disc brakes from a Granada, and a 1 1/8 inch sway bar from Thunderbirds Southwest. My car was driven all over the western half of the US. The better brakes helped a lot. Your car is a fantastic example of a great car. Mine had the same wheels, but mine were not polished.
I love the Z.... Would love to own one but, they're so damn rare, now...
Ford apparently loved the dash for 1956, and possibly the owners too. Ford put that dash almost exactly as it was in the newly restyled 1957 Thunderbird.
13:00 I did the same with my hondas, I cut two teeth off the 24 tooth distributor wheel to get 12-1 to run wasted spark, as MS1 extra was unable to decode a single missing toothed wheel at cam speed, worked very well when I changed the VR sensor for a magnetic hall type... I believe you can run a cam speed single missing tooth wheel on an MS2 extra though...
VR sensors are awful unless you have a circuit tuned for your specific application. They don't really belong on cars, they are only useful on jet engines...etc with very advanced controls and extreme conditions, nothing beats a solid 0V/5V signal going directly to your MCU. Had loads of success with MS1 extra 20 odd years ago, can't wait to get started with speeduino. So far I just have a breadboard based simulator using ardustim because my new car it way to expensive to mess with😅
I got a 56 that used to have a 292. Still has the badges and rear bumper. It has a 72 FE 360 motor in it with a 3.03. Its a rat rod.
Love it. Thinkin the same for TT. Cheers
Learned to drive on a 56 Ford. Since then Ive had a few and now looking for another one. Preferably a tudor sedan Customline but would think about a Fairlane. Great car.
What would keep me from raving pass 4200 with the gold box megasquirt
Did you feel the need to adjust the Lambda Delay tables? Some suggest it may need it, depending on how far away the O2 sensor is from the exhaust ports. Thoughts?
Does that auto tune feature actually make live changes to the VE table as your driving around, or does it just makes changes that you then have to upload/burn to the ECU afterwards?
It makes live changes to the VE table.
In regard to the seat being part of the suspension I have a '68 Ford F-250 with a restored bench seat and new shocks but I wonder if they used the right seat cushion material because it definitely launches me and I (not the truck) bounce up and down several times whenever I hit a bump. Feels like I'm sitting on a spring with no shock absorber to damp the reaction and sometimes if I didn't have a good grip on the steering wheel I would become airborne.
My brother in-law has a 79 250 flatbed - I feel the same way when I ride in that thing.
I dropped a 390 cubic inch V8 and 4-speed manual trans into my '56 Vic (back in 1967 when I was 19). It was a hotrod. Fast. Loved the styling. Thanks for sharing. Your Fairlane is beautiful ride. Nice restoration work. Safe travels.
Thank you
Your story is almost the same as mine, 390 with shelby running gears it was metal flake purple chrome wheels! In 1971 still in high school.
I would have angle/ radius the top of the gate fingers so it would slide in a bit easier. eg: Gallardo & Murcielago gated shifter.
That was my first car too mine was pink and white 292 Cid loved that car but my dad blew up the engine I was 16 and couldn't afford to fix it so I watched it go away on a suck up truck and cried seeing it go away
Hey what's up can you send me your email? Thanks in advance
You sir get a like in like the first 5 mins for being so competent and helpful
Just watched it again. Still love it!
just upgraded my injectors to the gtr 440cc. didn't change the squirts or staging only required fuel settings. after maxing out the high load ve cells to the max number of 255 i did a few runs to get a log. iv noticed that my duty cycle is only at 45% and starting to lean bad but my ve is maxxed out at 255 so i cant add more fuel. I tried numerous injector deadtime/correction settings and couldn't work it out, so as a last ditched effort i turned the required fuel up almost doubling the previous number. Now im at 60% duty at 5psi 11.6 afr. Iv read not to change calculated fuel numbers but i dont know what else to do 🤷♂
Just out of curiosity did this lead to any issues? Running into same issues , 815cc injectors and only running 16% duty cycle
