What is MARPOL? Basic Things You Need to Know
Today we're talking about a really important topic - MARPOL. What is it and why is it crucial for protecting our marine environment? MARPOL stands for the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships.
In this video, I'll explain how this convention came about, why it was needed, and what problems it addresses. You'll learn about the six main annexes of MARPOL, which deal with different types of pollution: oil, noxious liquids, harmful substances, sewage, garbage, and air pollution.
We'll discuss the history and evolution of MARPOL, key rules and regulations, and real pollution incidents that led to stricter measures. I'll also talk about how ships get certified and inspected to comply with the rules.
I hope this video helps you better understand what MARPOL is and how it works. Let's take care of our ocean together and make the maritime industry cleaner and safer.

Smaller rafts should have a hydro release with a weaker link.
First part of video about liferaft contain info about hru, weak link, painter etc.
Wow this is well equipped with practical equipment. My only issue is the lack of velcro storage bags. In case of capsizing because of strong waves. Also the ballists should be filled with those compact towels, or space towels, or even compacted sponges, so they actually absorb the water quickly and fully, im curious if they actually fill with water to its maximum and not just half fill as it is.
The LSA Code actually requires that these systems are designed so the pockets fill with at least 60% water within 25 seconds of being deployed. So, the current standards already focus on making sure the tanks fill up efficiently and fast. Ballast pockets do improve the raft's stability. How effective would they be in a heavy rough stormy sea? It's anyone's guess. That's not something I'd want to experience firsthand :)
No high powered laser pointer?
Nope
hi sir i have question could your give file template report drill sir
Your video is very good and explain clearly .Can you explain about the fire detection system?
Tnx ! Not at the moment, but I'll try to do it in the future.
Listen, trust me❤
Thanks for making this fantastic video, it let me learn a lot. And I'm wondering if you can make a video about the detailed procedures of launching and recovery the lifeboat. I believe it's also a vital part for being a professional seaman. Much Appreciate!!
I appreciate your comments. Thanks ! I plan to create more content about lifeboats and free-fall lifeboats, but at the moment, I don't have enough video content to make the videos I would like.
@@SeamanBlog Thanks 🙏 I’ll looking forward to it 🤩🤩
* If your EPIRB doesn't have a Test Button, most likely it's too old and unsupported. USCG FAR's will require you to upgrade if you're a Commercial Operator. Fun Fact: In the old days you'd notify an authority under USGS that you were testing your Emergency Beacon or EPIRB. * While testing, inflate and have professionally repacked your Liferafts at least once every five years.
Furtunately since I started working at sea, I have never seen an EPIRB on board without a test button 👍
What's this
This is an EPIRB - Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon. In case of an emergency at sea, in the middle of the ocean, such as the flooding of a vessel or the risk of flooding, it will help coastal rescue stations to accurately and quickly determine your location in order to provide assistance as quickly and effectively as possible. It can be activated both manually and automatically, depending on the situation.
👍
Breathtaking!❤️
What is it? Like a rescue becon?
Yep

how liferaft inflate? when the painter tension that is the time the liferaft inflate because the gas cylinder triggered.
the function of hydrostatic release unit is to cut thel lashing of liferaft
The collision occurred at the anchorage, and according to official statements, they say it was caused by strong winds.🤔 What do you think about that?
Great explanation 👍👍

Appreciateyour education efforts. One will never know enough how important it is to have a distress beacon on board. Just a bit disappointed that you didn’t credit the European Union (Galileo/SAR) for the reuse of their “reaching you faster” video
Thank you for your feedback. I aimed to make the video as informative as possible, primarily for myself as a seaman and for those working in this field. I will gladly credit the video source in the description. Could you please tell me the correct way to do this?
Felicitări!!! Foarte util!!!

Dear friend, Please make a reference to SOLAS and let me know where the requirements for marking the ship's name and port registry on the liferaft's body are located. Thank you for your help.
Welcome, as i understand ur question is LSA CODE - 4.2.7.2 Provision shall be made for marking each liferaft with the name and port of registry of the ship to which it is to be fitted, in such a form that the ship identification can be changed at any time without opening the container.
Prom practice side , supplier generally arrange the name of the ship and the port of registry stickers already installed on liferaft container to avoid any paint stencils by the crew side, to avoid the removing paint in future.
👍 keep creating new Videos.
Thank you so much for these detailed explanations on your vids! More power to your channel!

Your detailed explanation of the operational principles of EPIRBs, including the different categories, key components, and modes of operation, provided a comprehensive understanding of their functionality. Additionally, your comparison of the COSPAS SARSAT system, along with the LEOSAR and GEOSAR systems, was particularly enlightening. Understanding how these systems work together to locate vessels in distress is crucial for anyone involved in maritime operations. I sincerely like your videos
