Beautiful bird! Great vid!
Yamamoto was America trained
So, wingovers are like an aerobatic lazy eight.
Basically, it’s just the most extreme lazy eight
Wow. Nothing has changed! No need to spend hundreds of dollars on Sporty’s.
Ye olde GoPro
Learning to play war thunder be like.
The great ole days of Basic Flight Training in military Taildraggers.
These maneuvers are much less effective in a digital dogfight where nobody has regard for actual life. Also, who is the man narrating? I've heard him a lot and have never actually bothered to wonder.
@@daviddou1408 Which I'm sure 95% of the Warthunder crowd is unable to perform properly.
I'm going through naval flight school right now. Hilarious to see a training video from the 50's is explaining the wingover better than the online class I'm using nowadays
I fly rc planes and these old videos explain better than most current rc videos !
They are probably more concerned if the Chandelle is gender neutral.
@@rinzler9775 what the fuck are you talking about
Best of luck to you sir, if you're allowed to share, have you passed your flight school?
WATCH all the old school training films you can.. as korny as they may seem sometimes.. not only is it historically significant but one must understand they were there when it was Important that pilots lives mattered.. im building RC and watch all the time for familiarisation what a hoot!!
My dad was on his ground crew. He was his armorer. Dad tried to keep in touch with the 49th Fighter Squadron but became to old to travel to any of the reunions. He died in 2010. There are some pictures of the air field in New Guinea and a few of the ground crew and others & maybe a picture of Major Bong.
I enjoy these old training films, thanks for uploading it.
I learned about this guy on The Chase
It truly bothers me that Major Bong hasn't received the recognition he so deserves. Why hasn't Hollywood jumped all over making a movie about Major Bong? There probably won't ever be another American pilot to score that many air to air kills again. You the man RIB
I thought there was talk of this years ago, but from what I was told, it just never came to fruition.
They should make a movie!! Dad tells me about some really crazy stuff Richard (my name is Richard as well and i cant stand the nick "Dick") did and i think it would be a blockbuster!!
true american hero
If anybody makes fun of my cousin Richard you can die
Some random Person he's my cousin too
Some random Person I have pictures too from Superior. We can share!
Angela Tahtinen do you know an elna bong at all? I’m a cousin to him to! Elna bong was my grandpas mother so I’m a relative to dick.
Hobo I don’t think you can be related to a device used for smoking weed in the shape of a penis
@@nateterns2784 you're a piece of shit for making fun of our greatest Ace. You don't even have the balls to use your own name. It's a damn shame we don't have a time machine because I think it would be fitting to sit your ass down in one of the Mitsubishi A6M-9 Zeros Ira Bong had his crosshairs on
Richard ira bong is my cousin I just found out 2 years ago
two words: erich hartmann
All of his kills were claimed... lol Nazi nub. How did that war turn out for you? All of those kills were against Soviets and you know how they care about human life,.. just like you Nazis. #defeated
Yes, Hartmann was great, no doubt, but Americans were usually rotated out of combat. They took Bong out of combat twice. The first time in November 1943 until February 1944, and again for a couple of months in the summer of 1944. Bong was also out of action for three weeks in March 1944 after Tommy Lynch, a 20-kill ace and Bong's close friend went missing in action on the same fighter sweep as Bong (Bong saw him fall). Bong also had around 20 probables and another 20 to 30 that he wanted to claim, but as there were no witnesses, he couldn't count them. As a fighter pilot said about claims for a kill, "either we saw it crash in the ocean or land, a wing come off, the plane explode or the pilot bail out." Bong it was estimated probably shot down around 80, but they went by what they saw and knew.
Thing is, that same day the first nuke was dropped on Hiroshima.
Have you seen the picture of a newspaper, from I believe it was San Francisco, at the museum in Superior announcing his death? Him crashing was the main headline, and the Hiroshima bombing was the sub headline. It was quite surreal to see.
...for those four bastards who gave thumbs down....eat shit and die assholes.....
Use the boost!
Bong was the flier, Mac was the great shot. When pilots were debriefing missions afterwards, watching film, other pilots would wince at how close Bong got to the other planes before firing! Mac, on the other hand, just had the knack in mastering the deflection angles....
He just wanted to make sure that he would blow them out of the sky! 40 And he knew how to turn off one engine to make a sharper Turn.. That's why he went back to the states to Teach. the p-38 was a way better plan than any plane of the Japanese and it wasn't even our best plan. He did his Job, LIKE A BOSS.
+Michael McKenzie thanks, I think so too. I just didn't want a p-51 guy to get riled up. haha thanks for correcting me on the choke. turning it off maybe a dumb idea
His buddy's called him bing bang bong, On how easy it was for him
I'm just finding out he was an in-law to my family. dad was telling me he buzzed the farm in his P-38 at tree top level when he was back in the states. Are you related?
just put his model air plane together........such an awesome pilot and plane
gkgk
dick bong hahaha
OGVADER stop.. he's my cousin, not my first but he is very much blood related.
Stop making fun of my cousin Richard
My grandad's cousin.
This is my cousin Korey Bongs Dads 2nd cousin
Caleb Meyers He is my blood related cousin
Caleb Meyers my great uncle
If you turn the sound off and Put Sail by awolnation it works so well. Family love
only 4 p-38 Lightning'$ still flying!
Hello DD
I love these WW2 era training films. They make the toughest tasks look incredibly easy.
Ya, that's how it is unless you have a squad. Add me on steam, n0eticsyntax, and we can play together.
This helps me in IL-2, but when you realize it's mostly every man for himself, it's kinda hard to apply.
Thanks for the upload. This helped me out in War Thunder haha
I'm watching this for sexual arousement
Im watching this for a video game.
Haha Dick Bong
noouch I bet he hit the dickbong all the time
@@nateterns2784 there you go again you piece of shit!
America's Ace of Aces yet he his basically unknown today.
For me the TOP of the late props, really love this pretty Corsair. Thnx for sharing.
As a German fighter pilot, he would have been ranked 412th. Only Americans are able to carve heroes out of it ..... Not bad what he achieved during his adventure vacation. The P-38 is also not necessarily a good fighter plane, in Europe, it was shot down by the air force like flies. Therefore, it was only used for ground attacks (with hunting protection). There she was feared. The German air defense gave it the name "forktail devil".
Payback for Pearl harbor-Die Bastard
This is a great video for all of us civilian pilots who might wonder whether they could have flown these big WWII fighters.
"He was definately the ace of aces in America!"
hmmm inverted flight prohibitted,???
ITS A ZERO CHECK !!! and dive down on zero with a happy face... lol
