Just a thought, have you ever tried to file the edge of the coin down before you start making the ring? So after it's shaped into a ring maybe the inside edge will already be gone? Or would there be no advantage to doing it that way? Just curious. Love your videos, by the way.

Hey dude, as far as the cooper zinc penny thing. Cooper Pennies always weight 3.1 and over. The zinc are always 2.5!

thank you for making this for someone who doesn't have all the tools. im a steel fitter and CNC operator not this kind of metal working so have different tools. this will get me started to see if i like it and then maybe invest but i doubt it. love the work and content keep it up!

I can't get the coin on the stretcher. The hole is not large enough to go on.

I have just been getting into half dollar ring making but my first attempt with a silver coin broke on the first press. Was that because I left it over the flame for too long perhaps? I just need tips to avoid that because that was a very expensive fail😅

How did you find out how much they where worth?

Hi, first of all, I think you're doing a great job. I don't have a large budget, but I have found it is better to purchase the Chinese ring stretcher for between $100.00 - $200.00, simply because it does the work most of the other tools you mentioned. You can cone with it, shape it, and size it all with the same tool. Of course, you still need your reamer, ball bearing, mandrel with sizes, but that's it. If you plan on making any older quarter rings than 1965, you will need to anneal it. Mark it with a sharpie pen and heat just enough to make the sharpie mark disappear. Then drop in water to cool. If you try to heat it too much, you will distort it or melt it. I think you present very well.
