What if you were a child robbed of your childhood?
TITLE
What if you were a child robbed of your childhood?
DESCRIPTION
Do you feel you were robbed of a childhood? Annie Wright, a licensed psychotherapist specializing in childhood trauma recovery, addresses individuals who feel like their childhoods were stolen due to childhood neglect or growing up in abusive or otherwise unstable environments. She emphasizes that change and healing are possible regardless of being robbed of a childhood or adverse early beginnings. Wright draws connections between childhood trauma experiences and their impact on adult life, citing examples of situations that might have deprived one of a proper childhood. She outlines the various stages of human development and how missing key life-stage tasks due to childhood trauma can impact adult behaviors and relationships. Wright then offers hope and strategies for adults looking to reconcile with their past and repair the psychological damage, including therapy and self-supportive actions, to foster healing and fulfillment in their lives. The video aims to empower those affected by childhood trauma with the understanding and tools needed to navigate the path to recovery.

MORE ANNIE WRIGHT, LMFT:
I'm a classic example of someone who has made the personal professional.
After coming from and then healing my own extensive childhood trauma background, I became a licensed psychotherapist - specifically a trauma therapist who specializes in relational trauma recovery - and, in addition to my clinical work with clients, I also founded and run a boutique, trauma-informed therapy center in Berkeley where I oversee a staff of 20 clinicians and 5 operations staff who deliver top-notch clinical care to over 475 clients weekly across California and Florida.
Moreover, I'm a mental health writer with over 200+ essays on my personal blog centered around recovering from childhood trauma.
My writing and opinions have been featured in Business Insider, Forbes, NBC, Buzzfeed, and The Huffington Post, to name but a few.
I’m also a psychoeducational online course creator.
Every bit of my work in the world - whether through my direct clinical work, running my therapy center, publishing mental health thought leadership, or creating online psychoeducational courses - is devoted to helping those from relational trauma backgrounds recover and have wonderful adulthoods despite their adverse early beginnings.
And, when I'm not working, I'm a mom to an incredible five-year-old daughter, a Peloton fanatic, and an avid international traveler.

I think for your quiz maybe you should break up the questions a bit more. Like I can agree on half of the statement but not the other half exactly. Also what if it wasn't just my parents but teachers, friends, and siblings plus like 6-7 other events going on? Like it was just a lot of things going on throughout so I can't really blame it on just a few people or anything. I mean I always felt bad for my parents and pitied them so I don't know how to answer some of these quiz questions. Also, I think for #11 that D has a typo since it self-references itself. Also, #12 is a very limited view of the world, I don't qualify for any of these really answers good or bad. Also, #21 should be a 2 part question and nothing actually hard is something you can recover from in a few hours not anything life-changing no matter if you have tools or people, just say minor setbacks or setbacks. I like your CZcams content but your quiz was too particular and a bit misleading.

thanks for the video, i cut ties with my mother some months ago when i moved out given she was a narcissistic abuser along with other things and i haven’t looked back. there will come a day where all trauma will begin to bubble up to the surface but as of right now i can peacefully and safely say that i do not care for mother’s day and feel no shame about it.

I did take the quiz and it says there may be moderate relational trauma. I believe my trauma came from more sources than just my mother. I'm pretty negative "naturally" so being a negative person does push people away. I'm also what is going around as a HSP. 😑

@blfnefnef I hope you take time for yourself.. pray and find at least one healthy person with who you can little by little have a bond and feel safe.. I was abused as a kid also by my mother.. and have a sad story in my family.. it’s a journey.. but it is possible to heal.. Carnivore diet is helping me a lot for depression and having a strong body and a healthier nervous system just in case… Microdosing ( on my own rhythm) to proces emotions.. You have to start taking care of yourself, face solitude, loneliness and pain.. welcome those feelings even if is not easy.. use music, journaling, nature.. walks, self caring talk.. therapy.. little by little.. best on your healing journey.. I wish u the best of recoverings to your true self

This does help a ton - thank you. I was mentally & physically abused as a child & young adult. My first time having sex was someone date raping me. My mother & brother shot themselves in the head & so have a lot of my close friends. 2x, narcissistic abuse survivor, both lasted around 3 years. I dont want to be a victim, i want to be a survivor. I just want understanding & to get to a sense of normalcy & sometimes it feels like it will never happen. Thank you so much for helping myself & other people process these things, & learn how to rewire their brains.

Regret for wasted time? Oh god yes. I wish someone had talked about this when I was in my 30s. I'm 63 and at least now I know what I'm grieving. It has a name. My goal? To live before I die. To know what happiness is deep down inside me, not contingent on outside validation. It's never too late to grow up.
