@joaovieira6740 In this video I am using a medium, but in the past 5 years both medium and medium-hard reeds got lighter, mediums are too easy now, so nowadays I only can consider using a medium-hard.

@@ZsofiaStefanBassoon it sounds like your embochure got stronger and the reeds felt too soft! Im keen to try them medium as back then I could only get my hands on the medium hard! You make me want to take our my Legere and start playing on it again!

Hello Erick, If you use it on a daily basis, it won't last for years. I would say months, if you are lucky. I still have a reed from 2015, that I only used to record my CD, and to play a couple of recitals, and big orchestral solos. I use it very sparingly, this is why it lasts for so long. It is still working. Otherwise I would say they last for 1-2 months. But nowadays the shape of the reeds is quite different. I liked their old shape better. Good luck! It's a masterpiece indeed! Arrangements sometimes don't keep the original key. While having many flats and sharps doesn't really change the difficulty of a piece on the piano, on the bassoon it makes a huge difference. This is why I decided to change the key. The original key for this piece is G sharp minor. I'm happy you like it.

@@ZsofiaStefanBassoon maybe gently remind people at every opportunity that the fingering on the bassoon is the most awkward, illogical and infuriating of any wind instrument :D

@@NicolasConnault I will ask my clarinetist friend to show me! I heard clarinet fingerings can be pretty complicated too. But less keys and less distance at least. 🙂

Oh. And I’m also a professional orchestra bassoonist; I play both 1st and 2nd, and I play on a very old Heckel which tends to have smaller sound and higher in pitch. What model of the reed/year do you recommend? Thank you for your advice.

@@wanching_wu How did you find this review? It's intentionally hidden from the public. Because I wasn't satisfied with Legere reeds recently. I played them exclusively for years, and new models got worse and worse. I could not recommend the reeds I got last time. I indicated my issues at Legere. Maybe they'll change their reeds. I hope so.

Hi Kurt, I actually have a Rite of Spring recording played on a straw, but haven't uploaded it yet. :D Do you want me to do so? :) Plastic reeds were quite good back then. Later they got too easy for me, and very low in tune (again, for me), so I stopped using them in 2020. I don't have information about newer models. The company usually changes them a little (shape, style) once a year. I played that season with a Leitzinger bocal (Leitzinger 1, M, F).

@@ZsofiaStefanBassoon Well you can't say something like that and then not show it. I definitely have to see that. That's kind of sad to hear. I think I'm going to give it a try because consistency is a huge struggle, and if it's better than a good reed on a bad day, it's more than worth at least having one in the case. Sweet. Love the tone. I'll have to look into it. I'm on a Renard 240, and I'm thinking about grabbing a Heckel 2XL. But I really like that sound, and it looks responsive enough. I may have to look into the Leitzinger.

I'm so sorry but I can't remember. :( Medium-Hard is a better fit for me since 2019. If you're a professional, go for the Medium-Hard. Newer Mediums are too easy to play, they are more like a chamber music + basso continuo playing kind of reeds. But unfortunatelly Medium-Hards also got very easy (weak for me) recently.
