Good Morning! Great video. Awesome project. nothing better than drinking a mug of hot chocolate and watching your video! please keep up the Great work that you are doing.
Good of you to share. Im swapping out a transaxle on an old Murray which has become harder to change gear when running; with engine off no problem. I changed the drive belt 3 y ago so it's not stretched. Have a spare transaxle from the same machine which i took apart ten years ago so has had much less use. Soake the pulley over several days, supported the pulley and tried vibrating hammer point on the axle/spindle -- not budging. I don't have a long pickle fork like your one (maybe a short one somewhere.) It's not something i will be using much so unless its dead cheap I'll do without. Have seen people lever up with a crowbar and thwack the spindle (yes, i removed the circlip!). Any ideas welcome. Going to search prt two.
@@johncollins8304 sounds like you’ve got quite the project. My suggestion is get a bigger pickle fork at harbor freight for under $30. You can use it on so many applications it’s definitely worth the investment. Great for stuck pulleys and pulling apart car ball joints, tie rods, etc. Otherwise you can drill 2 holes in the pulley and use a “crows foot” harmonic balancer puller. They’re also not too expensive at harbor freight and can come in handy in many applications but I’d use the pickle fork before I go that route. You can also use 4 jack stands and some steel and hang the trans by the pulley and beat on the shaft until the trans falls down. Also heat and candle wax has surprised me with how well it worked in the past at removing rusted parts. Hope that helps and thank you for watching!
@@specialt9744 Thank you so much. I've suspended the pulley sprayed down several times a day for several days and used Makita vibrating hammer action drill to no effect. Have got the "harmonic balancer" doodad and may have to drill and tap the pulley. Many thanks again.😊

You have no idea on how to work on lawn mowers because that silicone won't work it will still leak you need to actually weld it not silicone you still got a lot to learn about working on lawn mowers
@@darylclemens2842 I used jb weld under the silicone. The silicone was just to double seal it. I’ve used it a few times since this video and no leaks yet. I repaired many other cracked cast aluminum cases this way with no issues. Thanks for the feedback and thank you for watching!
He probably used a pry bar to brake the crank case while taking off the flywheel. Shit happens, we all learn
@@MrManuel199713 no, the engine was cracked before I removed the flywheel. If it wasn’t leaking oil from the crack I would have never removed it in the first place, but thank you for watching!
On the idler pulleys, I drill out the spot welds/rivets take the 2 halves apart replace the bearing (usually a 6203) about $12-14. Or buy on line for about $2 each. I buy 10 at a time. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to replace the bearing. Where you save money is the next time the bearing needs to be replaced, takes about 15 minutes to remove from mower, replace bearing replace on mower done. Much cheaper than paying $15-30 for a whole new pulley. Just a suggestion. I had a Craftsman GT 5000. A very good machine. 25 horsepower Kohler 6 speed manual transmission.

Hello, do you know how to get the plastic on by the reverse lever.
@@Lasseb.hvisjegforetwin I know you have to remove the plastic reverse lever by taking a little screw out of the red plastic lever and then the lever comes off and then the plastic can be put on. I hope that helps and thank you for watching!

tear the motor down, and gribd a few thousantd off of the lifters, lap the valves. those cam lobes dont tend to spin of the shaft. ive been through hundresd of these and thats your problem. valve lash is off on a flathead. if you go to far, weld on the tappet and grind it to spec again

Where is the starter solenoid located on that machine?

sweet! whats that oppy on the ground at 2:55 for? And the oil leak could be from the oil filter, i had one start leaking from an old filter. Still a good idea to reseal the sump, but a new filter cant hurt.
I’m thinking with a little forced induction that oppy would do great wheelies… unfortunately this mower had a leaking sump and crank seal so I ended up doing all the gaskets and seals on the bottom end. Thank you for watching!

Could be the cam but it's more likely in my experience that it was overheated and the valve seats walked into the block or the guides walked out. You already put more into that mower in parts than its worth. (Was a power equipment tech for a decade until last year)

Smart, you used a jack stand instead of crawling under it with just the jack.
It weighs 15 pounds from the front 😆 A good sneeze would get it off you if it fell on your head lol
The jack stand takes up less space too, leaving more room to work on it

Oh yea for sure I like to hook it under my trailer hitch and it keeps it at a nice angle to work on

That is one neat tractor! Just curious, did you do anything to make both wheels spin at the same time? Like a limited slip? What kind of exhaust do you use? It sounds good. I was going to run my Murray without mufflers, but it was way to loud for that. Kohler V twin 25 horsepower.
Thanks man! I left the transaxle alone and just put oil in it so no limited slip. Also I put the stock “headers” on backwards and just cut and welded them into 2.5 inch exhaust pipe that comes out each side. Thank you for watching!

I have a suggestion that you could put on it but you would need to make some sort of homemade intake which is taking a Briggs & Stratton V-Twin and add the turbo to that

check for a vacuum leak? if not, then clean/rebuild the carb
I was draining the rest of the fuel out of the bowl before putting it storage, but normally it runs good. Thank you for watching!
