To this day in 2024, this band has had few equals in terms of consistent quality.
The fact that it's an "Australian folk song"makes me love it even more!...that riff!
this is a real find - used to have a video of them playing to about 20 people - it was like some ones sitting room - you could hear individual applause - great band - particularly this line up

I saw them here in Chicago at the Chicago Theatre and it was marvelous. Brought this when it first came out. Excellent album. They won a Grammy for Still Have That Other Girl In My Head. Bacharach wrote so many classics with Hal David and after David died, he occasionally wrote with others like Carole Bayer Sager, Christopher Cross (Arthur's Theme) and then he got together with Elvis Costello and they came up with all these great songs. If you don't have it, you owe it to yourself to listen to the entire thing, especially What's Her Name Today? Brace yourself for that one, because it's about an abusive relationship that ends badly. Great song though, along with all the others. That one, plus This House Is Empty Now, In the Darkest Place, those are my favorites and of course Toledo, which is classic Bacharach. Listen to some old Dionne Warrick to really appreciate Burt and his sound.

I was at the gig a year later at Royal Albert Hall but on that occasion, there was just him and Steve Nieve on piano, amazing performance
It would be great to pair this vid with his recording x
I also have an excellent audio recording, but getting the two to sync is very time consuming verging on impossible.
I WAS IN THE CROWD HERE WITH TWO OF MY BROTHERS and one of them recorded this on a walkman his sound is alot better than this it was a fenominal concert x
If you can get access to that tape if it’s still in good condition, get it scanned and digitised, we need more people to preserve things about this band

I was in the Glasto audience for this Go-Betweens show (which I've only just discovered). Great to be reminded that the concert was as good as Robert's pink, flared hipster trousers!
I was also there my brother recorded this on his walkman better audio taken right in the middle and no wind or so
