I think this encapsulates the problem I have with a lot of video game stories produced by asian developers.

This is one of those games I would love Nightdive to revive. Fix the visual quality, polish the gameplay so the animations don't trap you, give unlimited saves, make safe rooms safe, and so on.

I'm pretty sure that what the music does differently to modern "mass media" classical scoring is: putting in creative effort. That and taking inspiration from a number of classical compositions and masters, because i swear so many little moments sound like a love letter to various composers. Instead of looking to copy john williams and hans zimmer's homework wholesale like your average movie composer suffering under extreme time crunch, this has a variety of inspirations but also remains refreshingly original.

You know what blows my mind in retrospect of this game? It's proof that games genuinely don't need to die. This game started off as an MMO. It had subscription services and a 'lifetime' purchase. This likely had a central server everyone could connect to just like live service games. Meaning that, whatever costs it took to make the game single player *after* it was already released, was presumed to be less than the revenue they would make from people buying a *single player MMO after it died*. Which really makes you realize how *trivial* the work must be to make the game single player, and how easy it could be for *other* games like this.

@1:04:12, I appreciate your integrity, but you should also look at this is a way to GRASS ROOTS support your cause as well. People will learn of it via these products means that may not have otherwise. You could also take a portion (or all?) of the money and inject it into a cause to help mitigate the exploitation in a way that makes it less abhorrent and still justifies the positive side of making money from it.

It's the growth that makes businesses non-sustainable.

Fun fact: Christmas Goblins are indeed a thing. Ubisoft, Bethesda, EA. I just don't buy their games anymore, there's always a catch. To hell with AAA games, buy indie or small publisher, there are loads of great titles to choose between

Man don't you diss my desktop shortcuts. I don't wanna hover over every icon to see its info, and any out of sight list would be out of mind cause I'd forget it existed... Also I've used Win7 for most of my life and I'm okay with delving into the mazes of system files and weird UI. That said, at work we have Windows 11 and in the four years I've been here I still have no idea what I'm doing.
