Wait, why do you hate to say it?? Yea, I generally just assume others will upload at least one video of every song that happened, but so glad I got a few, because there are small little moments that I wouldn't have remotely remembered. Crazy how few uploads there are from this show

Of course man! I can't believe how little footage has been added from this show! I would have captured more had I known. I was so in the moment that i was just holding the phone up like on my shoulder and not even looking at what I was recording half the time hah
@@maxwelljkatz Meh, I could have recorded it but I just wanted to listen. I've forgotten most of it now and this is the only reminder I have of it really <3 So glad they played this! I recorded the last moments of the track. I know Alexandra Palace would have recorded it and it would have been amazing to have been able to buy a copy...

we can all dream :) although I'm not sure it would fit with the current sets. I'm sure he would change it up in a wonderful way, but this version as we know it is definitely a thing of the past. It was probably one of my first original favorites of his too though for sure

Hah yea, they were doing that every now and then, I think the saving grace was that it didn't seem heckly really, almost self aware joking (but doesn't necessarily mean ben would hear it that way). I definitely would have preferred that they weren't doing it for sure though

I'm so happy you noticed that. In the moment it was so unreal and since I've been back home I've made my girlfriend watch that moment a few times and she's officially done hearing about it haha. The video got grainy upon upload, but in the original on my computer you can really see him go up to the mic to sing and then just starts smiling and taking the moment in and is smiling and laughing. What a night

The existence of it had been known for 12+ years, but apart from the one known person who owned the physical copy (and wouldn't share it), no one had heard it or been able to come across it. It was very wild when I finally got my hands on it

Thank you for uploading this. Honestly, wouldn't be able to listen to this if it weren't for both your hard work chasing down these songs or your willingness to share. And what a different side of his music we were able to see due to all of this. There are a few glitches (0:01 - 0:02; 4:30; 6:22 - 6:23). Is this how you have the file, or is it something that happened when uploading the song to CZcams?
I appreciate the thoughtful reply! It's hard to explain to people who don't get it just how much of the previous 10 years were spent scouring the internet for this. It was enjoyable though the whole time, to the point that once I finally got it I almost didn't know what to do. (I didn't listen to Back To The River for over a year after getting it from the source I found, I just had been chasing it for so long I wasn't ready for the chase to be truly over). As for those glitches, yea those are in the files I have prior to uploading to CZcams. The person who sent me the files (in exchange for the deal we made) sent them like that, so I'm not sure if it's that the CD is just 15 years old and was a bit scratched or what, but that is how they came!

I am now digging into this hole pre-2011. I am an audio engineer and really interested into the chronology of these demos, if you don't mind talking more about this since you definitely know far more than I do. I understand there were 2 recordings of Games in The Dark EP. It seems like it from the difference in Ben's performance as well as the production of the songs. How far apart are these, do you know? And what is the track list for both? I've noticed on the subreddit dedicated to him that a group of people managed to get a copy of Games in The Dark including Back to The River and and "alternate versions" of Games In The Dark and Wouldn't Be a Lie. Both of these are more polished in terms of production, I suspect they are in the 2nd recording of GITD EP (?). Were Jessica and Back To The River part of the initial EP? Where does Ocean Song fall into all of this? Is Ayla Schafer doing backing vocals on both EPs? I'll leave links to all the tracks, if it's of any use.
