Thank you! I would try changing the speed of your shifts & see how the car responds. Maybe the car wants a touch faster or slower. Are you starting the shift at 2-2.5k RPM or ending it there? I almost always upshift at no less than 3k RPM If you have the shift indicator arrow enabled, that will say to shift too early. It is OEM attempt at fuel economy & will frequently suggest I be in 4th gear when I'm barely going 30mph, and might even tell me to go to 5th right after.

@@ThePedalDance And would you step on the gas a tad bit, just before fully release the clutch after upshift? I'm not sure whether this would help the gear change smoother

@ngeamtw89 when up shifting at speed, let off clutch completely before giving it gas. Under 3-5mph is the only time to give it gas with the clutch pushed in. You would maybe give a little gas near clutch bite point, not much, if any.

I know what you mean & I really do miss throttle by cable. BRZ & GR86 have different throttle mapping from factory, so I can’t speak directly for 86 but there are a couple things you might try… Normally, I wouldn’t use a throttle controller, like Pedal Commander, but I will admit it made a huge difference on this BRZ. Made throttle much more linear & predicable. I set it to City -4 and haven't touched it. Stock GR86 throttle curve is less linear than stock BRZ. In GR86 with a 40--85% pedal press, car is asking for 100% torque. Basically a huge dead space in the pedal. A tune could also address throttle mapping but that is for you decide. Personally, I have no desire to tune this car but I did tune my 1st gen BRZ & other cars. MTEC Clutch Spring. @@ThePedalDance Wow, that makes sense why the 2,000 rpm blips are so much easier. I always feel like when I try to get 2nd gear high rpm I have to wait for the revs to build at 60% throttle and get lucky on guessing when it decides to actually give me what I'm inputting. Also I have the stock clutch spring and hate the lack of feel so maybe I'll try the mtech helper spring, thanks.

Yeah, the 2006 Sport Edition V8 was rusting out & it was time to let it go. But I’m always looking for another 4Runner. Would love to get another 3rd gen. My 2001 Sport Edition was the best truck I’ve owned. Only a matter of time :)

I’m sure you’re doing great! If you pay attention, the car will tell you what it likes & doesn’t like. Try different things & see how it responds. Drive without the radio & listen to the car. Try with windows up & down and with climate control on & off. You’ll feel a lot through the seat, pedals, shifter, steering wheel, etc.

@@ThePedalDance is it better than on the previous gen? My good buddy tracked his 14 BRZ regularly and had the spring fix, but said it was maybe a 15% upgrade over stock.. dude is maniacal though.. wears vibram 5 toes for better pedal feel lolol.. i stick to Chucks and Vans, personally

@dre32pitt I have zero complaints after the MTEC spring. The stock spring is just a bit too strong. No spring feels weird. MTEC is just right, IMO. Also, I had a first gen BRZ & I didn't do anything to that clutch or clutch pedal. I care a lot about clutch feel, to the point of replacing stock dual mass flywheel with a Southbend Stage 3 SMF on a 2018 Golf R

@@ThePedalDance Have you driven a P-Car? Easily the best pedal box I've used (had a 987.1 Cayman S for 16 months recently).

Thanks! No pedal spacer. It just takes practice. Only modification I've done to pedals is MTEC Clutch Spring for better clutch feel.

In theory, these would completely blind oncoming traffic. Definitely not recommended. Not to mention it’d be illegal. I wouldn’t do it either.

Yeah, it's so dark here & tons of animals. I will make another video with different camera setup to better capture the light performance. Install was not easy on 2nd gen BRZ because no one makes brackets for these cars. Diode Dynamics makes brackets for every other Subaru, plus a kit for 1st gen BRZ to replace fog lights with SS3 pods but obviously that doesn't work for 2nd gen. I bought the standard SS3 pods that include universal mounting brackets. Universal brackets alone are too short by 2-3in to clear grill opening when installed to underside of steel crash bar. I used riv-nuts to install ditch light brackets for F-150 to underside of steel crash bar, then mounted Diode Dynamics universal brackets to repurposed F-150 brackets. Aimed lights & tightened all hardware before reinstalling front bumper. The wiring & everything else was super easy. If you're good with metal work, I'm sure making a custom bracket would be easier & most likely better. I did find free 3D Print plans for 2022+ BRZ brackets for SS2 pods (search reddit & forums). I already had the SS3 pods, so that wasn't an option. I have photos of install on IG: LiftedBRZ

​@@tone3560 I do but still disagree. It is important for car control. I would encourage anyone willing, to get comfortable rev-matching, then learn heel toe. The best way to do that is practice & most people do the majority of their driving on the street.

@@ThePedalDance I can move my feet fast enough to rev match and brake. The milliseconds I would save actually heel toeing would be a negligible gain.

Definitely! I drive this car in harsh winter conditions and it hasn't let me down. There's a bunch of snow driving videos on my channel if you want to check it out.

I got "stuck" once but on a road that was not maintained and I shouldn't have been there. Was able to self-recover in about 15min with just an avalanche shovel. So I don't really count it as being truly stuck. My confidence in the car with this setup has only increased the more I push its limits.

@@aujourduy7795 you won’t regret it. Tires are everything. RWD just requires a little more thought & attention. Being lightweight & having limited slip differential helps immensely. It’s very easy to control & scrub speed. My stopping distances are much shorter than heavier 4x4 / AWD vehicles. For decades, police drove exclusively RWD cars & tires technology wasn’t what is today. If you can’t run studs in your state, I suggest Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5 or Michelin Ice-X on 16in or 17in wheels.

I absolutely love it. Only way I’d ever go is if I had two 86 chassis’. One safari & one grip build. The 1.5in ADF lift isn’t expensive & install is easy. The most expensive thing would be new wheels and tires but you could get them used. Also 16in tires are way cheaper than bigger sizes.

They’re both good. Have a set of each on two different Outback’s. But I agree, the DM-V2 are slightly better for my use. DM-V2 are meant for heavier vehicles, whereas WS90 are generally for lighter passenger cars. WS90 in 225/65r17 is 3lbs lighter than the same size DM-V2 and has a higher speed rating. Of course, the tread patterns are different. Specs & price are basically identical. Can’t go wrong with either.

I hear you but sometimes you don’t have a choice. Outback on Blizzaks had no problems. Also prepared to get myself unstuck or spend the night in the car. Recovery gear, extra clothes, food, water, power, heat, etc.
