I grew up in oak meadows off 225 and Allen Genoa road. Went to Deady and Milby.I did all those things he sang about. My dad owned a big Sinclair station on corner of telephone and wayside. I ran it at night by my self while in high school and was never robbed. Different times back then.. After the Navy, I worked at gulfgate selling stereos and tv’s for City Appliance.

Country Gentlemen sang this originally ❤ Are the young child I remember watching it in the movie liars Moon with Matt Dillon and Hoyt axton and my dad always loved the song and wanted to get played at his funeral... He is now 84 and still kick in and will probably outlive us all! For the song always reminds me of him and it's such a heartfelt, beautiful song! I never knew anyone else covered it and this was pretty amazing

After a lot of procrastination I finally got around to purchasing the Chinaberry Sidewalks e-book - a good 'read' (amazing what ears can do, heh heh...), gotta cue it up again soon; now, I know this song is the book in miniature, but I'm stumped - 'seven long years sure went by slow...) - he was locked up briefly on a scofflaw charge, but not that long. I didn't hear that in the book. Artistic license, maybe? No disrespect, I'd really like to know.
