    Thanks for a great and simple explanation of the process flow. I have just begun on the NINA journey so simple instructions on its nuances are good. I have a newly commissioned 3m ScopeDome on a rural property that I am working towards operating remotely from the house there and also from our city apartment. NINA looks like a great piece of control software for this purpose. I will have to use the Advanced Sequencer but getting started on it was a bit daunting. You have made it much simpler by using this approach as it is clearer for me what additional instructions I need to add, and where, after identifying the target and imaging requirements.

    For me, the biggest plus is the 12-24v adjustable output port. I run an Intel NUC on my rig and they all require 19v to operate. I have to use a Power Inverter Step up Regulator in addition to my PAUPBv2 to get one of the 12v outputs up to 19v. The EXT port is for an external temp/humidity probe if you don't use the built-in temp probe on the box. That's new also. The Relay port can be used to trigger a RoR to open or close.

    It didn't sound all that solid and I was trying to spot a locking screw on that bayonet fitting but couldn't see one. I'd be reluctant to put expensive gear on it and have to rely on only a bayonet connection.

    I have v2. Encountered a design flaw showing it susceptibile to dos attack. Unfortunately the company has virtually no customer support, they are rude and treat customers with utter contempt, has no desire to secure their product, and acted like a bunch of three year old children. Had no regard for the consumer laws they were breaking. So disgusted with the company, I doubt I'll ever buy anything of theirs again. This behaviour sabatogues their own business. And this is very unfortunate because the unit is actually really good aside from that. If only they learned some business skills....

  • @grahamwhite75a
    @grahamwhite75a Před 6 dny

    In fairness to Pegasus the price is comparable to a Primaluce Lab Eagle when you add a PC. On the power connector this is a sensible choice, one of the criticisms of the Power Box Advanced was the fact that both the power outputs and power input to the box are 5.5mm x 2.1mm. Many people accidentally stuck to power input into the adjustable power output on that box and destroyed the output. Making the connector a different plug is good, though I agree they should have included a cord in the box for that.

  • @grahamwhite75a
    @grahamwhite75a Před 6 dny

    Relay is useful for 10micron mounts. The 10micron has a port that if you momentarily close a contact onto it will toggle the mount on or off so is very useful for a remote observation setup.

  • @matforsbon

  • @GregMcCall
    @GregMcCall Před 6 dny

    Unlike the wanderer, the Pegasus doesn’t have individual sensors for each dew heater which makes it inferior to others like the celestron or wanderer. A big oversight as you still have to guess settings, particularly with different size dew straps eg. Guide scope and OTA. So many people just don’t look into the details and just guess which has given Pegasus an over inflated use by people who don’t know

  • @RyanParle81
    @RyanParle81 Před 6 dny

    I've had one of these for about 6 months, great piece of kit although I've had a few cases where it's needed a hard reset due to total loss of connectivity to the pc, it's not happened for a while. The XT60 is a great connector and easily handles the current, im personally pleased that the don't include the adaptor as the 5.5 x 2.1mm dc jack at the other end not really up to the job of providing full power to the UPBV3 and a full rig. The best advice is to use the 10a power supply sold by pegasus. As for the relay connection that is simply a pair of terminals that are either open or closed depending on the relay status, it could be used to switch any load up to 220v 8a (although I don't think the idea of having 220v at the telescope is a great idea) I vaguely remember something about the ability to connect the Uranus weather station to the EXT port. But i dont see it mentioned in the manual

      @@indysbike3014 it's main connectivity is via the USB3 connector to a pc but it can also be controlled over Wi-Fi, however I've found it to be a bit slow to connect

  • @JanosLenart
    @JanosLenart Před 6 dny

    The EXT port also accepts a hand controller for manual focusing (which doubles as an external temperature/humidity sensor)

  • @gclaytony
    @gclaytony Před 6 dny

    EXT is the weather sensor (temp + humidity) that comes with the UPBs. The XT60 has been standard since the UPBv2 - it necessary to handle setups where the full power output is required. The older RCS connectors are only good for a fraction of the amp load of the XT60 and you should NOT put such an adapter/connection in the power supply circuit unless you know for certain that the total power draw of all connections at 100% is below the max current limit of the 2.1/2.5 connector.

  • @Bogfra1
