Funding the right interface can be really a challenge. I ended up getting the ID 44 MKII and I’m glad. At the same time there are almost so many options that it is another challenge. The interaction with Ableton is challenging too. Here are my thoughts.

I have the same issue with that interface. I bought the id44 without the mkii to save a little bit. It shut down so much when i was setting it up and testing it. I'm sending it back and was thinking of getting a new mkii. But seems like you have the same issue with that model. Don't know how they get good reviews if their product doesn't work right

I do the same thing with my Audient id44 MK2. I use the Empress Compressor MK2 on the inserts. I get some killer results in particularity with vocals. It's typically used for guitar but fits in nicely as a studio quality compressor. I use other outboard gear as well but found the Empress to get the job done most of the time. The Audient stuff is built to survive a nuclear zombie apocalypse. 8)
I came across a Digi003 rack at the pawnshop today $40 couldn’t bet that I was thinking.. So I tried to connect it many of ways to my Clarett +8pr , I get a signal but no sound.. I was thinking about Deisy chaining it to my Pro 40 then connect the Pro 40 via Optical .. If you have any suggestions I’m open to hear from you.. Other then that I don’t want to waste it..
You have to set one to slave to the other . Set rhe digi to be the master
@@brucehathcockmusic ok so I set the Digi to master I do get a signal and I can hear once I place a track on ADAT, but it’s not running there my gear and there’s no inputs and outs for my slave interface.. I know it’s something I’m over looking..

@@brucehathcockmusic was to confusing so I set my Pro 40 back up and out of the blue I wasn’t getting anymore feedback so that’s a plus.. I will hold on to the Digi03 for the future I guess when I can wrap my head around it but thanks bro appriecate the help..

Just got back into making music after 10yrs and got my Digi003 rack out the attic. About to put a pcie firewire card on the pc so i can hook it up. Glad to see other people still using the old stuff

Whats the latest version of pro tools can i run with my digi 003? And can i run it with the latest operating system?
I have seen people run some very late versions but I only used it in pro tools 8 for tracking and automation .

I end up paying like 600 to own pro tools
The company’s make a a lot of money doing subscriptions and yearly just cost too much but only do subscriptions if something is really need it but now day’s every thing is a subscription model

Why not use the Apogee?
I needed the inserts for my outboard gear and I use the Apogee for my Mac Book when U have to travel.
Yeah, I got the same audient id44, but I was looking to buy the Apollo x8 for more line outputs. I don't have that issue with audient, but I do use Reason, Reaper and logic pro. The audient interfaces are great units for sure, but I need more line outputs for my use nowadays. Hope you get that situated with your unit. Much love Bruce

You can get more inputs with the Audient pre amp using adat too by the way let me know if you are interested. I can shoot a quick video on how to do it very cheap and effective way to go.
@@brucehathcockmusic I was thinking about getting that pre amp or the Ferrofish Pulse 16. I do know how to hook it up and all, but I just don't know if getting the Apollo x8 (which does have 10 line outputs, and I can use the thunderbolt connection, which is faster than USB), or expand the audient id44 through adat. I never used Apollo interfaces, so I don't know how well they function. Do you know if Apollo interfaces are good with outboard gear, such as channel strips and compressors, etc. ? I've used the Digi 002 and 003 for years. But I've been told a million times other interfaces like Lynx and Apollo are far superior. So I bought the Lynx Aurora 16 original. But then I A/B tested both micing my drum kit with 10 channels. Both the same beat, mics, levels, directly in with no other units in between, completely raw in. I blind tested with friends and most of them said they liked Digi 003 without even knowing which was which. The Lynx just sound very slightly different. But not really any noticeable quality gain. Not only that, Lynx does not have a headphone jack, so I had to buy a completely separate headphone amp along with a Midi Interface as well cause the Midi is useless. Aaaaand I have to keep a rack space empty above and below because the thing runs hot as hell. If left on too long, it disconnects from the comp sometimes. The idea of having a "better" and more "transparent" interface is a scam imo. If anyone is looking to get an interface, trust me, the Digi 003R is great and only $200. It gets flack only because it was marketed for the average consumer trying to make music at home and not "engineers" and "professional studios".

Just copped the Rackmount 003, but having issues getting the drivers for it. won't download on the Avid site for some reason.

I got a new 003 rack, how did you get yours to work.
You are going to need to get the driver just search the driver o google. Get the latest one. You may want to use an older version of pro tools or you can midi map it to ableton
