He's definitely on drugs. Only a coke head acts like that 😂 jumping around and screaming
So basically John was on the spectrum
John K and Spumco were Fired on 2/26/1993 after complete 4 remaining season 2 episodes. NOT 1992. 9/23/1992 was when Nickelodeon revealed that they would be starting Games Animations and were requesting John K work with them. He Refused, so Nick cut their Budget and Terminated their contract 5 months later.
2:17 Oh no, poor Charlie Brown and Snoopy... Don't let John K get you guys 😭
2:17 Oh no, poor Charlie Brown and Snoopy, run away from John K as far as possible and don't let him harm you guys 😭
10:58 yeah keep telling yourself that..John disturbed to be let go from the show… just because you make a creator driven cartoon doesn’t mean you get to do whatever you want.. there are boundaries and he used up all his chances because he wanted to be difficult… and then when he’s like go, he plays the victim card
While I will say I like the more edgy and adult side of ren and stimpy like mans best friend and space madness and even happy happy joy joy but , for a kids show having this between rugrats and Doug and hey Arnold is litterally insanity and damn John is a disrespectful rude sh!t face , I love ren and stimpy at an art perspective one of my huge influences before I found out what a ass this guy was definitely disappointing even now
Hey Arnold came out in 96. I was watching Ren & Stimpy along with Doug/Rugrats since 3 years old. It bugged me out at times but I loved it. It made no sense in that Nicktoons block but it had a bigger impact being shown to kids.
I have always felt that Stimpy & Stinky's reunion was one of the most emotionally-charged scenes in damn near any cartoon of the era. The way it builds and builds to that moment and climaxes with that exact, spare instrumental of "Silent Night" is magnificent. He may have been making fun of it, but in the process he made probably the purest example of it.
12:43 oh look. Michael Jackson's favorite John K Cartoon short. No I'm not making this shit up
The first guy to get cancelled over false allegations. I guess lol mee too always hurts everyone.
Pedos usually claim other pedos aren't pedos
It's one of my favorite episodes of the series.
Uncle Eddie really looks like an uncle now in this.
The more I’m reminded of this show’s terrible production with the OG Spumco staff, the more I feel sad for Bob Camp. Sure, maybe going back to do the show without the OG team was a dick move and maybe the parties could’ve thought of a better compromise, but at the same time, Bob and a bunch of other OG artists staying for Games was probably the best outcome for the show going forward, even if Games did produce some of the lesser episodes of the series. Personally, I feel Ren & Stimpy was best when John and Bob worked together, I am not one of those fans who tries to put one man over the other, because look at what happened after they separated for both Games’ later episodes and MOST of the shit show that is Adult Party. But I still feel Camp gets somewhat unfairly because of the original studio division in 1992. I look at what he did for Games as trying his best to care for a child separated from their abusive parent. Was he perfect at it, no. But I still respect him & the remaining Games crewmembers for at least trying to make something out of a shitty situation. As for John K, look, he CAN be a good artist and a good driving force when he’s heavily monitored and occasionally told no. But aside from his bright spots on OG R&S, yeah he and his dumbass abusive dad can both burn in hell. I am NOT defending those freaks any further, sorry. How do you guys (and the possible naysayers I feel I WILL get) feel about the situation? Fire away if you want….
I agree. I think the best of Ren and Stimpy is mostly confined to those first two seasons. The third season had a few winners but after that, it went down hill.
10:51 stuff like this comment is why I hate journalists/interviewers. Always trying to form a narrative over their contrive beliefs.
You realize that John Kricfalusi is a lying bastard? The interviewer was giving him a CHANCE of reflection, and he shoots it down ignoring the problems HE fucking caused at Spumco! John K will never learn from his mistakes, and he should rot in jail for what he did to Robin and Katie….
John k will never take accountability for anything because hes never had to.
Neither will Vanessa Coffey. She's a LIAR.
Its always sad when talented people,be they artists, actors, musicians, turn out to be terrible people in real life. This cartoon will be forever tainted by all this, which is a shame because it was not only historically important to the art of animation, but a part of so many peoples memories
Vanessa is unfortunately a LAB. She's LYING. I cannot believe I have to say this.
This show had such a talented crew of artists behind it. Its a shame John wasnt easier to work with and ultimately brought about its own demise (in more ways than one). But the show and the artwork did definetly suffer after John K was fired. You could tell the artists got lazy and started drawing them in a faster, more indifferent production line manner. You could see a lot of Chris Reccardis simplified "flat" drawings over and over. Just as John needed to be reigned in to a certain extent by the network to keep from going off the rails, the artists needed to have John reigning them in to a degree to keep from drifting too far off course.
Vanessa Coffey seems like a really nice lady, but I dont think she understood this show or what made it funny. Stimpy isnt real. Its a cartoon and the violence was funny
@xadoc319bruh, call that corporate stooge a goddess is insane levels of simping. 🤣
The way I see it, both sides have a point. Looking at it now and seeing that it wasn’t as bad as it was made out to be, but looking at the execs perspective, the least they could’ve done was ask John to make the sequence less intense. At the same time John should’ve been more professional and willing to compromise more like in the past.
Ren and Stimpy was NEVER a kids cartoon. It was better suited to MTV than Nickelodeon.
I agree
Bother were owned by Viacom.
smash
That card with the German Shepherd with a black bag over its head whilst having a gun in its mouth along with the words "You're gonna d*e, bi*ch" is really disturbing to me. I hate dogs with every fiber of my being, but this is just awful. I wonder who the sick f*ck was that sent it to this sweet woman and where they're at now?
Vanessa is a Clout Chaser and Bald Face LIAR. No she didn't deserve to have a Death Threat mailed to her, but she ain't no Damn Victim.
John: no its the 50's,60's, 70's and 80's are a embarrassment and travesty.
6:20 he’s saying this like he’s the main man who made Ren and Stimpy. He’s such a narcissist. He flinging blame, taking the blame off himself…
agreed. thats what happens when you start to rely on too much success even great talent like john k can crash and burn very quick and that can result to too much ego, too much excellence too many expectations
I seriously think that Ren and Stimpy show could have been the Spongebob of the 90s if John K respected deadlines and his staff.
You've got to be kidding! SpongeBob isn't even half this show Ren & Stimpy was! This was the show that really set into motion the great animation Renaissance of the 90's. Every show since copied it. The modernist style, the use of vintage production music, lush painted gross out stills, the animation techniques of the past. Nobody was doing this until John K's ren and Stimpy. It's sad that John ended up destroying all this later, and that his drawing style has changed so much and become less "atomic" and more ugly and distorted. I also can't stand the "adult party cartoon" series and him making the characters gay.
It is if better I watched spongebob pretty much the only cartoon that I watched when I was little and this show is better
Also people from ren and stimpy worked on sponbebob plus ren and stimpy inspired spongebob in some ways
@@Suddenlyits1960 SpongeBob is also not as great as Rocko's Modern Life in my opinion.
@@sharkboi8265 Rocko also inspired SpongeBob. Stephen Hillenburg worked on Rocko's Modern Life before SpongeBob, look it up.
Big surprise it fell apart because they were creating real art. Not bullshit ‘abstract’ art which takes no time and no talent. The money people expected them to create REAL art in a bullshit ‘abstract’ amount of time.
John is really mentally ill person psycho
I blame John k and Nick as well for the firing. John K was asking for too much. it was a miracle for him doing all that comedy and he was asking for too much. and Nick because all thoses changes in plots, jokes, etc. making the dateline hard to get. That's why after the season 4 R&S didn't have the same impact they had a first. The season 3 was an exception but only because was incomplete stories from Spumco before the firing.
No, you’re wrong. The animation industry is a business. They give the artists about four or eight months to produce a cartoon episode(John said it in the documentary himself). Time and time, John has failed in delivering on time for the sake of “his” art, while valid is not excusable. “Man’s Best Friend” was his last bite at the producers’ hands. He got himself fired, and in doing so destroyed Spumco. (at that time at least)
That’s not to dunk on the episode itself. Honestly, it’s really ahead of its time because they’d probably air this episode today (minus the tobacco references). But, at the time, there were rules set up to how much you could get away with on a CHILDREN’S cartoon! John and everyone at Spumco was aware of this. That’s what makes Ren and Stimpy good, the artists and producers working TOGETHER! But, John threw it all away because he’s an entitled asshole…
John K also is the reason why most Networks stopped giving artists full control on the cartoons they make, thanks to him and the way he disrespected people and staff we would never have cartoons made by cartoonists without network interferences, I respect John as an artist but as a person I think he screwed up a cartoon revolution basically
So sad to Bob saying that he and John Both have not seen each other since 1992 because of the pain John have cause not only to bob but everyone else with work with John and and keep talking about it all these years later so hard to watch and emotional too.
@@Siao-ij4yn Camp initially took the documentary as strsight forward and serious when the documentary was in production until other interviewees were joking, both well before was exposed. Camp, in a convention, got mad when someone asked for his signature on recent John K. art becuase John is akin to being "dead to [him]". Camp said that some in the industry were untruthful because many John loyalists continue in the shows that Camp later worked on, such as Cow and Chicken, in whcih he was not given writing or directing duties, despite being a de-facto showrunner in seasons 3-5 of R&S. Overall, being seen a Judas by John K and his fans did not help.
Bob wasn't exactly a sweetheart either. He was known as the baddest bad boy of the Spumco bad boys & John K's right hand a*shole, always threatening to punch people through walls or strangle them if they didn't do thinks his and John's way @@jstevinik3261
13:21 MR LAWRENCE💚💚
Let's be clear. The cartoos WITHOUT John K. WERE NOT Ren & Stimpy. They were COPIES of it.
Nah it was still Ren & Stimpy
No it wasn't. They SAID it was different., and it was - go watch them. They try to gross you out instead of scare you with insanity.
I wish he created more scenes like Hot Chihuahua Lust
They should make a horror movie about John Kricfalusi.
John did nothing wrong
Watch the full documentary and then come back saying that
@@NickGoorgN the women obviously lied liek they always do lol.
@@BasedPajeet idk I mean John kinda admitted to it by apologizing to one of them indirectly
No any other documentary gave me so many feelings. Curiosity, Happiness, Shocking, Inspiration, Admiration, Surprise, Sadness, Shame and Overthinking.
John K sounds exactly like any interview with a serial killer. It's not mistakes, it's a crime. Complete sociopath. Can't say the words I am sorry. When you got the dime you don't do time. Too bad Robin Byrd's parents never went to child welfare, or were they like that too?
Man I respect John K’s aspiration for animation and his love for it in general. Sucks that he’s a terrible person though. I wish I could look up to him as an artist myself. I will definitely still love his work though
All men should be gentlemen and respect others. The hardest thing to change are people's minds.
who isn't a terrible person? at least he was good at something what are you good at?
@@thiefkings Not many terrible people get so forgiving at being pedos, unlike your incel self
@@thiefkings There’s a difference between being a jerk who’s talented vs. a sexual assaulter and pedophile who’s used their position to do that for as long as possible
@@thiefkings Whoa whoa, calm down John.
I find it intriguing that john k actually came on the documentary. As soon as he sits down, you can see him automatically start critisizing the production.
he loved drawing so much, he felt like a kid! now i kind of get why he basically dated one. to stay young, forgetting about laws! probably shouldnt have done that.
Oh god.
Yeah….shouldve never ever committed that act.
I wonder why Billy West isn’t in the documentary.
Probably because of his experience working for John K., the guy probably wants to stay away from anything R&S related since Adult Party Cartoon almost killed the franchise to the point where Viacom refused to do anything Ren and Stimpy related
@@timothyfinn3619 Makes sense
He is in it. Just briefly.
aren’t they doing a reboot of Ren and Stimpy with him in it?
Bob Camp isn’t as bad as John Kricfalusi.
Doubtful because the animators and even the book: sick little monkeys it says he's worse than John when it comes to work ethnic (it could be boiled down to him trying to be better than John k).
@@excellentestevan4488 I got the ebook version. Camp was just less willing to re-do things; just wants to draw funny.
John Kricfalusi was and is a narcissistic sociopath.
1980s cartoons weren’t that bad or poorly drawn. The foreign made 1980s cartoons were best, of course.
Yeah, other contries have had their own ups and downs regarding animation, which differ in their timeline from that of the US. The 80's was a lowpoint for american TV cartoons, but for instance Japan and Russia were doing really great stuff at the time.
It is my favorite show.
I love that johns voice has turned from a way more subdued Billy West to George Liquor
3:16 glorious
That's what makes this show precious, and a symbol of the 90s.
Oh dear, wait to you hear or see Adult Party Cartoon Jack - 5:16 to 5:25
