All Game Terrain sent me a sample box of goodies which included different types of glue, some different types of basing materials, a spray bottle, and some basic terrain grass and shrubbery. In this video, I show how I tested it out and used it for some tabletop games. I give my opinion about the materials and who might find them useful. Keep doing what you’re doing! I just found your channel and am excited to check it out
Thank you so much!
That mic is very white
This is true!
Thank you! These instructions were terrible. I had to download them, not sure if they were different from the printed ones, but the part numbers in Steps 2 and 3 are all jumbled, plus several times how they fit together was super confusing including this step.
Glad the video helped!
I believe he and his brother Rodney used to box when they were young.
That's awesome. Lamont has many talents
Cool🎉 great job
Thanks!
Loved the video. You did an amazing job!
Thanks!! Best of luck with the game :)
Such a weird concept. I love it!
At first I thought it wouldn’t work, but it made sense for this game.
Wow!! What an interview!! Love to see the trick-taking love grow!!
Just checked out your channel too, thanks for watching!
This was a wonderful interview. and I am excited to read this book. I discovered bid whist from mobile bid whist apps on my phone and like how much easier the bidding is to teach than bridge. You are a great public speaker and I look forward to hearing more from you about how cards/games mesh with life. Christopher, thank you for your great questions.
Thanks for your comments and thanks for watching!
The guest knows what needs to be said, and says it. Acknowledging the simply mathematical reality that women are half the population and that the gaming industry could take them seriously is something he addressed tactfully. And, holy crap! He said he *made a game while he was homeless* !!! If that's not some inspirational motivation, I don't know what is. Whatever *reasons* I have for not having published the things I want to make, seem so *small* now. If he can publish a game while surfing friends' couches, I should have no trouble publishing a game from the comfort of my 1350/month apartment- nearly all of my excuses are trash.
Thanks for watching- hopefully Seppy helped inspire you to create :)
Timestamps if you want the channel to go somewhere. GL
Thanks!
Just got the game, looks great and the art is beautiful
We really enjoy it
Thanks so much for having me on
The pleasure was all mine!
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed Dawn of Ulos! I'm pretty proud of how it's come together.
Yeah, it's a lot of fun :)
Thank you!!
Of course, great game!
We're so glad to hear you enjoyed Dawn of Ulos!
Thanks for checking out the video!
The video is titled "what is a roll and write". Which is the question I had that made me click on this video. But this question is not answered...you go straight into the history of these games, listing the titles of games and showing the boxes. I'm 7 minutes in and I still don't know what a roll and write is.
It’s a game where you roll dice and write, they come in many different forms and have influenced other game styles. It’s sort of like the question- “what is a chair?” I can point at one, but can’t give a full definition.
Awesome list, Chris! Cant wait to try some of the games on this list. Fit to print is so cute, would love to try it.
Thanks! Hope you get a chance to soon!
Awesome top 10! I'm really interested in White Castle and Darwin's Journy.
Your 3d turn is wrong. You can only number a greenhouse after having activated an airlock that gives access to it
Thanks for catching that!
Only a couple of crossovers between your list and mine, looks like I have some homework to do! I really liked Tiger & Dragon, and Forest Shuffle is fantastic. I just picked up The White Castle and I'm looking forward to getting it to the table.
It was another great year for games. There were some tough choices this year.
I was surprised you didn’t talk about white castle solo being super hard!
It definitely can be, I like the solo but I prefer it at 2-3
Wow! I've only played one game on your list! That game MAY show up on ONE of our 2023 lists! Whenever we get to it.... Anyway, great hearing your picks!
Wow, not completely surprising though. Really great year for games :)
Yes to Darwin’s Journey! 🎉 would love to play Arborea some time soon …
Let’s do it!
Great list Chris! Glad to see similar thoughts on Darwin's Journey..such a great game! Excited to try some of these on your list such as white castle and forest shuffle. Here's my top ten new/new to me and cheers to another year of great gaming.l! 1. Darwin's Journey 2.Scholars of the south Tigris 3. Stationfall 4. Nucleum 5. Raising robots 6. Legacy of Yu 7. Apiary 8. Age of innovation 9. Distilled 10. The search for lost species.
I need to play Scholars and Stationfall again. Hopefully we can game soon!
23:00 (reminder for later)
This helped me learn how to play !😄
That’s great!
Can't move across the grey wall
Good to know. Will probably replay this at some point with my own errata sheet
Hello, i have a question: if i happen yo swap the wild resources card with the one matching color, does it count as an action? Meaning does my turn end or can i play an action?
It does not take an action to swap out the Wild Resource
Cute concept, cute components. We felt it went by too fast. We'll probably have to tweak some rules to make it last a little longer.
I could see that if you were looking for something heavier. It is definitely lighter than it might appear at first glance.
@@BoardAgainGames definitely, we're probably not the target anymore. Was looking for a light game but it's lacking interest. We whave the same problem with dog park. Haven't found a dog theme game that we truly enjoy.
Yeah, I don’t think there is a heavier dog game out there yet than Dog Park
Something I was wondering, the story mission only goes to the next story once it is attempted and either succeeded or failed? You could theoretically go a few rounds without attempting the story mission (while suffering whatever penalities are out there)?
You could do this yes, but you still suffer the end of round effects so you usually want to deal with a mission.
Cute theme, and i do like set collection!
The art and theme work really well if you like dogs. We have had a good time with it.
I am so confused about this game as multiple times I can make no moves, and the wood pile keeps just turning over in 3 cards and the same card is revealed (which I can’t use as it doesnt work on the post or dutch piles) and thus I just can’t make a move??
Being stuck happens sometimes but when another player lays something down it should help you fairly quickly.
This looks fun!
It was really good, quite fun
@BoardAgainGames I may have missed this - is it replayable if you pass it on or one time use?
@@eVanDieselreplayable when you pass it on to someone new. There are reset instructions
@@BoardAgainGames cool! Thanks! I'm gonna back it!
@eVanDiesel I think you all will really enjoy it
I've attempted to play this game several times, but nothing about it makes sense to me beyond rolling the dice and placing them on the game board.
I haven't played it in a while will have to take a look at it again.
Hi! How to choose starting location for saint?
Each player chooses an area during setup, after picking a Saint. The exception is if someone has Palladius- they go in Eoganacht
@@BoardAgainGames thank you!
Glad to help!
From Sabrina in response to Thayne’s question during the premiere: “A basic understanding of probabilities is often very useful in designing or balancing a game. That said, I don't think you need particularly expert math skills to design a game.”
It seems impossible the beat The Crew, even with 2 Tool cards with us! I never managed to do it! I don't find this solo version very well balanced. thanks for the video,
It is a pretty challenging solo game, but I’ve been able to do it since then. Thanks for watching and commenting- good luck!
This is so interesting!
If your kids are in to game design, it’s a cool tool. They did a nice job with it, fun little story too.
Interesting! It's like timed Decorum!
Yes- you’re the second person this week to make that comparison!
I cannot wait to try to get my hands on this game it was easily one of the best games I played all of Gen Con! And of course with you made it better!
It’s such a blast and I’m really glad we hung out and played
Very nice list! Never heard of Spellbook, but it's right up my alley. Thanks! And I know Decorum came out last year, but it's the top game I'm looking forward to trying.
I haven't tried Decorum yet - if you do end up getting a copy, I will try playing.
5 Years to Mars and Bonsai seem interesting
Yeah- I was glad I accidentally found 5 Years to Mars
Great list! Some interesting ones that I haven't seen on anyone else's list!
Thanks Evan- yeah, I tend to do my own thing, for better or worse, haha.
@@BoardAgainGames better!
Thanks, I appreciate that
Yay! I hope you can try Kelp 😊
I am really interested in Bonsai.
I’ll let you know what I think!
Thanks for the kind words! And wow - Mistwind looks gorgeous!
Of course- you guys keep making games I truly enjoy!
Note: You get to see your hand before you choose where to visit.
Yep-if you note at 3:06 I point out I’m not stuck staying where I wanted to visit because I looked at my hand and realized that might not be the best place
Good review, just a small note, Mayan civilization are already fallen apart when the Spanish empire reach the Yucatan peninsula. Many historians believe that there is some social collapse due to starvation, dictatorial rulership of the Ahaus and the revolts of the civil population against the current order.
I know the Mayans were fragmented by the early 16th Century- but one of the books I read said conquistadors were responsible for 80-90% reduction of the population between about 1512 and 1697 when Nojpeten finally fell. I guess it depends on how you view a civilization falling apart? Since they were no longer producing the same type of trade and architecture before the conquistadors arrived had the civilization fallen apart? Maybe
@@BoardAgainGames Yes you are right, they are there and in a pretty weak state. The population that suffer a 80-90% reduction due to the colonization was THe Hispaniola, that is Dominicana and Haiti. These areas are populated with Tainos, some tribes that migrate from the Yucatan peninsula. They are peaceful people, even if they came from the Mayan roots they don't share the same ritual practices as sacrifices. The colonization is a difficult topic to cover to be honest, I personally think that no matter which European power came to central america and the Caribbean islandsthe results would be probably the same. The lack of resilience to viruela is mostly because Tainos, Mayans, Aztecks lacks od domiasticated animals, so they lose the capacity to resist viruses that are pretty common on Asian, African and European cultures. There is also a social component, people of that centuries have a totally different view of the world compared to modern humans. What we need to do is educate people, teach them history and understand where we came from to grow as united humans. Pointing out someone for something that their ancestors do 500 years ago is pointless. Thanks for bringing this topic out! :)
Thank you, that cured me staring at the things and turning them every which way like a special education chimpanzee. 😅
Glad it helped!
